I was told you can request a generic celebration cake at the podium when you go to the restaurant that has them if you want one personalized you need to order ahead.
i had a generic before and it was not good, but i love disney so i didnt care lol

Ok so we are planning on having our 5 year anniversary dinner at Narcooses on June 24th. I was going to surprise my hubby with a fancy cake and since we love Haunted Mansion (I mean we look for the ring on every trip sort of obsessive love) I was thinking that I would get HM themed cake and have "Thank you for 5 grim grinningly great years" written on it.... Can anyone give me any ideas on the cost and maybe a few pictures to reference when I call dining at the GF to order. I would really appreciate it as this is a big deal for us, 1st time we have ever gone away together alone ever without friends, family or our daughter and I really want the trip to be a special one :lovestruc

CakeManBri makes a fabulous HM cake at the CR bakery, the pics are on the other chatter thread. You could get a pic of that and email it to Pat. Good luck, other than that, I'd eat at CG or even at the Wave and get CMB to make the HM cake. :goodvibes

Well you've given me hope! I am stressing out over here after talking to Pat. I too am getting a 6inch cake with fondant for $66. This cake is beautiful, and of they can give me something as beautiful as this in the parameters of what I asked for I will be very happy.
Can I ask you, how many time did you talk to her? I called yesterday and she took all the info....should I be calling to check on this or am I good? Thanks!

hahahaha!!! I know your pain, girl!!!!
It took two calls to get it all panned out, caused she wanted to only give me FOUR silver mickeys and then a PP told me to ask for the "Mickeys Delight", and when I did, she hemmed and hawwed and then put me on hold to ask the pastry chef, yadda yadda, and then came back on and said yes, "they" would do it for the $66.
I think it's about standing up and holding your own ground with her and NOT backing down! Sorta like the PP on the other page, but by gosh, when push come to shove, this is what we must do to get a darn cake!

Keep us posted and Good luck! It'll work out! :cloud9:

BEAUTIFUL cake Little Lulu. I'd be very happy too.
Happy Anniversary :lovestruc

Aw, thank you, johnsonet!

Thank you!

I just got off the phone with Mark there. The smallest cake they would customize was a 10" cake...that's a lot of cake for 4 people! Thank goodness we'll be heading back home that day! I asked for a plain white cake with vanilla buttercream (I'm kinda picky like that!) with a Star Wars theme. I was quoted $96.57 for all of it. I asked too, for my own piece of mind, to make sure that it was NOT just an edible image and mentioned that I didn't just want a picture on a cake for that amount. I hope it's an awesome cake!! I'm trying not to have high expectations but now I'm kind of excited...

Of course I will post pictures! He's only 5 but he and DS3 are in LOVE with Star Wars - Yode, Wuke Skywalker, Darf Vader, Darf Mall, C3PO and R2D2. :rotfl: It doesn't help that their Daddy is a Star Wars junkie so I hope this cake is good....I mentioned several times how the boys play with their "light savers" all the time and have watched the movies so I'm hoping it's really awesome for the amount of money it's costing. I'm going to call back and confirm and ask if they have any idea of what they're going to do with it or if I can have a chef's email to send some pictures (which I have yet to find). I don't mind if it's Yoda and Star Wars Mickey. I just don't want an edible image on my cake or a piece of white chocolate with a picture on it...I can get that at Publix (and I am in fact on Friday for DS5's class party!) for a lot less than Disney. I made sure to mention that we'd ordered cakes in the past and what we loved/didn't love about them and that I wanted to order again for our upcoming trip but had read that the service/taste was declining so this was a "test" cake. None of it was a lie honestly (but I would totally strech the truth if I needed to so I was able to get something I knew they offered!)...I'm glad we're going so I can "test" things out and see how they go before I order a big cake for our friends later this year. I know it's different every time but I would make specific reservations somewhere if I knew the cakes were awesome.

That was a really long winded way to say yup I'll post pictures when I get back :goodvibes

I just quoted myself to keep everything together....

I just got a call from Chef Darren at the Yacht and Beach Club. He said a chef had to contact me because I'd mentioned allergies when placing my order. He went over the details of the order with me again and warned me that the items they use - specifically in the chocolate - say they may contain trace amounts of nuts. I confirmed I'd ordered cakes before and was aware of the risk but wasn't planning any chocolate on the cake. He asked if I had anything in mind and I explained I didn't want an edible image on the cake - something better than that since I was quoted $96.00. He said my options were to have a white chocolate Jedi Mickey on top of the cake or 5- 6 characters on the cake baked with white chocolate (we did this with a Cars cake at the GFC previously and I just threw out the piece of choclate this past weekend :sad2:). I opted for the Jedi Mickey on the cake. I hope it's super cute. I don't plan on eating the Mickey (he'll probably go home and be save for a couple of years too before I have the heart to throw him out! :rolleyes1) so I'm not worried about the possible trace amount of nuts in there.

I have to say my "go in with no expectations" attitude is being taken over by excitement! :woohoo: I just hope it looks and tastes awesome!!

I'm thinking of ordering a cake for my dd we are staying at AKL. But for her birthday dinner we are going to rainforest cafe. But we are staying at AKL will they deliver the cake to the room or can I pick it up somehwere? I'm not bringing the cake with us. But we will eat it in the room. I guess ordering a cake from AKL is a hit or miss?

Her birthday is really the month before but we want to do a little extra something for her.

Anyone? I'm thinking a lion king theme cake.

If I get one of the podium cakes and bring some figurine cake toppers will they put them on for me?

:surfweb: Anyone: Can you have a cake delivered to The Plaza Restaurant? Probably won't do it but just wondering...:confused3

Are you looking for cake for a boys or girls? If it's a girl, you could get the chocolate slipper or the mini castle cake. Both of those are very reasonable as WDW prices go. If either of those, would work for you, I'll try to find you some pics. Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. We did have our server put a candle on my DS's cake, but it wasn't very organized. My DH had to stalk her outside the servers station, & hope to catch her coming out.

a boy I wish it was for a girl I would jump at the slipper! I was thinking about buying some Toy Story figurines and getting them to put them on top of the podium cake but if that doesn't work i'll just go with a little popup cake in the treasure chest box.. I just kind of wanted something a little more personal but not huge (3 people-1 adult 2 children)

Hi Everyone!!! Has anyone ever gotten a dumbo cake? I've looked at a few pages but didn't see any. Thank you!! :flower3:

Thanks! Maybe I will move dinner over to the Contemp... I just thought that Narcooses was so beautiful and the menu looked yummy, I could try to have it replicated by Pat. I think I will call Monday to see because that cake looked awesome and just perfect! :thumbsup2

OMG! I see you're staying at the WL for your anniversary trip! CakeManBri could make that cake for you (I'm pretty sure :scared: ) and have it delivered at the AP!
We ate their THREE TIMES this last trip! It was fabulous! One of the head chefs from CG is over there and it is awesome!
I know, I gave you something else to confuse you with! So sorry! :flower3:

CakeManBri, can you do this, by chance? ;)

Thanks!! I just called and left a message for Pat though, But I never even thought about Artist Point.... Ugg, LOL, What do I do?? I don't want to hurt her feelings now if I decide to go with Artist Point :confused3

But that cake is amazing!!!

Well, at least you can have a plan b. But, try to plan on eating at AP, it is wonderful! :thumbsup2
Remember, also, Pat is off on Sundays and Mondays. :)

Good Luck!

So far, we're doing Citrico's for the 65th bday dinner, Mom's favorite, so I'm probably going with the Tink cake that Pat was all excited about on the phone! Hey! You get her excited, you'll get a great cake! ::yes::
Plus, mom loves Tink! Who doesn't love Tink?! LOL

Just know when I say this that I am ordering my second cake from Pat--so this is not personal...I would NOT worry about "hurting her feelings". She certainly does not worry about hurting feelings--this is a BUSINESS decision. If you don't order a cake from her or cancel an order already made--she will forget about it in an hour or less. I would not take that into consideration for a nano-second. Eat what you want and do what's good for your family!!

ITA! Well said! ::yes::

Thanks everyone but I think I will wait and talk to her when she gets back to me to make my decision because I think DH and I both would be happier with Narcooses menu and the fireworks piping in would be an added bonus ;)

I am thinking if I fax her the photos she can probably replicate and I am completely up to her own added touches as well

I tried to copy and paste the picture but I can't do it. Look at this link. It's too cute and what I am hoping for in early June. I emailed this to the pastry chef's assistant at the Beach Club yesterday but I haven't heard back yet.

Thank you!!! I bet that is what he's going to do (without the fondant I hope - we didn't talk about that!). That Mickey is SSOOOO cute! :goodvibes I'd tried googling to find a picture and wasn't able to find one. Ok now I'm officially excited!
