I would like to order a special cake to surprise my DD (graduation).
We are staying at the POR in early June, and have several ADR's (Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare, WCC, Ohana). Any ideas? :)

Hey Guys I need help
I call the cake hotline and ordered a Gluten Free cake for my parents and May 4th at Boma. The women I spoke with said that they would charge my credit card after it was delivered but she could not tell me how much it was going to cost. She also said that the chef was going to call and he has yet to call. Im going to give them a call on my lunch hour today, but i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the matter. Thank you so much

I have a question....

They say a 10 inch cake will feed 16, but does it really feed 16 or more like feed 10?

Can someone share pictures of any cakes from AKL? I saw 1 pic of a zebra cake but not no info w/ it. Thanks

Whoa, that's coming up! I definitely think you have the right idea to call. :thumbsup2

I'd say it will probably feed more than 16, depending on size of the slices. A two-tier Disney wedding cake is an 8-inch on top of a 10-inch and it serves 50 people.

I'd love to see some photos as well. I just ordered one for my son (graduation trip). I know I've seen them before but couldn't find a photo again.

I intended to order the platter with the cookies/brownies, and either the AKL plaque or the chocolate elephant but I was told by 'Leticia' that they do not do that anymore, so I settled on the zebra cake and 4 chocolate covered strawberries. I was quoted $40 for the cake and $3 for each strawberry. I asked if the cake could be deocrate in a graduation or Star Wars theme since those are the two reasons we will be there, but she said it couldn't be done, but she would ask for a graduation cap to be outlined on the cake. I am sure DS will be happy no matter what, but I would have really loved to have a fondant Yoda in a grad cap, or something along those lines!

So did you only get 1 choice from private dining?

No, I actually got 3 choices-the zebra cake, a Mickey face cake and a custom cake. I forget how big the custom cake was quoted as being, but I knew it would be too much for us. I figured the zebra cake would be better for just the two of us.

I ordered the zebra cake for our 10th anniversary. It was actually pretty good. The cake was moist and the amarula stuff in it was really yummy as was the ganache. Now I wanted Happy 10th anniversary on it and they had to squeeze it onto the cake plate since the cake is on the smaller size. It was more then enough for the 2 of us and most of it went to waste. We would order it again!

We are doing an illuminations cruise. If I order a cake for this, would I get it from the Boardwalk Bakery? Since it will be on the cruise, would they also provide plates and forks?

Thanks!!

I ordered the Haunted Mansion cake yesterday from private dining. It will be delivered to our villa at BLT. It's for my brother's birthday....can't wait to see it!!! Of course I can't wait to taste it!! :rotfl: The person I spoke with was so sweet! Thanks to her!! :goodvibes I'll post pictures when we get back.

For thos who ordered via private dining did you get a confirmation number/receipt for it or is it just a verbal confirmation.

Generally people order IllumiNations Cruise cakes from the Yacht&Beach Club Bakery, cuz it's closer, and they deliver it to the boat. We happened to bring leftover cake from a restaurant onboard our IllumiNations cruise and there were plates and forks already. :thumbsup2

I just read through this thread and there are some terrific stories and cakes on here!:)

My questions are:

1) The Cinderella slippers...where can I get them? We'll be staying at BLT but do have one dinner at Narcoossee's.

2) White chocolate is yucky:sick:...how do you get them in real chocolate?

3) Those cute little treasure chests; how would I order one of those for my son? I am not so sure he'd be happy with a slipper.:rolleyes1

Thanks everyone!

you can also get the slippers at chef mickeys, so i would presume any cntemporary restaurant. we ordered one for dd so she'd have something herself on her bro's bday. on the 23rd of april out came an 8 inch cars cake(pics to follow) along with her white chocolate slipper. it was identical to the pic posted a few pages back. minus the candle.

her slipper was 15$

Can you get the slipper at the Polynesian restaurants as well?

We're going to be at Chef Mickey's for my son's 5 1/2 bday so I wanted to get him a small cake , I was looking at the My mini Surprise pirate cake, anyone ordered this?and if so how was it??
Are there other mini cakes I can order in addition to this?

I planto order a specialty cake for my DH's birthday in June. I really want something unique and special, so which bakery would be a better choice? Yacht&Beach Club Bakery or Boardwalk Bakery?
We are staying at Boardwalk & have dinner ressies at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

I am just wondering if anyone knows if the GF bakery will put a white chocolate slipper on top of a 6" fondant cake? There will just be 2 of us eating it. I want the smallest cake possible that can be special ordered. I am thinking Cinderella blue fondant with a slipper on top with pink gerber daisies and a butterfly... It is for DD4's birthday.
