Official Dancing With the Stars: Fall 2015

That was drama. Carlos was losing his stuff up there.

He was probably more upset at the thought that Alexa may be the one to go home. :(

A group of us were with an acting couple once, where we were meeting to go out to eat after they had (separate) auditions that afternoon. We met at in the hallway of the casting office. The husband had gone first. He had been in with the casting director for a really long time. (Whereas most people were in & out right away, after they performed their piece.) So, even though he hadn't said much when he came back out, we knew he did a really great job at his audition. Plus, he already knew the casting director, had been cast by her before a few times, so they may have had other stuff to chat about.

It was finally her turn in the room with the casting director. We were sitting in the hallway, laughing and joking about stuff, waiting for her. The mood was really light. Then the husband suddenly looks down, shakes his head in frustration and says how he hopes, hopes, hopes, that she does a great job. Otherwise, even though HE did so well and is so happy about his audition, it will be an emotional nightmare later if she doesn't do well. He will have to emotionally take care of her and hear about it all night when they get home. How she should have done this differently, done that differently, or be re-thinking what the casting director said to her and what that meant.   They end up not really celebrating his win. :headache:

We realized that sometimes it is really rough being part of a double show biz couple. The person whose career may be doing well doesn't get to celebrate when the partner gets sucky news that day. And it's not like the one whose career is doing well is always going to be riding high, so they need to celebrate each win as they happen. :(

And that's not the only time I've witnessed stories like that. :sad2:

Oh, I think they both provided enough drama. :rolleyes1

Remember: only ONE couple (Alexa) had the lowest score. The other couple is picked for drama & suspense (unless they state BOTH couples have the lowest scores.) :rolleyes1 This is the first time they even had a commercial break before they announced which couple went home. I know because I've been the "thread secretary" posting who goes home and they have never taken a break like that before, this season.
I guess I should have said that Iit would be dramatic, but it would all be before the big reveal. when they annouce who is going home, after all the tears and drama, it would be pretty anticlimactic.

I got to give props to Tamar, you can tell in her arriving she doesn't feel good.
Holy cow! She looked like death warmed over.

So sad to see Alexa go before Alec, especially after tonight's dances. Both of hers were brilliant, both of his were at best 'meh'. I am SHOCKED that her fan base did not save her.

I voted for the first time tonight. 6 votes to Bindi and 6 votes to Tamar for dancing even though she was obviously so sick. I'd rather not see her leave next week over the crappy dress rehearsal dance.

:scratchin I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been wasted votes though, and her fan base knew that. Like, if she had won tonight over Carlos, would she have felt so guilty for out-doing him, that she would have subconsciously self-sabotaged herself and danced like a frog next week, so they are both out of the running? :upsidedow

I just got through watching the show. I'm such an easy fan. I cried when Alexa danced, and I cried when Bindi danced. Both of them really touched me. I agree with whoever said that Alec should have been the one to go. I like him, but he's wooden compared to the others. I really enjoyed the team dances, and in order - Bindi & Alexa - loved theirs; thought Nick's & Tamars was good, but wasn't wowed by it; and Alec's and Carlos's was good, and thought their score was on target.

I was shocked that Alexa went. I think Carlos was really upset for her. I think they really care for each other, and it's been nice to see them on the show. I also have to hand it to the professionals how they really seem to care about their partners, and are protective of them. It's been awhile since I've seen the season the whole way through, and I'm enjoying it, but tonight was hard for me, lol. My favorites are:
1. Bindi
2. Nick
3. Carlos
4. Tamar
5. Alec

Several of them got my respect tonight, though, including Tamar. She didn't make it for her own performance, but I think she knew that Nick was depending on her to be there for theirs.

It amazes me each week how much they have to learn and remember, especially with the increasing pressure.

Random thoughts:
I thought Alexa's dance was breathtaking tonight and I can't believe she went home.
With those scores Alek and Tamar will have a lot of ground to make up next week.
I thought the group dances were super fun, even the weakest one had a fun energy to watch.
Definitely seemed to me that Tamar shouldn't be dancing. I assume maybe she isn't as sick as she seemed but they played up the drama? Also is it just me or did she appear to want nothing to do with Val tonight while he tried to defend her like crazy?
Nick continues to impress me, Carlos does not. I enjoy bindi but I find her a little one dimensional so sometimes her dances bore me. I thought Lindsey did a great job using choreography and other dancers to help cover Aleks weaknesses.

No, I think that she was really that sick. You could hear it in her voice all week. She was really hospitalized for pneumonia. I adidn't see any disrespect for Val. I think she was concentrating on "the show" and being "on" for the camera and for Nick and she was simply relying on Val to support her. She didn't have to play up to him and be all cutsy-partnery with him.

I thought they wanted to be in the final 3 together, so I wouldn't think that her fan base would stop voting for her because of him. I wonder if Carlos will get it together next week. I started out liking him more than Alexa but started to change my mind a few weeks ago (with the exception of last week's icon dance which I thought was terrible). I too teared up over her dance. Man, Mark looked pissed off when she was eliminated and this time I don't blame him one bit. I would have liked to have seen them in the finals ... she seemed to get his crazy choreography.

Every season there is an elimination where the worst dancer is kept over a better one (Bristol Palin for example). I think Alek was mentally prepared to go home and was surprised when he was safe. I like Alexa and Carlos as a couple. They seem to be in the marriage for the long haul which is a pleasant change.

When Alexa was dancing, I was telling DH how much this show rips off some of the routines on SYTYCD. "Addiction", much? Alexa really sold it though. Oh, and "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" was a rip off of a Professional routine done by a C&W couple at a World's competition. You'll never hear about that.

Bindi's waltz was just gorgeous. The music, the dancing, everything. Loved the Chicago routine too. It was a good night to be Bindi. I think we got to see that Alexa's a better dancer, but Bindi obviously works very hard to perform the way she does. And she's a very pretty girl, but when they get done with her she looks like a movie star! A young Catherine Zeta Jones, I think.

Alek was having a lot of fun last night, at least. After they showed all the stuff they got to do on the cruise (pretty sure that was a sort of paid advertisement), could see the reason for his good mood.
The judges were going a little overboard with the critique.

Don't drop the Witney, Carlos! That's rule no. 1! The tears were a little dramatic, Alexa's still alive today! Carlos is not a big guy, and he dances small. He's good, but needs to get bigger fast.

Tamar did not look good. Hope she makes a quick recovery. Wanted to give Val a hug.

Um, got nothing on Nick. He's cute, he's there, he's trying. Love Sharna, but I don't think he's going to win. I've been wrong before though.

I think it's very unfair that Tamar wasn't even there to perform and someone else goes!! crazy. IMO I think Tamar is unlikable as a "celebrity" I find Bindi charming! I'd like to see: Nick and Bindi in the finals.

They already had a rule in place for individual dances that they would judge the dress rehearsal, which is what they did. However, if she hadn't shown up for the duo dance, she would have gone home. I'm sad that Alexa went home after such a wonderful night but I really have to hand it to Tamar for stepping up and dancing. I agree with you about Bindi, she's my favorite! I also like Nick a lot and my #3 is Tamar.

That would still be a wasted vote if Alexa possibly would have subconsciously self-sabotaged herself. (I don't think Carlos would have had a problem beating her. :p) I'd rather have somebody else, who really has their heart in it, in the final 3rd spot and isn't possibly torn about winning. Disclaimer: This is all speculation & my opinion, of course. :upsidedow She could have surprised us all in showing what a competitor she is and won the whole thing, and left Carlos & Bindi in the dust. :p She did do an excellent job in the Chicago number. :thumbsup2

What I really, really liked about it was that both of the guys took a back seat in the dance, (other than choreographing it,) and really let the girls shine as the stars of the number. They didn't have inflated egos to try to twist the number to turn it into a 2 couple dance number. They were content to be part of the girls' backup ensemble. :thumbsup2 :worship:

So Tamar is out! She just released her statement. She has blood clots on both lungs. She went back to the hospital after the Monday performance. She's a true pro. Even though I didn't care for her attitude early on, I now have real respect for her. What a trooper.

I wonder how this will change the timing (process of eliminations) in the coming weeks?

Sorry to hear this about her. Yes I also didn't care for her attitude either but yes she must have really pushed herself to perform Monday night. I also wonder how this will change things up.

Oh wow......that is horrible. Hope she has an easy recovery. She looked terrible on Monday.
