Official Disney Cake Chatter - Part V!

Hey everyone - just wanted to share my experience with Coronado Springs (so far). I called the main cake line and was connected to in room dining. The CM was very nice and after talking for a bit, she said that if the delivery is not made for the Tower, then the options are limited to these cake flavors and are not custom cakes. But she did give me the number to the Tower - which appears to be off the hook right now but I'm going to ask if they do custom cakes and whether I can just pick one up from them since we're not staying in the tower next month. Will keep you all updated!

I did a little digging. It turns out that Yacht & Beach Club is doing custom cakes for the Gran Destino Tower (only—not for other rooms at Coronado Springs) and they are having guests call Yacht & Beach Private Dining directly to place the order, instead of the usual rigmarole where you have to order from your resort even though another resort makes the cake and that resort won't talk to you about any of it!

@sara_s I want to make sure you have the correct number, because the first one they gave me was disconnected: 407-934-3105.

That includes Toledo, right? Thinking of ordering a cake for our anniversary dinner. Thanks.

So that may be the snag I can’t get out of - we’re not staying in the tower. Should I even bother calling them to ask?

Alrighty - spoke to Y&BC private dining and they took down the information to pass on to the cake team. Here's what I'm going for:

6" vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling and vanilla buttercream. Light blue buttercream with piped bright colored Mickey balloons and a Mouseketeer hat topper. Message is "Happy 1st Visit Lukey!"

I told them a fondant hat is fine, but I don't want the cake covered in fondant.

No price quote yet as they have to send it to the team to get their thoughts (I hope they don't push back on the cookies and cream filling).

As far as delivery to CSR goes: this is a new process for them and while they're sure they can deliver it to CSR, it's just a matter of the location. Maybe Toledo, maybe the QS food court. I told them as long as they can deliver it to CSR, I can pick it up. So more details to come on that.

Fingers crossed! I'm excited to work with this team because the cakes I've seen are great!

Last week's episode of the Disney Wedding Podcast featured a couple who had not one but FIVE cakes at their Star Wars-themed Disneyland vow renewal. Interestingly, Disneyland's pastry team had no qualms about sculpting R2D2 out of fondant, something that has been forbidden to WDW pastry teams for years now....

It’s that time! Cake ordering time...after reading the latest, I am a little nervous as I chose Cali Grill for my birthday dinner after my last experience there was so great but that was 5 years ago and apparently things have changed. But reservation was obtained to watch the fireworks so I will let y’all know how the process goes. I am going for an Alice in Wonderland theme...probably a 6 in cake cause a mini is just too small and I want cake for breakfast! I have combed the threads for inspiration but happy to see suggestions! I am also going to order a mini cake from Coral Reef...thinking Christmas themed based on time of visit. I have seen some cute ones in the this thread but would welcome any other photo inspirations anyone has! Wish me luck!

Why is he sideways? :headache:
It's a bit of a glitch since the latest updates to the boards .. some pictures post sideways & I can't figure out which ones of mine do! I will upload it and it looks fine until i hit post and then it does what the picture (of that SUPER CUTE Stitch cake) did and turn on it's side

Well I did enlarge him, to give justice to the cake.

First time cake orderer!

Me and my fiancé are staying at CBR in December and I’m already thinking of what cake theme I want to order for his birthday. He’s a big Pixar fan, so I would love to have the Pixar luxo ball made on a dome cake (like the luxo ball mousse in HS)

From what I understand, I’d order from Boardwalk Bakery to have a cake delivered to CBR. But they only have the basic Mickey celebration cake as a dome cake, and I’m not sure they could customize it to be yellow w/ fondant.

I imagine Amorette’s could do this for me, since they’re known for their cute character/themed dome cakes. But then I’d have to pick up the cake from DS, and I really wanted it to be a part of the in-room celebration with other Pixar decor.

Let me know if you have any advice/ideas, or info that could help me out!

From Post #2:

Caribbean Beach* 407-934-2830
See BoardWalk Inn for options. Place order through Sebastian's Bistro at Old Port Royale at 407-934-2830

If you call BoardWalk Bakery directly they will tell you they don't deliver to CBR. You have to go through Sebastian's Bistro to place the order. Also, BoardWalk Bakery can do fully customized cakes. You are not limited to the basic Mickey Celebration cake. Whether or not they will do a shaped cake is something you and the contact at CBR will have to work out with BWB.
