Just to clarify...

Tiers = individual stacked cakes
Layers = what's inside the tiers

A one-tier Mad Hatter may have several layers of cake and frosting inside, but it's still just one tier:

True lurkyloo. Thanks for setting me straight. I was thinking incorrectly about the terminology.

I understand that, just repeating what I was told several times trying to order a mad hatter cake that is one hat one color and looks like one tier...it is considered and priced as a multiple tier cake because of how they are constructed.

Edited to add: sorry for the confusion, thanks for clarifying!

I am calling ASMu tomorrow to see if we can get a cake for 11/7. I know, I know... it's late, but I'm a procrastinator; what can I say? I know they will "do" what I want because automaticsoap ordered almost exactly the same cake that I want, except we want vanilla buttercream and basic christmas decorations (red and green). However... how do I get the cake? Will the deliver it to ASMu food court and I can pick it up there, or will ASMu deliver to my room? If they deliver to the room, are there extra charges (delivery fee, gratuity, etc.)? I know the people on the phone will answer my questions, but I'd like to understand a little more about the process before phoning (because we all know how reliable info from a CM can be!).

The Values will either make you pick it up at the food court or bring it to your room. There is no charge for room delivery because they don't have a Private Dining department like the Deluxes.

Thanks, lurkyloo. I've ordered cakes before and it's gone well, but I get anxious about ordering every time! Don't know why... control issues? I guess I just want to make sure I get what I think is a reasonable deal, and don't like additional "surprises"/costs. I'm ordering today, for next Saturday. Hmmm... HEY!! I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD IN A WEEK!!

We arrive in 8 weeks. I want to order a cake for our room for dh's birthday and one for our anniversary dinner at California Grill (we actually arrive on dh's b'day and our anniversary is that week also). Can I go ahead and call now or is it still too early? TIA!

Got my order placed for my December "unbirthday" cake today. Was getting nervous as I'd left 2 messages for Pat over the past 2 weeks, but finally got a call back today and conversation couldn't have gone better!

Originally wanted to do a Mad Hatter cake, but after ordering a mini a few months ago, know that would be way too much cake for the 4 of us. So had decided on an AIW themed mini, but Pat said she could do a Mad Hatter shaped mini with 2 3" tiers. She said they've never tried this before, so hoping it works out, but am so excited!! Will definitely post pictures when we get back! A very merry unbirthday to me :)

Not too early. I have ordered as early as 3 months ahead of time before.

Just an update. After 20 days, I did get a call back about the cake I wanted. The imagine of Cinderella & Prince Charming was approved and I was able to order exactly what I wanted. Yay!:D My DH will be so surprised. I asked if I needed to remind the person at check in (Captain's Grille) or our waiter & I was assured I didn't have to. But I'm pretty sure I've read online that I should. Any thoughts on this?

I don't see much information on this thread about ordering a cake to be eaten at Trattoria al Forno. Is this possible? Would I order from Boardwalk Bakery and will they deliver it to the restaurant? Can I get a fondant cake there with fillings like at the Contemporary? TIA!!

We will be in WDW in just under 4 weeks and I would like to place a cake order for my daughter's 9th birthday dinner at BOG. If I have followed along correctly I should use the email address for MK but the cake is actually coming from the Contemporary. Right? There are 10 of us in our party so I am thinking an 8" vanilla cake, with grey stuff filling. Still trying to decide on the decorations though. The 4 girls will be getting Pirate League make-overs in the morning, dinner is at BOG, my daughter's friend party at home will have a Little Mermaid theme, but her favorite princess is Rapunzel. Ahhhhh decisions, decisions, decisions!

All restaurants at the BoardWalk are serviced by BoardWalk Bakery, and yes, they deliver directly to the restaurant if you place your order through BoardWalk Inn Private Dining. Post #2 has all the info, including the flavors and types of cakes they do. They can do fondant and most fillings, though nobody seems to be as accommodating as the Contemporary...

Yep! :thumbsup2

I've been lurking here the last couple of days after we planned a pretty last minute trip to Disney. My In-laws are going down at the end of November and asked if we wanted to come stay with them for a few days and celebrate our daughter's 1st birthday. My mom and stepdad are flying in to celebrate with us so I figured we should at least have a birthday cake.

Since this trip was planned a week ago, there's not a ton on reservations available. I was able to get us in at Tony's Town Square for the birthday dinner. I emailed MK address today and received a response from Chef Brian. Of course, the reply asked if I would consider increasing my budget. I agreed to go from $60 to $70. Even that makes me cringe a bit. It's cake. Anyway, so far we've agreed on a 6" almond with buttercream icing. They will do piped on Mickey heads around the cake. He said they could do a flat edible image and the cost would be $53. I wanted a Mickey face that was a bit more interesting than a flat image. I was kind of thinking a piped on Mickey face but he came back with the white chocolate Mickey with gold accents for $68. I agreed to that and asked if he could maybe do some icing balloons or alternate the side Mickey heads red and black instead of just black. I didn't get a follow up email after that so hopefully I'll hear back by the end of the week. Keeping my fingers crossed for a pretty cake that is delicious!

Called this morning and ordered a cake to be delivered to our room at Coronado Springs in December. I was a little confused at first because I only got the option for Maya Grill at CSR, but when the lady (Evelyn, I think) answered I just asked about having it delivered to the room. She was really great and very helpful and I was able to order a mixed berries cake for dh's b'day and have it delivered to the room! I was quoted $20 for the cake and she said it would serve 4 people. It's just the two of us, so that'll be perfect. It should have Happy Birthday and his name also. Very, very easy process!

Now just have to to decide what I want for our anniversary dinner at California Grill. That one will take a little more thought...............

I would love to see a photo of the mixed berries cake. Perhaps you could post one after you return from your trip? Thanks!

I ordered a surprise-cake for our dinner at Kona Café in January a few days ago.

Pat from the GF was more than helpful and also understanding for my partial lack of English vocabulary.

It will be a 6" red velvet cake with cream cheese. It will be decorated in a beach theme with palms, waves, etc.

A few days later we will go on a (non-Disney) cruise and I thought the beach/the sea might be a good idea for a cake

I am very looking forward how the cake will look like and I will post some photos here for sure

These are the photos I sent for inspiration. I received a reply from Donald today and he said they would do the piped on Mickey heads alternating red and black.

This is the Mickey I really liked but they are doing the white chocolate Mickey. I showed my husband what it looked like and he said it was cute. I showed my daughter and she smiled so I guess she approves. That girl loves Mickey Mouse! And Mary Poppins! I found a neat Mickey candle with the number 1 online so I'm going to order that to take with us.
