**Official December 2010 Thread!!** - PART 2!

:cheer2: Yay! :cheer2: We bribed our children to do everything. We had a prize closet full of Thomas trains. When they acomplished something they got to pick a prize. Worked great! :thumbsup2

As far as in the world, that will be a tough one. It seems like my DS has to go every time we get in a line. I think I might go with some pull-ups just in case. :goodvibes
lol, hey, whatever works, right? yeah, we are definitely doing pull ups, he just went for the first time this weekend, so it will take some time to get to full blown underwear only. I figure after the trip, we will start going with just underwear. We did do underwear mostly this weekend at least while at home and he did okay. still no #2 in the potty yet, so we are only halfway there.

Bring extra clothes! We've had some accidents at WDW with our oldest and our youngest is potty training now. Also, the Baby Care Centers are awesome! Make sure you pay attention to where they are. There are some nice ones by the Crystal Plaza in MK and between Future World and World Showcase in Epcot. We also keep a plastic potty in our car for last minute bathroom breaks (and we line it with a diaper for easy disposal!). I don't recall if you are renting a car. If you are, you could buy an inexpensive potty when you get down there.
we will definitely have extra clothes too and we love the baby centers, they are awesome, we used them a lot last December.

We weren't potty training last time we went but I was there alone with the girls and before we got in any line we went to the bathroom
good idea

The same thing happened to us! I was sooo excited to see extra F! and MSEP, but then I saw that the park hours were now starting at 8AM on 12/18...when I have an 8AM ADR at Crystal Palace! Now to decide if we would rather spend our last morning eating breakfast or riding rides!!??!?

Won't they just push back EMH too?
YES! they will push it back. so if the hours changed from 8pm to 9pm, then the pm EMH will now be midnight instead of 11pm.

WOOOHOOO tomorrow my bathroom should be done!!! Then I can get my house in order for Turkey day and then its getting ready for WDW!!

I saw they added a TON of hours for when we are there. Which means I will have to look over my touring plans and we all know what that means change in ADRs. LOL

Does anyone know if you can add a Fantasmic package to any new dates and times they added?
yeah for the bathroom- pics? good question on the F! package- might be worth a call tomorrow to see?

Yay!!! :woohoo:Jack has been working on it for a few weeks now, but he seems to be stuck in a rut. He knows he is supposed to go on the potty, and he does about 75% of the time, but he doesn't mind going in his pullup either. I bribed him a lot when he was starting out, but I am starting to pull back now that he isn't trying very hard. I had wanted him potty trained before our trip, but I actually think pull ups are the way to go because having an accident at the park would be AWFUL and way more difficult than at home.
yeah Jack! yeah, pull ups for us until after the trip at least. :thumbsup2 yeah, we won't go straight underwear until after the trip, plus he isn't going #2 yet in the potty. he has been going on his little potty, but has tried standing at the big one too. He is in day care too, so we gotta make sure his teachers are on board with potty training too- they are usually great- in fact most of the kids in his class are already there or training too.

Found some very nice lime green fleece jackets on sale. Now my wife wants to sew on a WDW patch to make them special for our Dec trip. Any ideas where we can find some nice sew on patches?

Try etsy.com- i ordered some adorable little mickey patches there last year, they were iron ons, but i am sure you can find some that can be sewn on too. just search mickey sew ons or something. sounds like a cute idea!

Time is flying! I just finished my last big assignment for the semester so all I have left are finals. The only thing I have left to do for this trip is buy universal tickets. For my january cruise I need to pay my grats and figure out where to leave my car in San Diego while we are on the ship. I also need to do something with my LGMHs.

2 1/2 weeks left!!!!!!!!

In 2 weeks, we will be in Disney!!!!!!!! I am starting to pack and wondering if we should even think about bringing bathing suits. DD5 is going to want to try out the pool but I really dont think twin DD1 will be able to handle it. Last time we were there was in Oct and it was chilly, even though they say they keep it at 70 something.
So, bathing suit or not? Also, do people wear shorts in Dec or is it too cold?

That's what I am wondering too. I think if is according to where you are from. Someone from up North leaving 30 degree weather would think it was a heat wave....I don't think I will be jumping in a pool but a hot tub maybe!

We are having weather now 40-50's are the lows and to the upper 70's have been then highs... and that is about what it is there in Dec. or even to the 80s. So I think shorts or capris would probably be good most of the days, but it could get cool at night.

Does anyone have experience with the parks closing due to capacity crowds? Does it usually only happen on Christmas Day? I'm really only concerned with our last day, the 23rd.
I was planning to try for rope-drop for the morning EMH (looks like they will be at 7am!) and spend 2 1/2 hours hitting our favorite rides.
Then head back to the resort to finish packing & check-out.
We have a resort ADR after that and then we would head back to the MK until we need to leave for the airport on ME.
Now I'm wondering if I should re-work my plan with the possibility of park closure. Anyone know when the park usually closes/reopens. Thanks!

Micefan, great minds think alike ;)

I was wondering about that too! I would hate to go back and rest and not be able to get back in....especially since I don't have park hoppers!

But getting there at rope drop, back to resort to check out by 11...won't leave you much time in the morning at the park, if your are using the bus. I would be packed up the night before, check out, they will hold/take care of your bags and spend more time in the park and be back in time for DME. I am pretty sure that is what we did our last day.

I went the first week of December last year and we brought suits but never ended up using them. It was only in the 80s one day and low 70s upper 60s the rest of the time. I think I will be bringing them again though in hopes that I might make it into a hot tub this year.

My dad wore shorts everyday. I just wore jeans and t-shirts each day. In the evenings it got cold and I would wear a light sweatshirt.

Every year we make a trip to Disney and each year it is different, 1 year it was nice & warm during the day however at night it was in the 40's and very cold. I make a rule to bring a little of both capri pants and a polo shirt for during the day & at night I wear jeans with my disney hoodie and sometimes I will even bring a scarf & small gloves that I keep in my pockets in the hoodie as my hands get cold first. Of course, we always bring a bathing suit, better to have it and need it, then need it and not have it, I always say. :santa:

We definitely wear shorts when we are down there. We also always bring bathing suits. Even if there are some cooler days, we've gotten in the water every year. Some days it's downright hot, so bring a sampling of everything!

Last year we swam 3 days and wore shorts every day but 2. At night we changed into pants and sweatshirts

Also, you can check the 10 day forecast on weather.com to see what is predicted for highs and lows.:surfweb: Not that those can't change, but it may help. This is our first trip to WDW in December also, so we're hoping for the best.:rolleyes1 Here in Ohio it will be pretty cold, so Florida has got to be better, right?!:rotfl: Have a magical trip!:wizard:

:cool1::banana:Doing the 20 day dance!:banana::cool1:

It has been a long week. My DF's dad passed away :sad1:and I (and two other barn girls) had to take care of the horses. While DF was away, I also had to sub at work to help fill in for some of her hours. I was up at 4 a.m. to be able to feed by 5:45, go to work, back to farm to do chores and feed again and I was in bed by 8:30 p.m. I honestly don't know how my friend does this day in, day out, 365 days a year, rain, snow, etc. I'm still trying to recharge my batteries! But in the long run, I would do it all over again if she asked me!
Also, her husband had been out of town for two months so she was doing most of this by herself!:confused3 Of course, now that he is back in town, he wants to schedule "horse games", where anyone with a horse (your own or borrowed) can compete in different games just for fun.:thumbsup2 Unfortunately, I cannot compete in this one because my hubby won't let me do anything risky right before vacation for fear of me hurting myself; Always a possibility because I'm such a klutz!:rotfl2: So, my horse will be in the games but I won't be!:sad2:
I am so ready for my vacation!:worship:

You should be good. I know the last 2 years we have been there from around the 18-26th and the only day there was a closure was on Christmas day and it was just the MK and it was open again by dinner time. I definatly wouldn't chance it though on Christmas day but I think you should be good for the days before it.

It closes in stages and onsite guests are only locked out of the park at the last stage. You can always ask at the front desk if they are at any closing stage when you are heading to your ADR they should be able to tell you. If they are at a 1-2 and the MK is the park you want to go to then maybe skip the ADR and head to MK to do a CS.

In 2008 we wore shorts all but one day and we spent 2 days in the pool. Now that year it was in the 80s most days. Now last year it was in the 50's all but one day and we were in layers most days. Now I made the HUGE mistake of looking at the forcast and seeing it would be cold so I took the bathing suits out of the bags. Of course 1 day it was 80 and my kids were VERY upset with me for not bringing their suits and they could not swim. SO the first thing to go in the bag this year was the bathing suits. LOL I am still getting grief about the bathing suits from last year. So I told them they are going swimming even if its 40 below LOL.

Hi All, I wanted to offer up two extra tickets I have for the December 14 MVMCP. They are for 2 adults and are free to whoever wants them. Just send me a PM. :santa:

Won't they just push back EMH too?
Yes. EMH is always 3 hours after park closing, whenever that closing is. So if the closing is pushed back an hour, so is EMH.

Same for morning - it's always 1 hour before park opening, whenever opening is. So if opening changes from 9 to 8, EMH starts at 7.

That is, assuming that the days for EMH don't change (and there's no indication yet that they have).
Does anyone know if you can add a Fantasmic package to any new dates and times they added?
If they've added a single show on a date that didn't have one, you should be able to book a package.

If they've only added a later show to a night that already had one, there aren't any more packages available. The package is only for the first show of the night. However, it may be that people will cancel a package if they now want to go to the second show, so it may be worth calling.

.

Thanks! That is great to know. We are really hoping to make the most of every moment. My girls are not early birds, so the later the better. Besides the lights twinkle brighter late!

I called late yesterday, and the CM told me she didn't show any of the Fantasmic shows that were supposedly added. I didn't see any of the "additions" on-line either.
