So I want to do a 6 inch cake while we are having lunch at Kona Cafe. I would like either Minnie or Frozen themed for under $70 is this even possible? Or am I being totally unrealistic? Does anybody have any suggestions for something else, pictures and prices will be welcomed!

Here's pictures of my dd's graduation cake. Ordered from GF for delivery at 'ohana--white cake, vanilla filling--$47.93--paid for at time of order (June, 2015). I discreetly asked when we checked in if it was there and they checked and said it was. They made a note on our reservation about it and that it was a surprise. We had to tell server about it when dd went to restroom at the end of the meal. We asked for it to be boxed up and for paper plates and silverware so that we could take it back to our room--we were full and also the Blackhawks were playing for the Stanley Cup!! It was tasty-/sort of reminded us of Boston Cream Pie.

Sure! It may limit the amount of theming they can do, but if you tell them that's your budget, they can do a very simple cake, if necessary. Though I think the standard Mickey/Minnie cake @MickeyReeds posted is probably your best bet because you'll already know what it looks like.

I hoping someone can help me with this... I ordered a cake to be delivered at LeCellier after dinner as a surprise for my husbands birthday. I do not think we will be able to eat all the cake and was thinking I would save what's left. We are planning on watching Illuminations that night also. When I ordered the cake I asked if the restaurant could keep it until we are ready to leave the park for the night. They informed me LeCellier can not do that, we will have to take the leftover cake with us after dinner. We are staying on site and will not have a vehicle. Does anyone have suggestions as to what is the best thing to do with the cake while we walk around world showcase? I should also mention this will be at the end of August when it is HOT. any advice is appreciated

No Disney restaurant is allowed to hold your cake after you cut it, due to health regulations. I like @Disney_Alli's locker idea. Or you could exit the park and check the leftovers with Bell Services at the Beach Club. They have a fridge they can put it in. But then you'd have to go all the way back there at the end of the night.

Can cakes be paid for with a Disney gift card? Are cakes always paid for at pick up? Or do they sometimes charge you when ordering?

The cake can be paid with a gift card if you have it delivered to your hotel room and then pay the hotel bill with the credit card, or if you have it delivered to a restaurant and pay that bill with a gift card. In the past they've just held your card when you ordered and then charged you when you paid for the hotel/meal. A few folks lately have mentioned being charged ahead of time. I'm sure you could talk to the person who takes your order about either using the gift card for the hold or making sure you aren't charged till you get the cake.

Well our cake order was a Disney fail. Ordered a Minnie Mouse mini cake to be delivered at our dinner at CRT last night for our day 1 dinner. Thankfully we weren't celebrating anything highly important like a kids' birthday, just a special "welcome to Disney" dessert. My husband was flagged 2/3 of the way into our dinner and was informed that our cake "didn't arrive". They had it in the system and just never received it. They quickly offered to improvise subbing a very modified Cinderella slipper dessert (I say modified because it wasn't even plated like the actual pictures I've seen w/berries, the berry coulis or the "artsy" stuff- they had flowers pressed into the mousse plated with the Minnie princess ear topper which we were supposed to have on our mini cake) atop a cake base inscribed with the wording we requested "Welcome **** and *****" and they spelled my 7 yr old DD's name wrong (after getting written confirmation by email for the inscription.... I should amend my child's name is traditional and is spelled the most popular way and has no weird spelling variation)

Needless to say that was disappointing, but we are not out $ and weren't charged for the modified Cinderella's slipper. So much for trying to order something special. DH and I are easygoing people so we just let it go. Can't say I'd ever order a special cake again even if there's something to celebrate, so we give the special Disney cake order experience a thumbs down.

I never thought of a locker - great idea. thanks

Not sure what size cake you are planning to get but just to say that once the cakes are boxed they are quite large. We used a locker at MK to store our 6 inch cake but the box wouldn't fit without being turned on its side. You can guess what that did to the cake. We didn't mind as we had already eaten some of it at dinner and it still tasted great when it was a bit misshapen :)

Last October my credit card was charged by the GF for a cake that was going to be delivered in November. I called to see what the charge was and they said they were doing it early because Thanksgiving week is so busy. I was surprised because we have ordered on several previous trips and were charged the day of delivery to our room.

I finally booked our trip for March 2017 & once we decide where we're eating, I'm totally going to order a cake because this thread! so excited! I'm thinking a mini cake with a villains theme (Ursula or Maleficent) but not sure on flavors yet. Can't wait!

I just ordered my cake from Y&BC Fine Dining for our fall trip. I used them last year for a Christmas cake and was very pleased.

DH and I discovered we didn't care for fondant so this year I cut back on the decorations which also cut back on the price!

As a surprise to DH, I am having the cake delivered to our room on arrival night while we are out. I ordered a 6-inch chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. The cake will be covered in chocolate ganache.

It will be decorated with a buttercream spider web design and will say "Boo To You!". Cake cost $23 and with room delivery and tax came to just under $32.

Thank you Carrie for maintaining such a fantastic thread and for the suggestions on the peanut butter and ganache combination!! I'll post a photo upon our return home.

This sounds so good, I totally copied you! I just ordered the same thing except mine will say "Happy Birthday Jacob!" since we'll be there for my DH's bday. Ordering through Y&BC Fine Dining was super easy. Thanks so much for the delicious idea!!! :teeth::thumbsup2

And thank you, lurkyloo, for maintaining this thread! It's one of my favs to scroll through. :lovestruc

ahh - I was just going to ask who you complained to - I want to write someone about our experience.

I would love to see a Donald or a Pluto cake! I'm ordering a cake for my son's birthday next month at BCV. They've made numerous cakes for us in the past and they were all amazing! Thanks! April

Please forgive me if this was previously discussed. I may have missed it.

The time had come for me to order my parent's cake. I called the cake hotline and most extensions have gone to email address contacts. I sent an email to the given address for all Magic Kingdom cakes. I got an auto-response with the following message attached.

***Beginning December 15, 2016, cakes will no longer be available at Magic Kingdom Restaurants. If your reservation is past this date, please contact us closer to your travel dates as we are currently in the process of re-imagining new offerings. Chocolate and vanilla 6-inch cakes will still be available to order at the podium upon check-in (please note these cakes cannot be personalized)***

Oh No!

I am super excited to order this cake from the Contemporary! Here are the details and my quote: I would like to order the attached cake with a few changes. I would like everything to be done in Minnie Mouse red / white / black. I would like the main fondant to be red. In place of stars I would like white polka dots or mickey heads. I do not want the number 13, just decorate it to match the rest of the cake. I am going for a Minnie cheer theme. We would like to keep this to 6" if possible and would like chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling.

I received this response in less than 24 hours: The price for something similar in Red White and Black Minnie Mouse colors would be $89 for a 2 layer 6” cake.

I am very happy with this quote! I expected at least $125. I will post a pic of the actual cake after my trip.

Looking for first birthday cake ideas for my son...

Staying at POFQ, need to feed about 8, looking to spend about $60. Would like as much Disney Magic as possible. Any suggestions? I'm looking for something more than a grocery store cake because I could just grab one of those at anytime. Bonus points if I can get some sort of mousse.

We thought about the Mickey Mouse cake, but now I'm thinking of seeing if something with a Woody theme is in our budget.

We would be having it at the resort in the evening with family who is going to be with us. I know they deliver to the room, but could we take it down to the pool or another common area??

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Anyone? Can you get the Mickey Mouse cake with filling?

The Mickey Mouse head cake is going to be your easiest and cheapest option. It comes standard with either chocolate or vanilla filling - no customization beyond that.

Yep! No rules about that!

Hi. I recently ordered a toy story (green alien) themed 6' cake from Chef Brian. We discussed about fillings, frosting, etc but not the number of layers. I've seen photos in this thread of 4 layers as well as 2 layers- do you normally get 2 layers if you don't specify? Would the cost go much higher if you order 4 layers? Please advice!

If it's really important to you, ask him to be sure. In my experience, buttercream-covered cakes come in two layers and fondant-over-buttercream cakes come with 4 layers. There is no price difference for layers.

Soooooooo, I hope you don't mind but your cake had me pretty much drooling on my keyboard so I had to use the idea for our cake order. Sorry! We're getting a 6" chocolate cake with chocolate mousse/buttercream (I can't remember which) on the inside, PB frosting on the outside, and the whole thing covered in chocolate ganache. There will also be a stethoscope drawn on top and the words "Congratulations!". It came to $48 total. Considering this graduation has been a long time coming, I figured it was worth it! lol
