Official DISNEY Cake Chatter Thread - Part II

Thank you, I really appreciate your response. The more I think it over though, (and read through this thread) the more I'm feeling like maybe I should just cancel it. Disney doesnt allow outside food in, do they? Like if I opted to order from a local bakery instead? Would I still be able to have it at 1900 PF? I'm just really worried after reading some of the stories on here, leaving my $100 cake up to someone else without having any idea what it will look like. I was told they were too busy to do what I wanted....yet then on here im reading about other chefs that are telling customers to send in pics and details....my whole phone conversation lasted less than 10 minutes :confused3

During the course of my cake ordering adventure, I found out that if you want a cake from the outside you have to bring it with you. You cannot have it delivered early. I don't know if they will serve a cake from the outside but they told me Florida law prohibits them from storing it.

I have a Jake and Tori too :lovestruc

So I ordered a 6inch Lion King themed surprise birthday cake for DD from the Contemporary. I sent the e-mail to Chef Brian and heard back in less than 48 hours that he would do it. I have since sent an email with a picture I like of Simba and Nala and some suggestions to give him an idea of what I would like to see, but also said he could be completely creative with this idea. So does he usually respond back once you've sent a more detailed email just to touch base?

Also once at CRT should I make mention of the cake as a reminder to the girl at the podium or try to secretly tell our waiter/waitress. This is surprise for DD and I don't want her to know until they bring it out.

Lastly, what percentage do you tip when you pay for the cake? (since it is separate from CRT and we are on the dining plan and the original dinner tip is included) Sorry about all the questions I am just so excited and I wanted to get an idea of how it all works:goodvibes

Hello all! Has anyone (besides the one in the photo gallery on page 1) ever ordered a cake with Marie and an Eiffel Tower at Disney? I found a little Eiffel Tower that I thought I could provide for the cake, if necessary, but I am having a hard time finding a little 3D Marie. Do you think they could make one out of white chocolate like they do for Minnie, etc? We are having my dd's bday dinner at CRT on her actual bday and I want the cake to be perfect. She just loves Marie! :lovestruc

Did you call first and get Brian's email or is it listed somewhere here? I haven't called about our cake for September yet....but need to soon ;)

I called first and told them what kind of cake I wanted then they gave me Brians email and he got back to me in less than 48 hours with a quote and instructions to call in my order.

I just stumbled on this thread... I don't know how I missed it before!

My BFF and I are doing a birthday trip next year for our 40th. I really want to order a cake for us. How far in advance do you need to order?

So excited. Just ordered 2 chocolate slippers, one dark chocolate, one white chocolate for my girls at CRT. I think they will be so surprised.

It was super easy to order them and they were super fast with their emails. Only $12.50 each, not too shabby :D

Well, I called Thursday and tried to get a quote from Beach Club private dining for a cake for my parents and still as of today have not heard back. They took all the info plus my credit card info and said it would not be ordered until they get back to me with a quote said it would be 24 hours to get back to me and still nothing. So I think I am going to cancel that request and just try to email Brian again and have it sent to our room at BLT. I emailed and ordered my daughters cake from the contemporary and wanted a different place to do my parents anniversary cake so we could compare but if they do not want to call me back I will go with those who do contact me back. The contemporary has been amazing with their communication for my daughter's cake. That was a wonderful experience and I am so excited to see it.

Okay....all those restaurants were pretty much booked for our arrival night except Fort Wilderness. I figured since he's turning 8, it would be a good place....then we could head over to the campfire after if we got done in time.

Sooooo, I don't have to be staying at the Contemporary, right? I just call Contemporary Private dining and I can get his email and work something out?

Thanks....:)

Right! :thumbsup2

Yes, because you need to know how much it will cost.

Also once at CRT should I make mention of the cake as a reminder to the girl at the podium or try to secretly tell our waiter/waitress. This is surprise for DD and I don't want her to know until they bring it out.

Both - they have a tendency to forget.

Whatever you feel comfortable with. We're always automatically charged an 18% tip on the cake because we use the Tables In Wonderland discount, and it always feels really high to me for carrying out a cake and cutting it. But maybe I'm just cheap! :rotfl:

They can't create 3-D versions of Disney characters or new molds for the white chocolate characters (apparently it takes a long time to get a new character mold approved), so what you would get is a screen print on white chocolate. However, if you had a figurine of the character, maybe you could work with the chef to get that put on the cake.

2 weeks to 2 days. :)

Interesting..... she took my order over the phone.... No fax. Hmmmm should I be worried?

Thanks Lurkyloo but I already received my quote:goodvibesI sent a separate email with a picture for Brian and colors I would like to see on the cake. Would I hear a reply back from him?

Did you do those or did Disney do those? They are great and I haven't seen anything like them anywhere else on this thread.

The answer to you question is at least 2 weeks.

I love Marie, too! It would be nice if they had a 3D version of her.

I had a 3D Eiffel Tower on my rehearsal dinner cake at 'Ohana. I was so surprised! I don't know if something like that would work for you since you already have a Eiffel Tower to give them.

Here's a pic of my Eiffel Tower:

I want to order the chocolate slipper dessert from 1900 park fare but I was wondering if they have the dark chocolate slipper or just the white? Also from the pics that I looked at on the first page of this thread it appears that the slipper dessert from 1900 park fare always comes with the little chocolate thing with the chocolate filing and white chocolate shavings, is this always the case and do I have to ask for it or does it just come with it when you order the slipper dessert? One last question, does anyone know the curent price of these??

Does anyone know if it's possible to put buttercream flowers on top of fondant? :confused3 My mom LOVES buttercream but I want to get a fancy fondant-covered cake and was trying to come up with a compromise. Thanks!

Thanks Lurkyloo but I already received my quote:goodvibesI sent a separate email with a picture for Brian and colors I would like to see on the cake. Would I hear a reply back from him?

I don't think I did. Just shoot him another email if you're worried. :thumbsup2

The Grand Floridian serves the white chocolate slipper, which always comes with the dark chocolate "boat." Last time I checked, the price was still $15.

Fondant-covered cakes are covered in buttercream frosting underneath the fondant, so there's no need to compromise. :thumbsup2 Also, you can request to have buttercream frosting between the layers instead of one of the various mousse fillings Disney offers, if you really love buttercream.
