Hi everyone :) I've been following along for a while and with the help from this board I ordered a wonderful mini cake last year for my ds. I'm going again in Dec and my dd fav princess is pocahontas. I haven't seen any pic on the cake thread and the ones I've googled are kinda :( I will prob have to design my own but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience ordering one and any pics? Thanks

My son is Dusty obsessed! Has anyone ordered a Planes cake at Disney? I know Planes is not as popular as Mickey or Cars. Do I just google photos and email something I like to the Pastry chef?

Thanks lurkyloo,

Difficult to call them as I'm in the Uk so I've dropped them an e mail - hope I get a response soon.

I emailed and got in touch with the CR last year. I did have to call and confirm/give payment details but I was able to go back and forth about the cake via email. I'd go with what Robyn said though, cost me about £15 from my mobile!

I just did a quick search on pinterest and a few neat ones popped up. Hope that helps!

Has anyone had any success providing your own figurine for a cake topper?
DH and I are going in Feb for my 40th birthday so obviously it's going to be birthday overload the whole time. But I'm thinking of surprising him on our first night there with an anniversary cake at dinner at CG. Why not??? since it will only be 3 days after our 14th anniversary. We never had a honeymoon so maybe my birthday extravaganza can make a little room for a long overdue honeymoon celebration too!
DH mentioned the other day that his favorite Disney movie growing up was Lady and the Tramp which is funny because it was/is mine as well. It's funny that it fits us so well. Oh how the stars align...
I was thinking of a mini cake since its just the two of us and we have the DxDDP. I haven't really seen any cake examples with this theme. Any suggestions?

Call from Skype, 1p per minute.

Thanks but it's not really the cost that's making it difficult - more the fact that the cake is a surprise and due to the time difference my husband will be with me when I'd have to make the call.

That's why I mainly chose contemporary because I can hopefully do most of it by e mail instead of needing to call.

On another note how long does it normally take to get a response to an email. I emailed them early Friday morning Florida time and not heard back yet - is that normal?

Thought that I would add a recent cake I received. I combined 2 cakes I saw on this thread and sent my request to pat at GF. The cake was delivered to my wishes fireworks cruise. It was a 10" vanilla cake with raspberry mousse filling and vanilla buttercream icing. The cake was really good. I was a little disappointed that the names were written on the cake crooked but my guests were happy with it. With tax and gratuity it was $150.

I have a late Oct res at an Epcot restaurant to celebrate a milestone anniversary for my parents. I left a message with the hotline 5 weeks before my res date, saying I was interested in a Haunted Mansion theme cake (mom's favorite ride and it goes with late Oct well). I got an e-mail the next morning laying out the "basic options." The e-mail was polite and everything, but said they "strongly recommended" the walk-up basic cakes, which I said I didn't want. When I asked about something a bit more customized, they responded that a consult would take at least 7-10 business days and they still "may not have time." I said since I was so far out from my res, I was happy to wait and sent some photos and ideas (thanks dis boards!). She asked me to send photos, but again said if I wanted to just get a basic cake upon arrival, to let them know. I went ahead and sent the photos and my budget, which should get me a decent cake based on posts here. I haven't hit the 7 day mark yet so I'm still waiting, but I didn't receive an acknowledgment of receipt or even receive an e-mail back saying that the request was forwarded to the pastry chef. I understand they're busy, but so far I've just felt like they're trying to push people to the standard cakes, which can't even have a personalized message, and that this is another area where the magic is starting to disappear. I would at least like to know if my request made it to the right person. If I do manage to get the cake ordered, I'll post pics in November.

I will be using cake toppers on my upcoming trip. I told the pastry chef I spoke with that I would be doing this and they are just fine with it, as they cannot do 3D characters. Hope this helps!

If we have it delivered to our room, there is a $3 delivery fee and 18% gratuity right? If we have it delivered during an adr, there's no fees but the 18% is basically included in our tips for that meal? So the only difference is the $3 fee?

Depends on where you are staying. We had a cake delivered to our room at Caribbean Beach while we weren't there and they didn't charge us a delivery fee or gratuity.

Cake recommendations please... We're staying at BWV. Some of the people in our party aren't staying the whole time. Here's possible cake day options. I'm open to doing 2 cakes. I would love to get the peanut butter cup mousse filling... What would you book? I want holiday themed stuff for Christmas probably.
1) 3 people- California Grill with one person missing before MVMCP (maybe a minicake for the 3 of us or slippers?)
2) 4 people- Garden Grill dinner all 4 of us before CP (not a big deal to drop leftovers off at BWV though)
3) 4 people- Delivery to our hotel BWV

What bakeries do fancier themed mini cakes? We have other reservations also (Ohana's breakfast, Chef Mickey's, Cape May, Artist Point) and really liked some of the fancy mini cakes. I am super overwhelmed by the info in this thread.

I would either do the California Grill (Contemporary Bakery) or delivery to the hotel at BWV (Boardwalk Bakery). Both do mini cakes! I believe the only other that does mini cakes is the Grand Floridian.

Still hoping someone can help me out!!!

Does anyone have pix of Olaf/Frozen cakes that were ordered at WDW that they could share on here?

Please!!!!!

There are two olaf cakes on page 4 - they are both mini cakes.

There's a frozen cake (two-tier, not mini) on page 45 but it was NOT ordered through Disney, delivered to WDW.

Two frozen cakes on page 19 made by WDW - the first from Grand Floridian Bakery, the second from the Boardwalk Bakery.

Hope this helps!

WOW, the pictures being posted are wonderful. Now I'm thinkin' I might just have to order me a b'day cake for my visit in December!

I would call them right now just to confirm that they got your request. :thumbsup2

If you have it delivered to your room at a DELUXE resort, there is a $3 delivery fee and 18% gratuity. There are no extra fees for room delivery at Values and Moderates.

If you have it delivered to an ADR there is no automatic 18% gratuity unless you are using the Tables in Wonderland discount card.

My daughter is sensitive to gluten, dairy (along with a host of other items) yet Disney was able to accommodate all of her allergies. We ordered a birthday cake, 3 cupcakes and Cinderella's slipper dessert.

I called Pat at the Grand Floridian about 3 weeks before our arrival and requested a 6 inch gluten and dairy free cake. She gave me the options of chocolate or vanilla. I chose chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Since it was for my husband's birthday I wanted to add something special to the cake, so I requested a 3 inch Mickey made with their dark chocolate that is gluten/dairy free. Pat called the supplier to make sure the chocolate would be safe for my daughter. The cost of the cake was $28 + tax ($23 for the cake and the Mickey figure was $5). We stayed at the Grand Floridian and asked for it to be picked up at Gasparilla Grill.

The cake definitely tasted better than any other gluten free cake I have ever had! There was plenty of frosting and it tasted very good also. I was extremely happy with how this cake turned out. I thought the price was very low- I live in an area with several gluten free bakeries and all of them would have charged more for a 6 inch cake. The writing on the cake was made with a thickened strawberry puree.

The only issue I had was that it took the staff at the Gasparilla Grill about 10 minutes to locate a knife I could use to cut the cake since I didn't want to use one of the small plastic ones they had there.

I also ordered 2 cupcakes through Pat and I picked those up at the Gasparilla Grill as well during our stay. They were kept at the register until I was ready to pick them up. Again, I had the choice of chocolate or vanilla. I chose vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. I was charged the same amount that the 'regular' cupcakes cost at Gaspy's, which I believe was $4.59. The frosting had real vanilla bean specks in it and was yummy. The vanilla cake was a little dry but most gluten and dairy free cakes are that I have tried. It was raining when I picked up the cupcake- ignore the raindrops!

For our lunch at the Crystal Palace I ordered a gluten/dairy free cupcake through the Magic Kingdom cakes email. I was charged $4 for this chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting. It arrived with a Mickey ring and Mickey sprinkles. I never said it was my daughter's birthday, but somehow the restaurant thought it was. I only ordered the cupcake so that my daughter would definitely have a safe dessert to eat there. We sang "Happy Unbirthday" to DD.

For our dinner at 1900 Park Fare, I ordered a gluten and dairy free Cinderella slipper dessert. They could not make the chocolate mousse that goes inside the slipper gf & df so I asked that they fill the inside with berries. The girls loved it!
