Official Dancing With the Stars: Fall 2015

Does anyone else get the impression that they are working really hard on improving Tamar's image with the public after last week? She came across as extra gracious and sweet and I was totally on board with it until the dance off when it was less so. I actually thought her "I'm the best dancer" comment was clearly a joke and didn't bother me at all, while she has rubbed me the wrong way in her earlier videos.

I am starting to not be blown away by most performances, I want somebody to step up and be better by now!

They are trying to which makes me wonder if they are trying to get her out for some of the tour.

I think Andy forgot some of the choregraphy. :rolleyes1

I have to agree with Carrie Ann that both of them sort of sucked at Samba but Andy's energy made me smile, he got my votes!

I think I wanted Alek to go over Andy, I'm still disappointed that Andy never turned out to be the dancer I had hoped he would be, but I'm still a fan!

Alek has gone directly to the bottom of my personal leader board. I can not stand Chris Kyle and the fact that Alek choose him to be his icon makes me really not like him any more. Add the "I don't know if I'm a hero" crap to the mix and ... just blech. I liked him because he was a complete amature who was dancing well. Not because of what he did on that train. That got him into the competition, what he does once he's in it is all him. His virtual flag waving and calling on the ghost of Chris Kyle to get the "patriotic" vote completely turned me off. Ugh.

I loved Nick's dance. I was shocked that his 16-week pregnant wife wasn't a hot mess after that. Heck, I think I cried more than her and I don't have those pesky pregnancy hormones surging through my body.

Liked Bindi's dance. I think she was underscored. Whoever said upthread that the producers want Nick to be in the final 3 may be on to something. I did think that Derek was trying to game the dance off and I think that cost him because the were SO much better than Carlos and Whitney IMO.

I liked Carlos better than Alexa, but I didn't appreciate his "I'm afraid to win because I'll be sleeping on the couch" comment. I'll be glad when one of them goes.

I liked Tamar's paso, but I thought she got too caught up with her dress as a cape and it was awkward.

Tonight it was Nick in the lead, Alek as the caboose and everyone else bunched in the middle for me with a slight edge to Bindi.

I wasn't paying very much attention at the beginning, but I thought he picked Chris Kyle because they were both in the military? :confused3 I'm pretty sure Gen. Norman Schwarzkopf, who won the Persian Gulf War for us, once said one of his heroes was Winston Churchill. And I can see a younger basketball player might say one of his heroes is Magic Johnson. Wouldn't that be kind of the same? :confused3

Chris Kyle is no Winston Churchill. I'm sure the producers could have found another "icon" in the military who is less divisive for him if it was their doing. If it was indeed his, welcome to the bottom of my personal leader board. Which is really funny because I was just saying to my husband when the show started that I didn't dislike anyone.

While I understand there's controversy about Chris Kyle, I believe the reason Alek picked him, was for the work he did with veterans after he returned home. I was under the impression Alek "picked" him because CK worked with veterans suffering from PTSD, and that was something Alek related to.

I teared up when Alex said he wasn't a hero on the train he just didn't want to die there.

Why should the producers have any say in who he picks as his hero? I think more people will like his choice than dislike it.

I was underwhelmed by the dance offs. I think the show sets people up for failure by making them learn so many dances. I also want to go back to the days when they danced without gimmicks. extra dancers and smoke. I don't need to know who is the most important person in a dancer's life or who they admire. I know the winner is based partially on likeability but it has moved too much to that side now.

I didn't get the dance off at all. The public voted and so did the judges. How did they decide who to give points to? It seemed like if the judges were unanimous, that person got the votes but if they were divided, the public vote decided it. If that's how it was decided, that's dumb. I really just couldn't figure out how they determined who to give points to. It does continue to make me believe that they keep doing things to try and make sure that certain people get to stick around and others are made sure to be at the bottom to make it easier to get rid of them.

I loved just about all of the dances today and liked hearing who each of them chose as their icon and why. Bindi is still my favorite with Alek coming in second. Nick is probably third but I also really like Alexa and Carlos so don't want any of them to go just yet. Tamar is my least favorite of the remaining contestants and I would have liked to have seen her go home before Andy. I wonder how Andy would have done had he not had the weakest partner as far as ballroom is concerned.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed :).

Maybe an atheist would find the David and Goliath choice "offensive", but can't we move beyond that and just let the "stars" be honest with their hero choices?

I miss the day when there were two dance styles per night, with X number of couples doing each, and you could really compare who had better skills.

I also think that once a professional becomes a star in their own right (Derek cough cough Derek), it's time to retire them. There are some WONDERFUL dancers in the ensemble who really deserve a chance to shine.

Terri

The problem with someone like Derek leaving the show....there goes the viewers....there are some who watch just for some of the pros.
