I am still trying to figure out what to do about MVMCP. On the one hand I think it would be a great experience as we won't make it back for a LONG time...and most likely not this time of year again. On the other hand it is a big chunk of change for my family to take out of our Disney budget. With DS3 and DD4 being so young I am not sure if its too late for them. Part of the problem is I want to see Holiday wishes and the parades...but I am not sure the kiddos would even make it that long. And again, there is that money issue of the tickets costing our family over $200. Just not sure. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3
And by the way, if you have any children who haven't turned 3 by the time of your vacation, they are free. Also, select nights are discounted. It's not much, but it helps, so we like to choose those cheaper nights to attend the party.

Thanks so muck for posting the times for the parade and holiday wishes. That helps a lot!

The cost is obviously the biggest deterrent. My husband is all for going -I'm the one having more trouble swallowing the ticket cost. We have base tickets for every day we're there so if we didn't go to a park during the day that ticket would be lost/wasted.

Ugh. I just don't know. I really want to see Holiday Wishes and the parade. :upsidedow

Since you already have base tickets, you'd be fine to still visit the parks on the same day as MVMCP. You may just want to stop a little early to get some rest in before the party.

This is how I see it. For us, I think it's fun to sometimes do things for the adults. Will our youngest, who will be 2 in December, remember the times she went to MVMCP at 2 months old and 14 months old? No, but we will remember the fun we had and the pictures we have of her. Plus, she was free to get in! So why not enjoy the party for yourself while at least one of your children are free to attend? I figure that even if our children fall asleep, at least we experienced it and we can decide to do it again in the future or not. As far as I'm concerned, I like to enjoy as much as I can while our children are still free or charged at reduced rates. Ticket prices only get more expensive as they get older!

We just planned our trip back this year. We will be at pop 12/5-12/10. I can't wait! It's Belle's first Disney trip! :yay:

Hmmm....if you don't think you will be back for a long time and probably not at this time of year, I would consider going. Is there any other aspect of your vacation where pennies can be pinched? I'm assuming you have the free dining?

For us, we pull back on the number of nights we stay in order to accomodate our overall budget. Would shortening your vacation a little be worth it for you to attend MVMCP?

I am the money person in our family, so I totally understand that Disney experiences rack up dollars quite quickly!

Thanks for the ideas. I will have to take a look at things. There are some things I just don't want the kiddos to miss this time...mostly BBB and PL. They know about those things and are so excited. I also booked the Wonderland Tea Party for DD. She doesn't completely know but has an inkling that something is going to happen with Alice. I know those things can't be cut. We did get free dining and upgraded so we could do a lot of character meals. Not to mention DH would be crazy and grumpy if we lived on quick service all week.

I really am hesitant to shorten the trip. We are driving 20 hours from central PA to get there. 10 days seems like a nice break before the 20 hour trip home.

How do I find out which nights are discounted? I am assume that is the pre-order stuff???

I know if the kids were 6 and 7 I would do it in a heartbeat and just find the money in the budget...somewhere. I worry about spending the money only to have them fall asleep at 9...and then being exhausted the next day.

There are just so many things to weight. Its also hard to decide of the little extras are worth the +$200. Thanks for the advice. Please feel free to keep passing it along. I am so on the fence about this.

Hey everyone! I've been lurking on this thread and getting excited for my December trip!!!!!!

Can you guys help me finalize my itinerary? I'm having trouble deciding which day to spend at Magic Kingdom. We will be doing MVMCP another day and also having breakfast at CP our last day, but we do want to spend a full day there!

My options are Saturday Dec. 11 or Monday Dec 13. Both are days with Spectro and Wishes (must-dos for us!). I realize it will probably be pretty crowded because of the limited days for these events during December. However, I'm wondering which you all think would be the better day? Saturday Dec 11 MK stays open until 10PM, on Monday Dec 13 it has EMH from 8-11PM. I'm wondering what everyone else would choose and what you think my better option is!! We are two adults and will most likely spend the entire day at the park!

Wow, so if you are already doing BBB, PL, and the Tea Party, and they can't be cut, then I can understand passing on MVMCP. If so, I would make sure to do as many other holiday things as possible. For example, seeing the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian, the Jingle Jungle Parade at Animal Kingdom, Osborne Lights at Hollywood Studios, Holidays Around the World at Epcot, etc.

If you do decide to attend MVMCP, here is a link to the website. Click on "Order tickets online" and it will show you the schedule. You will see that certain dates have a Discount Purchase Price. Adults go from about $60 to $54 and children go from $54 to $48. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/pa...ial-events/mickeys-very-merry-christmas-party

I would choose Monday. When we have the option, we always go with EMH. I know alot of people stay away from parks on EMH days, but I have found the extra hours to be such a great benefit! (By the way, I'm assuming you are staying on resort and will be able to take part in EMH.)

I'm seeing a lot of posts about MVMCP. We're two adults in our late 20s/early 30s, and we don't have any kids. We had planned on staying away from MK on the MVMCP days because we figured the park would be more crowded. Is that true? Also, we thought the park would be closing early to regular park guests, and you would have to have a MVMCP ticket to stay later. Are we mistaken in that as well? If we could stay, would we enjoy the festivities at all? We're trying to plan our itinerary as completely as possible (low crowds and making all our ADRs).

The party starts at 7pm and the CM's will be ushering out guests that do not have wristbands. You are not supposed to be in the Magic Kingdom ater 7pm without paying for the party.

If you want to see Christmas shows, a fantastic parade, unique character meet and greets, and an amazing fireworks show I suggest buying the tickets for the party. The rides are easier to get on during the party as well. We love it, this will be our 4th year in a row :goodvibes.

I never noticed that the park was more crowded on MVMCP days. The park does close to day guests at 7pm and you MUST have a seperate ticket for MVMCP, you are givena wristand and CM's will check, if you don't have one, they WILL escourt you out of the park (I have seen it done).

The first year we went, it was DH, myslef and my 58 year old mother and we loved every minute of it. These parties aren't just for kids. We didn't even ride any rides, we just went from one show to the next, and enjoyed the parade and fireworks, as well as the hot chocolate and cookies, and the snow on Main Street.

I took my cousin and her children in 2008, there were 3 adults, 1 teen, and 3 children (3, 6, and 10), we started with dinner at LTT and by the time we were finished there, the party had started and we had a blast. The kids went to the different dance parties and had hot chocolate and cookies everytime they got a chance and visited many of the characters in their Christmas garb.

I do have to say that there is a huge difference in seeing the parade at night, then there is seeing it during the day. We have gone Christmas week and the parade is shown during the day that week and it is different, it is much better at night.

We will be at POP the exact same dates! It will be myself,DH and DD who will be 3 (and her middle name is Bell). First Disney trips are always exciting!!

We have base tickets for every day we're there so if we didn't go to a park during the day that ticket would be lost/wasted.
Remember that after the 4th day, an extra day's base ticket costs $3 per person. So if you "waste" that 4th day, it's a whole $12, assuming that you paid adult prices for both kids.

I'd discount that particular issue.

This is a fantastic point and an angle I didn't even consider.

Right now I'm leaning towards going. I'm afraid it'll be a couple years before going again in Dec and I don't want to miss the magic.

Does the party draw a lot of local FL residents? I wonder if a Thurs would be less crowded or a Fri.

Thanks Emma. Where do I find the list?

There's a link in my signature :goodvibes

Anyone into the whole Vinylmation thing? Wondering if they will have any special releases in December? If I could get a limited edition one I might actually buy one lol

I have (only) bought one so far... it was from last summer - it's a Little Mermaid themed one :goodvibes ... last December there was a special holidays range so I'm sure there will be again this year!

My husband and I will be staying at the AKL Dec 12-18. This will be his first trip, and our first trip together. It'll also be the first trip alone for us since our son was born in Nov 2009. Needless to say, I am so excited!

I'm hoping to make this a great trip for my husband. He is definitely not in love with Disney as I am, but I bet that will change come December. pixiedust:

We have ADRs for the following dates/times.....

We can't wait! Let me know if any of you guys will be there at the same time for any of our dining experiences or tours. I would love to meet a fellow Disney enthusiast!

added to the list! :thumbsup2
it sounds like you have a great trip planned.. sure your DH will be in love with Disney by the end of it! :cloud9: interested to see what you think of the Segway tour.. my DF has said he'd like to do this on our honeymoon next year!

Emma princess: x

Hi Emma! Fancy meeting you here

Can I join the thread? I'm going to be at the Pop Century November 27th to December 7th with my DH, DS14 and his girlfriend, DD13 and DS5 and I have a PTR going in my siggie.

I have a lot of catching up here to do! :surfweb:

Yes, I would assume the party is popular for local residents. If both days you are considering are discounted, then I would go with Thursday, which would probably be less crowded. But if only one day was discounted, I would go with whichever day was cheaper.

wahoooo! Our airline we are flying on now charges for carry on bags unless you can fit them under the seat so we are planning on understuffing book bags and putting them under the seat. I saw Toysrus and a little mickey pull along book bag for 14.99 and you got a free lunch tote which will be good to keep some drinks cold in the parks so I just took a trip over there to get it.I figured I would go get the bag for DS's carry on bag. I just had a 20% coupon emailed to me for being part of their rewards program so I used that too..THEN when I got there I saw they had a sign up for a free pack of Kooky Toy Story pens (heres the link they r cute.. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4100305&type=effect&promoId=4323460 )

Didn 't think they would let me use all discounts but I thought it was worth the try.. anyway it worked! So I got the bag, lunch box and pens for $12.83 including lovely NJ tax lol! Wahooooooooo!

We are visiting WDW in early December as well.
I'm a little confused about the MVMCP Tickets as this is our first year...
Are they all the same price or are some discounted based on dates?

Thanks for the help!!
