not true. the 10 inch cake(in the box) we ordered from the Contemporary on Sunday DID fit in our fridge at AoA. (of course I had to take other things out, and lower the top shelf, but it DID fit...)

Was it the full-size fridge of the AOA suites or the mini-fridge of the Ariel wing?

she said, well, it's still edible.

:scared1: Whoa... at that point I would have had zero problem with asking the manager to remove the 18% automatic gratuity from the cost of the cake.

We were in a Lion King Suite. I sure wouldn't say those those are full size fridges. Are you saying the fridges in the Mermaid rooms are even smaller than that? <eek>
We had a 9 p.m. seating..(and I did ask to speak with a manager, but was told he was no longer on the floor, because the restaurant was closed)

We ordered a mini cake to celebrate both our daughter's birthdays on our trip in late September. I used the Contemporary cake line and had the cake delivered to the California Grill. Since our daughter's names are Lily and Violet I asked for those flowers to be what decorates the cake. When I made the order I was told it would have a mousse filling (I picked chocolate). Well, it was buttercream filling when we got it.
It looked pretty nice.

I don't think I ended up getting charged for it though. I gave my credit card # over the phone, but I haven't seen a charge yet (and it's been almost 2 months since we came back). I also didn't get a slip at the restaurant, which I didn't think much of back then since I had give the cake people my credit card number.

Is it possible to order a cake to be delivered straight to a resort room? I'm staying at the Polynesian just before Christmas (leaving the Monday before) and would like to take a cake home with me.

And, that said... any decent Christmas cakes worthwhile ordering? :)

Wow, what a drag! :sad2: So it looks like you had a standard mini-fridge in the suite—I thought I remembered reading that those suites would have full-sized fridges and more complete kitchens.

Yes. See post #2 for ordering info.

Disney doesn't offer any standard cake designs other than the Mickey-head cake. If you want a custom cake you pretty much have to come up with an idea and send pictures or give them a basic idea what you're looking for and see what they come up with.

I designed this cake a couple Christmases ago by combining ideas I found online and had my husband do a Photoshop mockup that we sent to the Contemporary. We loved how it turned out!

Hi all!

Another successful custom cake from Disney! We were celebrating my friend's 29th birthday at Be Our Guest Restaurant, so I went through Magic Kingdom cakes. They were quick to respond by email, both when ordering and confirming.

I asked for a 6" chocolate cake, with peanut butter filling, covered in chocolate ganache with a Gaston theme, as that is my friend's favorite character. They wanted an extra $35 for a 2D white chocolate Gaston, so I brought a figurine from home and our waiter was nice enough to place it on the cake BEFORE it was brought out to the table. It was $65 plus tax and gratuity and it was on our restaurant bill.

I was a little worried with some of the cakes people have been talking about recently, but it was just as delicious as the first cake we ordered. I'm going to assume it was made by Chef Donald, because his name was on the cake box.

Overall, great experience and I'll be looking for an excuse to plan my next custom cake order, I mean, Disney vacation.

The cake we ordered was amazing. I will post pics as soon as I can. The cake was beautiful and looked wonderful. Skyline of Radiator Springs along the sides of the cake with a 'rock' border, a chocolate fence around the top edge with the field scene, and haystacks. (I provided the Mattel figures of Frank, tipping tractors, lighning and Mater)

We were not disappointed with the look of the cake.
Inside, however, was NOT what we ordered. I even have the copy of the order form, that shows what I ordered, but when I pointed it out to our server....she said, well, it's still edible. Yes, it is, but the filling was not what we ordered.

My husband about fainted when he saw the 18% gratuity ($32.00) added onto the cost of the cake---in addition to the 18% gratuity added to our dinner.

All told it was $150 for a cake that looked wonderful, but was a filling that was not what we ordered, and when I asked what it WAS filled with.. the server left to check, and came back and said she didn't know.

Yikes! Ummm...how does she know it is edible? Maybe someone in your party was allergic to whatever filling?

Help... So much information I am confused. We need a cake delivered to Ohana next Sunday (MIL and DS birthday).

Who would I call? I think it's Contemporary but I am not sure?? I want a special cake and not your standard cake.

Do the restaurants provide boxes to take home? I am afraid we will be too full or want to eat the Ohana dessert before the cake arrives. We would love to take the extra cake back to our room.

Thanks... Can't wait!!

Hi,:)

If you need a cake delivered to Ohanas you have to contact Pat at the Grand Floridian. Pat's direct line is 407-824-1951. Their cakes are not only delicious but their pastry chef is amazing. Pat seems to get a bad rap a little grumpy but she is really very nice just be super sweet:goodvibes

I usually call about a week before our dinner reservation.

We'll be calling her in a couple of weeks:dance3:

So on the fence about our cake at CM for ds bday! I know there are Contemporary success stories of late but it does seem more disappointments than before :(.

Our other choice would be have it done at AKL and delivered to our room at Kidani. They did his 1st bday cake last year. It was really cute (I think I posted it at the time). I'm just worried it would be almost the same cake since they limit what they will create.

I thought the excitement of CM plus the cake would make him happy.

What would you guys do?

This lack of any name on our cake box also makes me suspicious it was a premade cake we got that they just added flowers and the chocolate castle to. The cakes we had in the spring which were fabulous, both had Brian's name on the boxes. I wish I could be excited about a future cake order. Glad you had a good experience though!

Super!! Thank you very much. I will call them on Monday.

I LOVE LOVE this cake. How much was it? I think my MIL would adore it.

$100 at the Contemporary. I think if you asked the Grand Floridian or Yacht & Beach Club to do something like that they'd charge more.

I'd take a chance on the Contemporary. :thumbsup2

Alright I placed my first cake order and I'm scared haha. We will be dining at the Yachtsman (my DH, FIL, MIL and I), I ordered a red fondant, white cake with dark chocolate mousse, with snowflakes, for a winter theme with a 2d Lady and the Tramp. They quoted me $80 for an 8". I couldn't think of any other Disney movie that made me think of the holidays besides Beauty and the Beast and I wanted it a lil more guy friendly. It will be a surprise for everyone I just hope it looks nice and tastes good!

The Grand Floridian shows you can order a cheesecake as a mini cake. Has anyone ever gotten one and how is it? Is it possible to get a larger cheesecake than the mini? We are looking for a cheesecake for my son's birthday, hopefully for an Illuminations cruise in July. Thank you

Ok, I will attempt to upload pictures. I apologize if I do it wrong.

Ordered through Magic Kingdom Cakes via email for delivery to BOG at dinner. 8 inch yellow cake with strawberries and barverian cream filling. Covered in fondant and topped with a white chocolate Belle painted with gold accents - $85 plus tax, etc. It was really yummy and so beautiful

LOVE this!!! They did a great job with Belle! I didn't think of doing just gold accents, it's so pretty!

I've had many cakes at The Yachtsman Steakhouse done by the pastry chefs at Yacht & Beach and I've never had one that was not delicious and I have been very satisfied with each and every one.
