8" should be fine. My advice is know exactly what you want when you call. In my experience The order takers don't seem to know the right questions to ask. Have a list of wants in mind and then take it from there. If you wait for them to tell you, you won't get what you want.

Thank you so much!! :)

I ordered one cake and waiting on the Yacht/Beach Club to call me back with a quote and to finalize. :) I am excited. For my daughter's cake I ordered it through the Contemporary to be for our dinner at Chef Mickey's on her birthday. We went with a 10 in marble with White buttercream and dark chocolate mousse filling with an Aladdin and Jasmine 2d topper with them on the magic carpet over her castle. Also asked for some sugar flowers on the cake. We shall see. Crossing my fingers it is awesome. For the anniversary cake I am awaiting on a price I asked for buttercream with a wedding type look with red and pink sugar flowers and a banner that read Happy Anniversary that one is a 8 inch vanilla with fruit mousse. We shall see what the price ends up being.

Has anyone ordered a cake with a Marathon Mickey/running theme? I would love to get ideas/see pics! Thanks!

Good Luck! I got reply from my request and it appears we are all set to go. He told me it will be a great cake! 10" mad hatter , chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse, buttercream with fondant accents, sugar stars and a 3d 21 on top. my daughters favorite characters are Buzz and Tigger so I asked for a green, white and orange color scheme. I am excited!

Glad you got it settled - Hes been really great for me so far, but then again, I emailed him about 7-8 pictures, so he has no choice to know EXACTLY what I want! :lmao: I'm wondering if it would be possible for him to do the mad hatter shape on my cake too.... I'll have to email him to ask. I don't want it to up the price at all though, so we will have to see.
Anyway, glad everything is working out - You must post pics!

Yes, thanks for getting me in contact with him. If you see my earlier post, he was a bit vague and said we were all set before we had confirmed anything. I sent him a list of exactly my expectations, price and pick-up date and location. He replied with a "that's perfect, it will be a great cake" so I think we should be done! As for the mad hatter, all you can do is ask. He seems like a pretty easy going guy!
I will most certainly post pics as soon as I get home. Thanks again, can't wait to see pics of your cake too!!

HaS anyone successfully gotten in touch with Pat at Grand Floridian lately? I've called her number and left voicemails but have yet to get a call back. I'm tempted to use the pager number. I have only 2 weeks until I need my cake.

Well since my last post I received a return call from Pat. What I had in mind was a 6 or 8" cake in red velvet with cream cheese filling or a chocolate with peanut butter mousse. I was told I could only order chocolate or vanilla with white or chocolate buttercream, chocolate or dark chocolate mousse or whipped cream. I was quite disappointed and mentioned the cakes I've seen on here. I was told those special fillings and cake flavors are reserved for wedding cake orders because they make a whole tub of it. She said she could cover it in fondant for $15 more so I said I would go with a light blue, I was hoping they would take some creative liberties with the fondant decorations but I'm not sure they will. It will have cinderella's mice printed on white chocolate and say Welcome to my kids. I'm feeling very uneasy about the whole thing. She did not ask for any images and I don't think she'll be getting back to me for anything. She quoted me $66.

If I didn't want this cake for our first night I would have gone with The chef at CR. I'm crossing my fingers it will be better than I imagined.

I didn't speak with Pat but another lady. I wanted a 8" cake but to get a custard filling with strawberries, I had to get a 10" cake. Maybe it's the size? Of course, you're talking about different fillings too. Good luck!

She did all of my orders... per the ariel one i posted on the previous page i found a picture of one from a previous wedding event actually and emailed it to her asking for a 6 inch version... i was very pleased with the result - it looks exactly like the pic i sent in. If you are concerned sending a couple of pics that give her an idea of what you were thinking might help. Hope it turns out great... it sounds super cute!

If it's the size I would have loved the option to pay more to get what I want. She just didn't seem to want to get into it.

I'm going to try to follow up with some images.

I'm sorry if this has already been addressed, but I believe I read a post that differed from the page one information.

I want to know if I can order a specialty cake (not necessarily with fondant) with specific decorations to be delivered to Bistro de Paris in Epcot. I seem to remember a post that said the BW bakery can deliver there.

Is this possible? Can the BW bakery do a Tinkerbelle/Wishes cake for my adult daughter? Or would the Yacht/Beach club bakery do a better job with a themed cake?

Appreciate all advice.

I don't know the answer to who would do a better job but when I called BW bakery they said they would not deliver to anywhere other that the Boardwalk Hotel. They said they won't even deliver to other restaurants on the Boardwalk.

Here is some information I just found out: you cannot pick up a cake at one location and bring it to another location earlier in the day or the day before your reservation. If you want to do that you must bring the cake with you when you arrive at your restaurant for your meal. It is Florida state law that one restaurant cannot store any food brought from an "outside" location.

So if you want to get a cake from a bakery that doesn't support your restaurant just be aware of this situation. HTH someone.

They delivered one to Capt. Jack's at DTD for my birthday last July. We were staying club level at YC and the concierge arranged it, so maybe they were just nice about it, but they did it.

So I finally took the plunge and sent an email off to Chef Brian about creating a 6inch Simba and Nala Lion King themed cake for DD's surprise birthday dinner at CRT.I was as descriptive as I could be so I'm hoping he gets my vision.Though I am sure whatever he makes will be wonderful from seeing pictures of other cakes he's made:goodvibes

It's the Yacht & Beach Club Bakery that delivers to Epcot restaurants, not BoardWalk Bakery.

You can also order a regular cake directly from Bistro de Paris. The choices are chocolate/chocolate or vanilla/vanilla. They can do a screen print, but that's about it. Full details are here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=40915598#post2413710

The BoardWalk Bakery does make cakes for a number of other locations on property but you have to order it THROUGH THAT LOCATION. You can't call BoardWalk Bakery up and ask for a cake to be delivered to Olivia's at OKW. You have to call Olivia's, place the order, and have them work with BoardWalk Bakery.

Called yesterday to order my parents anniversary cake from Beach Club's private dining and they said they would call back and has yet to. How long does it take for them to call with a price quote usually? My daughter's cake I am ordering from the Contemporary they contacted me the very next morning.

I called and left a message yesterday for the Slipper desserts and I haven't heard back !!Should I keep trying !!!??????

My daughter will be turning twelve during our upcoming trip/end of August. She is a animal LOVER so for her actual bday we decided to go to AK then over to AKL to view savannahs, dinner at BOMA. She is always watching the cake boss shows so I was really hoping to get her a cool cake for her special day. I've read all the scarey reviews and problems with AK custom cakes but was crossing my fingers that I would get lucky. No such luck. Finally contacted by head chef after waiting a few days for response. I had asked for a price on a 10 inch fondont covered cake. I wanted to keep animal theme since that's the idea of our day. Asked for white with black zebra stripes fondont and then just a few molded animals around to make it have an animal kingdom theme. I would be willing to pay somewhere around $100. Well she told me it would be $35 to $40 for EACH animal on top of $70 for the cake no special filling.. nothing.. just wanted a cute looking cake for her. I think a striped cake with just one molded animal would not be worth $100. I guess we are settling for a plain 6 inch cake and I will have a local bakery do a nice cake when we get home and celebrate with rest of family. It's too bad the cake offerings are not more consistent among the bakeries. I've seen some amazing cakes that chef Brian has done for $85.
