Official Dancing With the Stars: Spring 2015

Does anyone know why they can't do lifts? Is it a ballroom rule or a show rule? Or Carrie Ann thing?

It's a ballroom rule that they can't do lifts on certain dances that don't allow them. Then Carrie Ann, who is NOT a ballroom dancer by training, at all, BTW, goes OCD ballistic whenever she catches someone she even THINKS does one. It's the ONE rule she knows, so she trots it out whenever she can go ape-sh** on someone. :sad2:

The only judge who has real professional ballroom experience & training is Len (the older judge.) That's why he likes to stay more traditional with all the dances and hates when the pro dancers (especially Derek & Mark) stray too far from the traditional dances.

I love Emma, but holy cow has she lost a ton of weight! She had her teeth done too, which is a shame to me~ no one has the unique smile they were born with anymore, they all look the exact same.

RedFoo, he didn't dance much? it was more her dance and him standing still

That's the way it usually is during the first (few) dances. The stars don't have enough training, grace or know enough steps to really dance a lot. So the pro dancers TRY to hide it by doing 5 more steps than the stars and dance around them to disguise and hide the fact that the stars are just basically standing in place.

With some pro dancers who don't choreograph as well, or with some dances, you can clearly see the pro dancers doing all the work. Then some dances, like when Chris did the jive, or with the Two-step dance, they CAN'T hide the fact that the stars don't know the steps because part of the dance is that they MIRROR each other. That's what I mean, that some dances shouldn't be FIRST dances for ANY of these stars. It's an unfair advantage in a way that Redfoo gets to stand in place while Chris really had a dance that he HAD to try to keep up with Witney.

BTW, most of us didn't know any of this when we first watched either. We just picked this up the more we watched as the season(s) progressed. You're asking and observing all the right things that those of us who've been watching longer picked up on too, or questioned each other that we noticed. :thumbsup2

ok so DH and I went for a walk, it hit 72 here today! :worship::woohoo: ( but back to normal 40's tomorrow) and I DVR'd the last 15 minutes. Based on the comments from you guys I guess Rumer got the pimp spot for good reason. Off to watch it!

I am so jealous! It went up to 52 degrees here and that is warm. :rolleyes1 Tomorrow it will be back to 38 and raining. :headache:

And yeah, Rumer's dance was better than Derek & his partner. :p Go VAL!!! :woohoo:

WOW, Rumer is the big surprize this season!
That was wonderful!!!!

(But, did anyone else notice that strange pensive look on her dad, Bruce's, face at the end of their dance?)

I have always been a Derek fan.
And, no doubt that he is a freaking prodigal genius.
But, OMG... He just pushed and pushed his partner, and she was just like trying to keep up with him the whole time.
NOT supposed to be that way.
The Pro is supposed to work with their partner, to the best of their partner's ability, to help them be their best, and let them 'shine' as much as possible.
As gifted and wonderful as Derek is, and as a FIVE time winner, I thought he usually at least tried to have a realistic and more humble attitude.
Until tonight!!!
The ego and narcissism might just be catching up with him and taking it's toll.
Really was a huge turn-off for me.

Gotta LOVE Patti LaBelle!!!

And, I thought good old Chris Soules actually did better than I expected.
He is not known, or expected, to be a dancer/performer.
But, in his BLOG, Chris Harrison had said that thought Chris was doing well, and "wouldn't suck after all" Hahahaha!!!

Going to be a good season.

My thoughts exactly....
What producer thinks it is a good idea to give ANYONE a Jive on night one.
Especially a total non-dancer like Chris.
I couldn't even believe that.
And, I thought that given the circumstances, Chris really rose to the occasion!

And, OMG, Witney is just TOO damn cute!

Can we start a petition for Tony to have a decent partner for one season????

He did get one. It was during the All-Star season. He got Melissa, the winner/then reject from The Bachelor. AND Tony & Melissa WON! He's PROVEN he can dance, choreograph and TEACH - as Maks, Val, Derek & Mark have all said he has taught EACH of them in their younger years. :woohoo:

Very true! I just want him to have another chance at the mirror ball.

Seems like the judges were hard on Suzane and Tony.

I thought they were being nice! She was terrible

I agree about the Jive not being a first week dance.

I voted for Michael and Rumer. Maybe this will be Val's year.

I don't know very many of the "stars" this season so it will be interesting to see who goes home first.
