Does anyone have ANY pics from the Polynesian Bakery? We have ADR's at Ohana's and want to have a special cake for our family trip. Thanks! ;)

Thinking of ordering a cake for CRT for my daughter's birthday. I called the MK cake hotline and was quoted $29 for a 6in vanilla or chocolate dairy free cake.

Has anyone had a cake at CRT, or a dairy free one? I see all the slippers for CRT, just went through the whole thread... but didn't see any cakes for CRT.

They can't customize it very much, but maybe if the icing were vanilla, they could color it?

Also, the cm I spoke with mentioned a marzipan mickey that could be put on top..what is the marzipan mickey?

Thanks for your help! :thumbsup2

This is for a surprise visit, so I really want to make it super special. Probably the only time we can go on my daughter's birthday until she graduates from college...lol.

Just got off of the phone with Pat, who was beyond sweet and helpful!!! :yay:

We ordered a Mad Hatter cake for our reservation at Park Fare on July 2nd. :woohoo:

We requested a marble cake with chocolate mousse filling and with butter cream under the fondant. :cloud9:

As for decorations, we simply asked for a mickey mouse theme, but without any red or black fondant, as we want it to be really bright, cheerful and kid-friendly. party:

you can also get the slippers at chef mickeys, so i would presume any cntemporary restaurant. we ordered one for dd so she'd have something herself on her bro's bday. on the 23rd of april out came an 8 inch cars cake(pics to follow) along with her white chocolate slipper. it was identical to the pic posted a few pages back. minus the candle.

her slipper was 15$

Patiently waiting... :bored:

We are eating dinner for DD's 1st birthday at Crystal Palace b.c she likes winnie the pooh. I know I couldn't get a fancy cake there but when I called and spoke to them I am wondering if I should just call back and cancel. They kept pushing the $21 one that you order from the podium - but I really wanted something nicer for DD's birthday. I would love to have had the mickey head but was told it had crunchies on it and they couldn't do it any other way. I asked about a vanilla cake with whipped cream or buttercream - DD has never had chocolate so I was hesitate to do the crunchies pieces. I was told it is a very plain cake there will be nothing representing disney (no mickey like I see on the podium cakes) just plain flowers or sprinkles only. Also they couldn't tell me if the cake was peanut free or not. Our ped says no peanuts until 2 but they couldn't tell me if the cake will be an issue or not.

I am just wondering if anyone knows if the GF bakery will put a white chocolate slipper on top of a 6" fondant cake? There will just be 2 of us eating it. I want the smallest cake possible that can be special ordered. I am thinking Cinderella blue fondant with a slipper on top with pink gerber daisies and a butterfly... It is for DD4's birthday.

Yay!!! Spoke with Pat today and she said I could do as I had wanted!!! $66 is what she quoted me, which seemed reasonable. It's all coming together! I cannot wait!

I have two cake photos to post...these are from our Nov. 2008 trip. We ordered a cake for Asia (recently adopted by my parents) to celebrate her becoming part of family. My mom called Wilderness lodge and ordered the cake. What she told them to write on the cake was apparently too long and the person who decorated the cake had no clue how to shorten it. If I remember correctly she wanted them to write - "A Magical Disney vacation for Asia and her Forever Family!" That was way too long - I should have ordered the cake myself! What we ended up getting was - "Have a Magical Disney vacation for Asia" Then when our waiter brought out the cake at Whispering Canyon Cafe - he tried to get all fancy and was twirling around with the cake then try to do a little flourishy thing when he presented it and it fell! :rolleyes1 It almost landed on my son! I took the picture from the good side! The far side was a smushed in!! The funniest part was that our waiter was a real dud until that happened and then he woke up and became the best waiter ever! We didn't want to leave after that we were having so much fun.
Here are the details I remember

Price - I think it was $45
Date Received - 11/21/2008
Location - Whispering Canyon Cafe @ The Wilderness Lodge
Cake info - 10" cake; marble w/ vanilla buttercream and raspberry filling. I didn't care for the filling because I hate the little seeds but other than that it was good. It was huge and there were 6 of us. We ended up sharing with the table next to us and still had half a cake to bring up to our room. Didn't finish it at the end of the week and threw it away!

We also ordered a slipper dessert for breakfast at CRT. That was really good! I ordered it and I think it was $14.

guarn3md: EEEWWWW:scared1: You're CRT slipper is white chocolate...I am going there with my daughter and was going to order the slipper because CRT is the only one with real chocolate. What happened??? UGH!! I am sure it was delicious for you but it wouldn't be so for us.

When I ordered it in Nov. 2008 I didn't know I had a choice so that may be why we got it in white chocolate. Honestly I didn't care and neither did Asia. It tasted fine for what it was - a special dessert to celebrate my new sister. If I had a choice or knew there was a choice, I may have gotten the chocolate one, who knows...:confused3

I don't think there is a choice but I've read you can only get the real chocolate slipper at CRT; all others have the white. I am REALLY hoping for the real chocolate. I am glad you enjoyed yours and that Asia had a fabulous time!

Regarding the slipper dessert, they do NOT give you a choice. As far as they are concerned you are only offered the white chocolate slipper BUT some guests have been surprised with a dark chocolate slipper at CRT (not GF that I know of). There is no rhyme or reason for this and you never know if you'll be one of the guests that gets a dark chocolate slipper. It is very random and rare to see a dark chocolate slipper.

You can call and ask but I'm 99% sure they will tell you they only offer white chocolate.

Called yesterday, to the POLY and spoke w/ Cici, lovely girl. She quoted us for a 10" round marble cake, with Strawberry Custard filling & Butter Creme Frosting, topped with an edible White Chocolate Castle and Hibiscus flowers :love:for a VERY reasonable price...$ 60!! We're in! Just wish someone would post any pics from the POLY!! ;)

When I called the cake hotline (so funny to me!) the prompts ask if you are eating at the following: The Lua show, Ohanas or Kona Cafe. I just said Ohana. When I spoke w/ Cici, she said they need 48 hours notice and you pay after your meal. When you check in at the podium, just let them know you have a cake coming. Very simple. I'm really happy with how easy this seems! :thumbsup2 Just want to see some pics!! ;)

Thanks for this info. I didn't realize they were available at CR.

I have left 4 messages at the CRT cake hotline since 03/31. My reservation isn't until June 25th, but I am getting nervous. Does anyone know if this is normal??? I don't know what else to do.

I wouldn't think so....I've called twice and both times they answered, never left a message. :confused3

Just jumping in here since I will have cake needs in the near future.

:cake:

I'm looking for advice on whether to have a custom cake delivered to Chef Mickey's or our BLT Villa.
I'm wondering whether Chef Mickey's will be too hectic and I'd like the cake to be festive and special - going with my brother and his family for their first trip :wizard: There will be 6 of us.
For those of you who've had a special cake delivered to a restaurant, did you wish you'd had it delivered to your room instead? And vice versa, for those of you who had a cake delivered to your resort room?
Thanks!

i called and asked could i get a custom cake made and delivered at CRT i was told yes and was told to contact the Contempary Chef closer to the time as we do not go until Oct they also called CRT for me to ask if they will store the cake as we have an ADR for breakfast and do not wish to carry the cake around MK with us they said yes but i forgot to ask how much they charge for delivery from Contempary to CRT does anybody know??:confused3
