Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

they told me 3 weeks to 30 days- they may do 5 weeks for you

I posted a thread about this, but realize it might be better on here :)
Is there anywhere you can get cupcakes instead of cake? Am thinking how much easier it would be?

Ok, thank you for the help! I called Beach Club and asked to order a cake for our illuminations cruise. The person helping me told me that only a 10" or larger cake can be personalized the way I want it.

She gave me a choice of white, chocolate or marble cake. Buttercream, white chocolate, fruit (strawberry I think), or dark chocolate filling and buttercream or whipped cream frosting.

She said they would not do any 3 D designs for a cake that would be served on a boat. (Makes sense to me).

Then she asked me what I wanted. There will be 8 of us on the cruise. I said, well, I guess we will get the 10" cake, (:scared1:). I ordered marble with dark chocolate filling and buttercream frosting, although I would have preferred whipped cream. (Didn't think that would have stood up so well on a boat).

She asked how I wanted it decorated. My grandsons, 2 and 4 LOVE Figment. Since it is an Illuminations cruise, I thought it would be fun to have Figment surrounded by fireworks. She told me she would talk to a chef and get back with me.

She called back in about five min. :thumbsup2. She said they could do a Figment cake, reconfirmed my choices and told me she would be back with me in a day or two with the price and confirmation information.

Ten min. later, my phone rang. It was all confirmed, will be delivered to the boat with plates, forks etc. Price, including tax, gratuity etc, $97. I have absolutely NO idea what this cake will look like? :confused3 I just hope it tastes good. ;)

Thank you again!! I'll post pictures when we get home!

When I called the Yachtsman (where I was directed to for cruise food and where our illuminations cruise leaves from) they stated they only did a 6" and 8" for the cruises, in vanilla with vanilla buttercream and chocolate with chocolate buttercream. :( I said would it feed 10? She stated No, but I could get TWO cakes! WOOT!
So I will just order elsewhere and pick it up myself I guess!
Thank you for posting about the Beach Club - I will try there :)

Ah—for the IllumiNations cruise you need to call the Yacht & Beach Club BAKERY, via Private Dining, not Yachtsman. The restaurant itself can only offer you the pre-made cakes in those two flavors and sizes.

If you're still interested in getting a fancy cake, you can call the Yacht Club front desk and ask to be transferred to Private Dining. :thumbsup2

I'm thinking of ordering a cake for my dd we are staying at AKL. But for her birthday dinner we are going to rainforest cafe. But we are staying at AKL will they deliver the cake to the room or can I pick it up somehwere? I'm not bringing the cake with us. But we will eat it in the room. I guess ordering a cake from AKL is a hit or miss?

Her birthday is really the month before but we want to do a little extra something for her.

Thank you so much! I called the Yacht front desk, got private dining and then ordered custom cupcakes delivered to our cruise - you saved the day!:cheer2:

Just curious, but what options did they offer for cupcakes? You're the 1st I've heard of that ordered those.

ds's third bday cake and dd's chocolate slipper both at chef mickeys at the contemporary april 23rd. cake was 8 inches marble, with buttercream frosting. the lightning macqueen on top had to be plastic as brian was unable to recreate it. glass slipper was 15 dollars. both came out wonderful and it brought tears to my eyes to get the kids these. the cake was super yummy and moist. the chocolate slipper was too, altho dd wasn't a huge fan and i ended up eating it on top of a slice of cake. oh the sacrifice we make for our kids.

i was very happy with what i received, esp after i called the first time and a was told they didnt have emails and b the lady taking the call had no idea who lightning mac was!!! she pushed an edible image and i was adiment. after checking on here and knowing what i had read was rite and this could be done i called back to get the same lady. who had no idea what i was talking about but eventually remembered me. i asked for a supervisor or a pastry chef or a number or email for them. after telling me no 20 mins ago she easily gave me brians email. :confused3

i sent the email off saturday afternoon and by 8am sunday i had a response from him. we talked back and forth, with me forwarding on the pic from flckr(thanks for the idea lurky!) by monday evening both items were ordered and he told me to call blah to give details and cc number.

heres what we received! :

I again thank you for the information as it was entirely stress free by calling the Y&B Club directly!! Now it will be a surprise for all of us as I have absolutely no idea what we will get.

I am interested in the mickey face cake for my sons birthday. We are eating at Chef Mickeys for his birthday meal. Does anyone know if you can get it half white and half chocolate?
Thanks in advance

amberg,

Very cute cake! But do you mind if I ask how much the chocolate pirate ship cost? I would like to get one for my son...thanks

thanks! oh you mean the chocolate thats off to the rite of the slipper? that was rich chocolate mousse that came with the slipper. price was 15 dollars. they didn't refer to it as a pirate ship tho, in case you enquire about it and they give you a huh? lol

We are taking a secret surprise trip over Memorial Day weekend - no Disney parks :sad1:, just Sea World for a couple of days and a day at DTD with breakfast at Cape May Cafe. Since we won't be in Disney this year for my DS5's birthday, I wanted to celebrate now. I know this has been asked a million times but I'll probably one have time to make one call on my lunch today...should it be to the Beach Club or to Cake Hotline? I know I've only got a couple of weeks to pull this together so I want to try and get in contact with someone as quickly as possible. DS5's in love with Star Wars so it will have to be a Star Wars cake this time. (we'll do another cake in Nov/Dec when we're spending 10 days at Disney for DS3) We've never been to Cape May before but it was the only character breakfast we could get into that morning so we're giving it a shot! Hopefully all will go well and I'll be able to come back and share lots of pics!! :goodvibes

No problem - I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Cute cake! I love the road around the cake plate!

Call the Beach Club and ask to be transferred to Private Dining, then tell them you want a fancy custom cake. I would only call the Cake Hotline for a standard pre-made cake. :thumbsup2

thanks lurky! thanks for the idea to use flickr.com too. the pics of this cake and the one from there are almost identical, brian did an awesome job!

Thank you!

I just got off the phone with Mark there. The smallest cake they would customize was a 10" cake...that's a lot of cake for 4 people! Thank goodness we'll be heading back home that day! I asked for a plain white cake with vanilla buttercream (I'm kinda picky like that!) with a Star Wars theme. I was quoted $96.57 for all of it. I asked too, for my own piece of mind, to make sure that it was NOT just an edible image and mentioned that I didn't just want a picture on a cake for that amount. I hope it's an awesome cake!! I'm trying not to have high expectations but now I'm kind of excited...
