I heard back - had an email from Brian from 7 am this morning! His email signature says he works Thurs - Mon so that might be why people weren't hearing back since he wasn't at work! He can do a 6 inch buttercream cake with a standing 2D of Jack skellington with bats, spider webs and skulls for $68. So now I have to call the cake hotline. So what's that like? Do I just tell them everything I wrote to him in my email? I emailed him a picture - how do the cake hotline people know? Or does he save my email and compare the order? Just worried that the cake hotline people won't understand what I'm describing! Nervous!!!!!

I used the MK cake email, but they had all of the information from the Contemporary bakery already on hand when I contacted them.

When you call that number, you are being transferred to Private Dining at the Contemporary, where Chef Brian works. It's not a big deal. Tell them EXACTLY what you confirmed with him and they will match your order up with his notes and any photos you sent. Then call back a few days beforehand and have them confirm everything you told them.

Thanks Lurkyloo!! I did notice that Chef Brian's email to me cc'd Private Dining. Ok I feel better! I will call tomorrow morning! Thanks again!

Chef Brian wrote me back yesterday, they can't do the writing on the mini cake, not a surprise. Going to see if it's worth going to a six inch or not, and if he can do the idea I had. :) very excited to get that email

I've been scanning through the threads trying to find the page that has several links to cake ideas. Does anyone know where I can find it? I've seen it before and I thought it was on the Cake Chatter II thread, but maybe I missed it. Trying to get an idea for my daughter's birthday cake for this year. Last year we did Minnie. This year she wants Mickey. Thanks for your help!

Has anyone done a Buzz Lightyear cake? We're doing Disney right before my son's 5th birthday (actual day falls two days after we leave) and he loves Buzz. I was hoping for some kind of awesome Buzz cake. We're staying at BLT and only doing a few TS meals so preferably delivered to the room would be best. I'm kind of lost as to where I should start.

See the first page of this thread for some links to photos. Carrie has the section labeled PHOTOS. Also, if you can't find what you are looking for, people have luck using Google to look up Disney themed cakes. I just recently ordered a cake for our upcoming Christmas vacation and knew that I wanted a holiday themed cake but didn't have any ideas. The CM that I worked with (Yacht & Beach Club Fine Dining) sent me a photo of a Christmas cake that they have done before. I loved it so that is what I ended up ordering.

Good luck!

I'd just do a Google search for Buzz Lightyear cakes and then send the images you like to the Contemporary pastry team via the email listed in Post #2 of this thread. There have been a couple posted on this board over the years, but it'll be easier to dig 'em up on Google.

I've read over the first page with the options at Coronado Springs. We'll be there in December and actually check in on dh's birthday. Does anyone know what the mixed berry or oreo cake is like? I'm guessing the mixed berry cake has various berries either in or on the cake? And the oreo cake just makes me think of a cake with oreo cookies on it. I'm just trying to figure it out so I know what to order. Any info. or pictures of ANY cakes from this resort would be great!

Here's the sold-by-the-slice version of the Oreo cake. I found it pretty bland, but I'm not into mousse and whipped cream.

Here's what the slice of the mixed berry looks like...

So of course the Star Wars rebal alliance symbol has to clear legal and will take too long. On to idea three! I am going to try and search here for Star Wars, I feel like they don't want to go back and forth in too many email for what's a $35 or so order. I assume. Then again I've said a few times that I will consider a six inch if they have suggestions, but no response to that. So I will decide myself and not ask them.

So here's my question for you guys...
My original plan was the mini cake, but to eat our Cali grill dessert, bring the cake to share with the kids at the poly when we pick them up and watch fireworks. Now it am thinking the six inch might make more sense, we can all really enjoy it. Or I can eat the mini with my husband, and ask them to pack uo desserts from Cali for the kids.

What do you think? The cost difference is big but unless I do a ton of fondant it won't be THAT bad....? Which would you choose?

The cost difference might even go the other way... My haunted mansion mini cake was $5 more than the 8 inch beauty and the beast cake my sister had made for my anniversary

Dang... Did you let them know you were unhappy with the cake? I can't believe they didn't even do the frosting color right!

I didn't let them know--the cake was a surprise for my partner and she totally loved it. I didn't want to take away from her happiness by complaining about how far the cake was from my requests. I just thought I would report back on my experiences to others who are ordering cakes. I've had great luck previously, but I think it's important we all know how the process can go wrong too.

You can have a cake delivered to P & P , but it is not really the best location for that. The cake would be delivered during the 30 min meet & greet portion of the party before you go on the boat. Not only would your time to enjoy it be very short, you would then have to transport it with you while out viewing the FW and during the meet & greet with Peter Pan.

I was wondering if it would work and when we'd actually get the cake.
We've changed or plans and now getting a wishes cruise from the contemporary and hoping to get a pirate cake ordered for that. Got an email from Brian this morning so hoping it shouldn't be too late to get something.

Does anyone know offhand about how much it costs for the chocolate Jedi Mickey? I can use him, leia Minnie, Darth, the droids....a few others on the cake so scouring for ideas. I think I might go crazy and get the six inch after all so the kids can share :)

Hi :wave2:
I am So excited:goodvibes that Chef Brian will be making my birthday cake:cake: for our dinner at Cali Grill on October 18th.party: We went back and forth a lot but finally got it all straightened out.

I wasn't sure if i wanted a pink girly cake or a Halloween theme. After much debate i ended up getting a 6 inch Orange Fondant (hopefully changing to buttercream) chocolate cake with white chocolate mousse. And a 2D picture of the Fab3 (Mickey, Minnie and Pluto trick or treating) in Halloween costumes.

I'll post a pic once i'm back.:flower:
