Sorry lots of post to go through but I wanted to know about ordering chocolate cover strawberries at animal kingdom lodge kidani village. Price where to call and how far in advance. Thank you

The availability of non-cake desserts varies by location. See post #2 for the number to call for Animal Kingdom Lodge. You'd need to ask them what they offer. I recommend calling 2 weeks to 2 or 3 days ahead.

Well just got off the phone with private dining at AKL. We are staying there in Oct and IPO told me to call directly to arrange a cake for DD bday. IPO told me I would be working with a Chef Amanda. I was very excited as I have heard not so great stuff re AK specialty cakes. I was excited for no reason. The woman who answered the phone seemed VERY confused. She has NO idea what I'm talking about. I guess I'll call back.

I actually called private dining at AKL today. The CM I spoke with was very helpful. Definitely call back!

Thanks! I was a bit despondent and actually trying to talk my dd into California Grill for her bday dinner. She is adamant. She want the duck breast from Jiko's. and her cake in the CL lounge. Do you remember to whom you spoke? I had a name and couldn't get through to her so I am willing to try something else.

I know that I've read here that you can order a cake for pick-up at the Contemporary - but is that an option at the Polynesian/GF at all?

We are likely going to WDW again in October for the Food and Wine festival, and it sounds like DH's parents will be coming with us. Their anniversary happens while we are there, and we were thinking of ordering a cake for them. We weren't planning on many ADRs as we are going to take advantage of F&W as best we can, so we were hoping to be able to have this in the room at Shades of Green. I know we can't get it delivered there, but if we could pick the cake up at Poly (Kona, maybe?) that would be awesome.

Why not just order one from the Boardwalk Bakery and pick it up there?:confused3

We're looking to have the cake at the hotel, if possible, as then we wouldn't have to carry it around a park should there be leftovers. Shades of Green is closest to the Polynesian, though we could take the monorail and pick it up at The Wave if necessary.

ETA: Also, some of DH's family is not too keen on the alcohol part of F&W and they may not be joining us when we go to Epcot. Having the cake in the room would mean everyone would be present.

What about a meal at kona? You can order a selection of apps and then have the cake.

Their anniversary is the Wednesday of our trip, which I was planning on us spending in Epcot (Wed & Thurs), so that we avoid the F&W weekend crowds. Since we're going there specifically for F&W, our meal plans for Epcot days are sampling the various festival booths. I don't know if anyone is going to be interested in a meal at Kona on the way back to the hotel for the night...and even if they were, it would make a later night for our DD than we'd really like. If we're back at the hotel, we can put her to bed in our room and go to their room to surprise them with the cake and such.

If we can't pick it up at Poly, I'll figure something out, I just figured I'd ask. Coming back from Epcot it shouldn't be too difficult to swing by the Contemporary and pick it up at the Wave...we'd just have to figure out how to do it as covertly as possible :)

ETA: Another question....it's possible that my parents may be on the trip as well, in which case they could take DD to the hotel for bed while DH and I and his family stayed in Epcot - potentially for the 3D Dessert Party that's part of the festival. If we did that, would a bakery deliver there? Or would we have to go pick it up from Boardwalk?

Try Heather at it's Tasty too. She is delivering our Vow Renewal cake to Shades of green. She has a $25 delivery fee. However the cakes are much more reasonable than Disney.

Sorry, I didn't write her name down. I would just try calling again. She told me everything I needed to know about having a cake delivered to our room at Kidani and what if we wouldn't be there at the time we requested to all my options for the cake. Don't give up!

For some reason Photo Bucket won't let me upload my pictures can anyone help

I use Photobucket to post pics here. Have you uploaded them to your account, but can't get them to post here or can you not get them to upload to Photobucket at all? If you have them in your account, select the picture and then in the list of different links, pick the one that starts with

Only Disney can give you this answer. If it's a standard cake you're after, call the number listed for the Polynesian in Post #2. If you want a fancy, fondant-covered cake or a mini cake, call the number for the Grand Floridian, which delivers these to the Poly. They can let you know if it can be left, say, at Captain Cook's.

The bakeries only deliver to resort rooms and restaurants. BoardWalk Bakery is the only one you can walk into and pick something up.

You may find that having It's Tasty Too deliver to Shades of Green is a lot less hassle and money than trying to go through Disney. :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm narrowing down plans for MILs birthday cake. I tried to find out if she has any favorite characters or rides with no such luck so I turned to my 4 year old to ask what we should do for Grandma's cake. He said it should be something for girls because she's a girl-lol. We are doing lunch at the Plaza on our MK day with her and the plan is to have it presented then.

Thinking of doing a 6 inch cake possibly marble cake with vanilla buttercream and strawberry filling. For the decorations I'm thinking pale blue and yellow flowers surrounding a while chocolate slipper (if they'll do that). I'm going to take a look at the other chocolate toppers but I'm leaning towards this as it's sort of simple and still says Disney. And since it's our MK day and we'll be eating near the castle I thought it appropriate.

I also don't think I want fondant as pleasant as it looks so I think this works with that idea in mind. We'll see. Our trip is just over a month away so I guess I'll be looking into it soon.

Still not sure when/where to do our GF anniversary cake, but we might just deliver that to the room. BTW is there a fee for that?

Thanks, lurkyloo I will call the GF number and ask :)

When you are staying at a resort with Private Dining service, cakes incur the same fees that any room service meal would: 18% gratuity, 6.5% sales tax and $3.00 delivery charge.

If the cake is delivered to a room at a resort that doesn't have Private Dining, you just pay 6.5% sales tax.

We are staying at the GF in October and DH's birthday is our second day there. I would love to get him a Star Wars themed cake. How far in advance to I need to start talking to someone at the GF about this?
