Hi there!
Hope you guys can me help me!
Me and my parents are travelling to the world on this christmas/new year's eve and on the 31th we're having dinner at Nine Dragons to celebrate my mother's birthday, which happens to be on the new year's eve!! =D:laughing:
So I'm thinking about ordering her a cake, perharps a fancy one.
From what I understood from Lurkyloo FAQ the Beach & Yachtsman bakery can deliver to Nine Dragons. Is that correct?
Also, can I place the order with only ONE phone call? Since we live in Brazil, I believe they are NOT calling me back lol.Should I call private dinning?

Thanks a lot!

It will probably take 2 calls, and some e-mails, if you want a custom cake. :) If you do indeed want a custom cake, call private dining; they will give you the e-mail address to correspond with re: the specifics; and once the specifics are determined, call private dining back again to place the order.

I have no problems on calling twice, it's just the part of calling back that worries me...
I'll definitely try!

Thanks!

They shouldn't have to... if I remember right, I did get a voicemail a few times when I called private dining. I hate leaving voicemails, so I just kept calling back :)

I'm in Canada, and they did call me back twice b/c they got voicemail here : ) It was also about 9Pm here (11PM there) when they called me back.

Though if they hadn't called back within a day, I'd have called again, and again :rotfl2:

Here's the Christmas-themed mini-wedding cake I ordered from Boardwalk Bakery. The inside was chocolate mousse and chocolate cake. I picked it up and brought it back to Ft. Wilderness (and maybe left it sitting on the counter for a few minutes...), so please excuse the sad, wilty buttercream-bulge on the side. It was perfect when I picked it up. It was delicious (extremely moist, it almost tasted like pudding in the inside it was so moist) and was more than enough for two people. We ate off of it for a few days. It was $25.

I am trying to get a holiday style cake in June when we go (we're doing Christmas in June with my in-laws). I think this is simple and elegant and would love to try and do something like that! Now I have a description of something and am super excited!!!

I would like a small (only 3 in our family) birthday cake for DD's surprise trip and dinner at HDDR. Is it possible to get a cake delivered there? Which number would I call? How small of a cake is it possible to get?

Hello!

We are back from WDW and Chef Brian did an INCREDIBLE JOB on our pirate cake! We were thrilled, it was both beautiful and delicious!

What happened next was very upsetting. We had planned to go back to our hotel to celebrate and continue the party, and our cake was destroyed! California Grill completely disassembled our cake and threw everything in a box, it was a mess. We got to enjoy the cake for 10 minutes before they removed everything from it, and even took the base off of the board it was sitting on. We couldn't get the bottom tier out of the box because it was just cake sitting in a box, no cake board, who knows what they did with that beautiful blue board! :confused3

So confusing.

At least we have some photos to remember how it was for a brief time. :rotfl2:

Unfortunately, the staff will do whatever it takes to get leftover cake into a standard-size box—you should have seen what our gorgeous 3-tier wedding cake looked like once they'd wrestled it into the standard cardboard cake boxes. It's just too bad you didn't get to enjoy the cake in all its glory longer.
:sad2:

Seriously, it's so easy to get a podium cake, you don't need to order it (and might actually confuse them). When you check in for your reservation, you just say, "I'd like a chocolate [or vanilla] celebration cake," and that's all there is to it! :thumbsup2

That sounds easy enough. :) We'll be getting the cake at HDDR. We went once six years ago and I remember that it was a different type of check in process. Which person do I ask for the cake? Also, will they customize it with DDs name? Thank you so much!

I am thinking it would be easiest to have a cake sent to the room at YC for a surprise for MIL but am worried about the variables.

Is there a particular time of day they tend to put cakes in the room? Can we have a cake delivered the evening we check in (we're doing a split-stay and moving from POR to YC)?

Also, if they put a cake in the room, do we need to worry about 'wilting'?

Thanks for any info!!!

I'm not familiar with the check-in process at HDDR, but everywhere else you walk up to a podium and give your name and then wait for someone to seat you. Normally I ask the person at the podium and then remind our server at some point during the meal. So if for some reason you aren't able to ask for the cake before you get to your table, you can always ask your server.

You can have them put the cake in your room at a specific time (as long as it is after you are checked in). I do think there is potential for wilting, especially with buttercream frosting — I had some flowers fall off the last buttercream cake I had delivered to a resort room because it sat out for a couple of hours before we got to it. Fondant holds up better.

TY so much for the info! I am a buttercream fan so I will definitely take that into account when figuring out the logistics. I'm half-tempted to order from Boardwalk Bakery and just bring it over while the family swims in the pool or something equally sneaky -- we're moving resorts on our 'off' day from the parks so I'm picturing an afternoon at SAB and me partaking in a covert 'cake op'.

You're welcome! :goodvibes At first I wanted something more elaborate, but with the dining plan and all its desserts, there just wasn't any time I could reasonably squeeze a larger cake in. I'm happy with the way it came out (especially for only $25).

Cute cake! :goodvibes

Thank you! :cutie:

I just called to order a Mickey Head Cake ($48) to our California Grill reservation in a couple weeks. I talked to Carolyn and she was super friendly and helpful. 6 minute phone call and it was all taken care of! :) Should I call the day before or day of to confirm everything or will it be fine?

What: Piped Mickey Face Cake
Where: Delivered to our room at Bay Lake Tower
When: July 2011
Flavor: Vanilla cake
Price: $48 not including tax/tip

This was very tasty and looked exactly the way I wanted it to (with the piping, etc.) The smudge on the left ear was our fault, we accidentally touched it before taking a picture! Not the bakery's fault!
