We'll be at BLT in August during my sisters birthday. She's been a Pooh fan all her life. Anyone have Pooh cake pictures or stories? Not sure where we'll celebrate her birthday but if they cakes right, that's the restaurant for us. :lovestruc

Ok, I'm really confused in reading through this thread. I'm thinking about ordering a cake from the GF bakery on our first night dinner @ Narcoossee's. We are also on the DxDP so the smaller the better...What is the size that they will decorate/customize? Also, is there a place with the types of fillings, flavors, etc? I'm excited that now I finally have something in mind for our 10th anniversary BUT don't really know where to go from here. TIA ;)

Truthfully, I just called the front desk and they transferred me to the head baker LOL

I can tell you that the cake was not just the standard Mickey head cake. I will have to try to post a picture of it...... but it really did taste like a Zabra Dome in cake form........

Im going to Disney in Sept, with my sister her daughter and her boyfriend to plan my DN's:bride: wedding. We are staying at BWV and i wanted to do something specail for my DN so i thought i would order her a mini wedding cake like the one that go's with a wishes wedding BUT i havent seen one:confused3 Or should i order the Slipper from dining any advice would be great.:thumbsup2
TIA:flower3:

If you want a chocolate slipper, you'll need to be dining at the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary or Cinderella's Royal Table. BoardWalk Bakery has made mini-wedding cakes in the past—you just need to stress that you want a miniature/individual-sized cake. This page has pictures of all the standard cakes BoardWalk Bakery makes for Disney's Escape weddings, along with their names: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/escape-cakes/

If you picked one you liked, you could tell the pastry chef the name of the wedding cake design you want for your mini cake.

It has been reported periodically on this thread that Disney cannot do cakes with Pooh & Friends on them. You might try calling Private Dining at the Contemporary or the Grand Floridian and asking, just to see if this policy has changed.

The smallest size cake the Grand Floridian will customize is 6 inches, which feeds up to 10 people (they say 4–6 people, but it's really tall). They can also do mini cakes, which serve 1–2 people. Those aren't customizable—they have a few set designs.

The first post of the old Cake Chatter thread has a list of all the cake flavors offered for Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings (i.e., the Grand Floridian Bakery). It's a good place to start, but you'll need to talk to Private Dining to see what your options are—sometimes they're kinda stingy about what they'll do...

Helen

It's the cake version of the Zebra Domes (kahlua-chocolate mousse desserts) they sell at the Mara and at Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Just ordered a cake from Brian for my daughter's 16th birthday celebration. Hoping he works his magic for us! :woohoo:

OO n question I can answer!!! Yes the AKL does indeed do cakes!! We had one in 2009 and it was OMG AMAZING!! it tasted like a Zebra Dome in cake form!!! I asked for what would be their 'signature' cake I wish I could remember what I paid for it though sorry :(

Oh are you the one whose cake I was looking for a picture of?? Did you post it on here? I think I've been looking for it!

Edited: Ok, it's not your cake, but it's so similar to the one I was looking for. I think the other one had a ganache topping. Perfect that you had a picture, though!

I just ordered a Alice in Wonderland themed cake for my daughter's 9th birthday from Brian at the Contemporary. :yay: I am excited but I am also sooooooooo freaking nervous! I sent pics and tried to describe what my daughter wanted but I am not very artisitc so I hope it turns out ok. :rolleyes1

I posted a little while back about a birthday cake for my son. I was thinking of a toy story cake or Mickey Head, which I thought might be too big for our party of 4. I called Pat at the GF, and while she was very nice, I was hoping she was going to be more helpful. A 6" custom cake that she said they could do a Buzz theme was $66, and she really only said vanilla or chocolate flavors. I went with the Mickey head, while its way too big for us (Even though she couldn't really tell me how big it was or how many it could feed) I figure its more cake , and I know it looks great, because I have seen pictures.

We got the Mickey head cake a couple of years ago and it is so cute! You won't be disappointed. It's a lot of cake but maybe you snack on it for awhile. :rotfl:

I had asked this awhile back ,but never got any answer.....

When you post a picture of your cake, how long until it is posted to the "table of contents" for cakes??

It says not long after, but I posted my cake over a month ago...Thanks! :confused3

Wondering if anyone can help me out with a question!!! How would I go about ordering a specialty cake for a dinner in world showcase?

TIA for your help!!!

Hey Everyone!

I am in need of some serious help! I've been trying for two weeks to order a great birthday cake for my husband. I have it all planned out to be a surprise at his birthday dinner at Boma on March 24th. But when I called AKL to tell them what I wanted - they quoted me $280+!!???!!

Here's what I asked for: A Wishes Themed Cake (He LOVES Wishes)
1 8-10" cake
fondant covered in midnight blue
cut outs of guests (in black fondant - like shadows looking up at fireworks)
edible image of castle on top
fireworks (made from chocolate) coming up from behind the castle

And without even talking to me, the chef at Boma quoted me $280+. Meanwhile I see people paying $80-$120 for similar cakes on this thread. I tried to call Pat at GF for two weeks but haven't heard back. Any advice? Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Thank you!!!

Question guys:

Do they deliver a cake at Kidani Village at AKL? DBF is doing the Wine and Dine Half in October, and this is where we are staying. I want them to bring in a cake for him finishing the race, so I hope we can do this...any idea?

Also, would I be able to get the special fillings here? I know he'd love Baileys or Amaretto filling...:confused3:

Sorry to tell you but the cake you described is going to be that expensive.
Yes others are paying less, but they aren't as "intricate" as you describe yours.
For a custom cake like you describe it is an easy $280. If you want something with the theme for a less amount then I would give the chef the amt you have to spend and the theme and ask them what they can do.

Good luck.

As far as I know, you can't order a specialty cake at world showcase. I was trying to order a specialty cake for our dinner at Akershus and I have been told the only thing I can get are the standard round cakes that are at every restaurant with an edible image.

Hi,

Sorry to bother everyone, but I called the contemporary to order a cake and they gave me Brian's email address and I guess I wrote it down wrong (so extremely long). Can anyone PM me so I can make sure I have the right email? I would greatly appreciate it.

Not what I would suggest. I asked for a similar thing but no fondant and no worry about guests watching. I asked for $65-$80 and this is what I got. I left the creativity up to them. I was not happy.

I can't imagine this would be too much of a problem! I would think $150 at most? Here is what I got at the GF. I know it is completely different style cake but detailed no matter. It is an 8" cake with red fondant with Christmas theme. Yours would have a little more detail. Here is mine and I paid $100 for it.
