Here is our college graduation Pirate celebration cake from Yacht & Beach private dining that was delivered to Yachtsman Steakhouse for our dinner. We absolutely loved it!!!

That Pirate cake is fantastic! I don't know if I would be able to cut into something like that. I would probably take 50 pictures before I cut it. They did a fantastic job with that cake.

I have a question concerning the price of a Haunted Mansion cake for DS's 6th birthday. I contacted Yvette at the Yacht and Beach club about a Haunted Mansion cake for our upcoming Sept. trip. I sent pictures of "the one that started it all". I read that the person that purchased the original Haunted Mansion cake only paid $65 at the Contemporary. I understand that prices may vary from resort to resort; but this is the price she quoted me!:scared1::) What do you guys think....What are my other options? This will only be from me, Dh and DS (6 years old). Thanks so much for your help!:goodvibes April

E-mail from Yvette......

Your options:

1. Since there are 3 guests in your party, there are a few options for you in cake size:

Ø 6 inch cake that serves 4-6 people: the price for this would be $76.00

Ø 8 inch cake that serves 8 people: the price for this would be $87.00

Ø 10 inch cake that serves 16 people: the price for this would be $100.00 {Please note that the cake pictured is a 10inch cake}

Well I'm shocked that they're even offering to make you a customized cake at Yacht & Beach Club that's less than 10 inches! I called them repeatedly over the last few months and weeks as I was researching my massive Disney cake project and, every single time, they told me that they'd only customize a 10-inch cake or larger. :confused3

The prices are definitely in line with what Y&BC charges—I'm not sure why the Contemporary can do things for so much cheaper, but they really do offer the best bargains of any Disney resort right now. Also, if you sent in the picture I'm thinking you sent in, that was an 8-inch cake, not a 10-inch.

I say go for the 6-inch cake if they'll really do one for you. Sure, it's more than the Contemporary charges, but if you aren't staying/dining at the Contemporary and Y&BC is your only option, at least you aren't getting WAY more cake than you need.

Compared with what I paid there, last August, these are rock bottom prices!! I was quoted $250 or more for my 10 inch, and got them down to $175. And they wouldn't even consider anything smaller than 10 inches.

Thanks so much for your help and quick response:goodvibes! We're staying in a Villa at BC so having the left over cake would have been great to take back to the room and enjoy for the rest of the week.:goodvibes Yes... I've noticed that the Contemporary (Brian) really has great prices on cakes. We ordered a hand-piped Mickey Head cake that was huge and was only 48.00:cloud9: It was awesome and DH said it was the best cake had ever had. Yes.... the pics I sent were these.....

I think I may just suck it up and get the large one... we'll eat on it all week.:cutie: Of course... for this price if it does not look like the pics I'll be pretty upset!:rotfl: DS thinks the bride with the ax is really scary and cool... I sent her an image from Flicker and asked if she could put the bride in the picture frame instead of the scary couple you see in the pics... she said could do it... we'll see!:goodvibes I'll be sure to post pics! Thanks again! April

No problem! Yeah, that cake in the pix was 8 inches. If it's just you and your son, I'll bet an 8-inch cake holds you for a week. We had 4 of us eating the 8-inch cake we got at Contemporary and only got through about a third of it!

Have fun—I can't wait to see pictures of the cake! popcorn::

Oh my! 250! OK, I'm not going to argue my price then! LOL! We're you pleased with your cake? Did you speak to Yvette? Thanks so much for the info! April

Thanks! It will be me, DH and DS. I'm positive the 8 inch would be enough, there's just not that big of a difference in price between the 8 inch and the 10 inch! LOL! Hmmmmm, maybe go BIG! LOL! Thanks! April

I actually did speak with Yvette. And yes, I was very pleased with my cake. Aside from the price, it was amazing!! I still have the painted Mickey in my fridge. I have posted it before, but here is another pic of it...

OH WOW! Your cake is amazing!!:cool1: Is this a 10 inch? This is so pretty! Did everyone love it?:lovestruc May I ask what the inside was? I asked for white cake with a layer of chocolate ganache between the cake layers. Thanks so much for the pic! April

That cake was from 2009. Cakes seem to have gone up a lot since then. I'd be shocked, if CR made that cake for $65 now. None of the bakeries appear to have a price chart, instead they seem to make it up as they go along. Your quoted prices really sound good compared to today's prices. I think you did good. :thumbsup2

Yes, it was 10 inch, and weighed several pounds! seriously, dh was complaining about carrying back to BWV by the time we got back there. It was choc w/choc mousse filling, and I think Choc buttercream frosting. There were only 4 of us, and after a few days of eating it, we left a good 1/4 of it behind. It was really yummy though! And we got tons of comments on it from the staff.

I had a version of this cake made last Aug at the Contemporary. It was 8pm and cost $65. It was amazing. I posted pics on this link awhile back. That seems like a big price jump for about a yr.

Ok, nothing special happening this year. Still would like a cake. Any ideas? It will be me, DH, DS 7, DD 4. The only think I could really come up w/ is an 8" (if I can) w/ buttercream in Cinderella blue w/ white piping for decoration and the small castle on the top. Can I get this at CRT in the MK? I thought about getting a price for there if it was possible and also pricing it for 1900 Park Fair. Thoughts and other ideas? Thanks!

How about a 'Happy Un-Birthday' cake? Or just do a ride theme cake like the Haunted Mansion. 'Welcome Home' with Mickey on top!

Thought you guys might get a kick out of these cakes I spotted a few weeks ago...

Here's an Easter cake made by the Yacht & Beach Club Bakery that was on display outside Cape May Cafe:

This is a good example of the kind of "character re-fashioning" the Y&BC Bakery does with the standard white chocolate characters. Prices start at around $65.
