Official Dancing With the Stars (cast revealed)

What drew me to this show in the beginnig was the ballroom and latin dancing, where your partner danced with you and you complimented each other. Call me old fashioned but I like that kind of dancing, where you moved with your partner.

It is only my opinion but with the exception of the lifts, most of the freestyle dancing tonight could have been done without a partner and not looked much different. I almost wish they would redefine "freestyle" to limit lifts and tricks to insure there is still some dancing.

Just got in my votes for Gilles!

I had to laugh - as soon as I saw the slashed shirt he was wearing, I thought "They're going to do something from Flashdance." I actually preferred his freestyle over the other 2. I thought his had more dancing and less lifts and tricks that Shawn and Melissa's dances, but maybe I need to go back and look at it again.

What a great Morticia!!

Nathan Lane was another "overnight success" that took 20 years because he was on Broadway and on a lark auditioned for a voice character in "The Lion King"
OT: I bought my tickets today. We're going to see Addams Family on the day after Thanksgiving in Chicago. I'll have a nice Turkey Day with my family on the South Side and then the 3 of us will go see Addams Family at the 2:00 pm matinee on Friday followed by a stroll past the Marshall Fields ... I mean *blech* Macy store holiday windows and then dinner. My DD is very excited! We got first row balony (not Loge, but 5 rows from the edge of the balcony).

Now back to the show ... I watched the show time-shifted so I couldn't vote by phone. I was very disappointed with Melissa's free style. I agree with Carrie Ann and Bruno that it was very disjointed. The dance has to have lifts and tricks but it also has to have an underlying theme and Melissa's dance didn't have one. Gilles' dance had a theme, but I wasn't that wild about it. Somehow Cheryl missed the mark in bringing out his personality. I was expecting raw sexuality and all I got was a torn shirt. Heck, TONY looked hotter :sad2:. Gilles seemed very subdued. I wonder if his injury was the problem. Which brings me to Shawn. I was wondering ... what the heck is up with the black costumes and the masks? I hate clowns and I was afraid of another Marie Osmond moment. Not to worry ... Shawn pulled off the costume and then she shed it to reveal a spunky Mork and Mindy kind of thing. I loved her dance! It was energetic and fun and athletic and there was actual dancing in between the jumps and the lifts and the tricks.

My votes online go for Shawn.

I split my votes bewteen Shawn and Melissa. Sorry Giles you are a nice guy just can't stand Cheryl

Just a few thoughts...I agree with everyone about the freestyles. Mark and Shaun creeped me out at the beginning with those masks, but once they took them off I enjoyed it. Melissa's was bad because of the choreography, not because of her dancing.

I like Gilles, but Cheryl must have the hots for him because in almost every dance she is all over him! I wonder what his wife thinks about that! Even when they are waiting for scores she jumps all over him and her hands are always on him. Has anyone ever seen Gilles in anything other than the Sex and the City movie?? Is that his only screen role?

Bruno with his completely hairless body in his speedo I could have done without! :scared1:

I think that's really just Cheryl.
As for Gilles, he's only had small roles. Mainly as extras or walk on roles. See here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1694302

I thought last night was pretty underwhelming. The Paso routine was just okay, but I really didn't care for the song choice. Didn't hate the song, just thought it was the wrong choice for the Paso. The freestyles were kind of a bust, too. I've been a huge Melissa and Gilles fan the whole season. I really expected more from their freestyles. I really liked Shawn and Mark's, although the masks were really creepy!! I still think the best freestyle in any season was Drew and Cheryl's -- that was awesome. I was just expecting Gilles or Melissa to be on that level, and they weren't. Sad!

BTW, I just read that she will play Morticia in the upcoming Addams Family musical with Nathan Lane as Gomez. That sounds like a hoot!

That does sound like it will be hilarious!

I thought Shawn did the best last night.

I was worried that Tony's choreography would be too boring and it was! The routine screamed of just trying too hard to be funky and cool and just came off kinda dorky.

Gilles freestyle was disappointing, too. Usually Cheryl knows how to showcase her partner, but that dance and music would have worked better for a female celebrity. I think it would have been great if Tony and Melissa did that routine.

Overall, I wasn't impressed with Melissa last night. Maybe it was nerves, but she looked unsteady even in the Paso. She also isn't really any better than when we saw her on the 1st episode. I think everyone needs to watch out for Shawn because it seems like she has a large fan base and may get the 'all-American" votes from Ty and Chelsie fans.

I didn't like any of the free style, not even Shawn's. To me Shawn's looked my like a circus routine with all the flips and stuff. For the end of the season it was pretty disappointing no one put out anything better. The professional dancers should have picked something to show their partners strengths.

Yep. Bruno even said that he never thought he'd see the Running Man again, but they pulled it out. Tony said that the last time he was in the finals, he played it safe. I think he still played it safe. While there were a lot of lifts, there was no real meat to the "dance".

Melissa did make an obvious stumble in the Paso. But yet she got two 10's.

Both Melissa and Gilles have slightly improved during the show, but Shawn has improved the most.
If I were voting, I would be voting for Shawn.

I agree and especially since she was asked if she was going to do any gymnastics and she said not really - she was going to show off her dancing -- I thought the dance was one long string of gymnastics.

For Melissa they should have highlighted her "ballet" strengths in my opinion - something where she was twirling and legs were stretched out etc.

I like Gilles ok but it was so toned down compared to many of their dances.

I agree- the freestyles were all disappointing to me. Cheryl should have choreographed Gilles to that, "I'm too sexy for my shirt..." song by Right Said Fred. Would that have fit him, or WHAT? :lmao::lovestruc I swear, in the previews when they said something like, "Everyone knows this song" i thought that would be it!

Even I saw the stumble Melissa did in the Paso- I thought she got all 9s for that routine.

Shawn is a good dancer, but to me part of the 'thrill' of watching DWTS, is seeing the emotion, and like Carrie Ann says, "The connection" to the dance. Shawn doesn't have that the majority of the time, so I don't really 'feel' it.

I threw all my votes to Gilles, cause although his freestyle was disappointing, overall I feel he was the best of the season. That salsa last week has to be one of my Top 3 favorite DWTS performances of all time.

I totally forgot this was on last night ... I caught Gilles and Cheryl's last dance.

Gilles get all my votes. I would not be unhappy if Shawn won, but don't like Melissa.

I also was very disappointed with the freestyles last night. But the worst part is, most of the blame should go on the pros. They choreographed it. And now the celebs have to suffer. Gilles has been my favorite all season and I'd like to see him win, even though he wasn't as good last night. But I don't think it was his fault. He didn't make a major error, like Melissa, his dance just wasn't up to par with what a freestyle dance should be. I'm also not a huge fan of Cheryl so if he doesn't win, I'd at least be happy that she didn't win. I think it might be a toos up between Gilles and Shawn at this point. I'm sure the scores for tonight's dance will all be close and won't affect the outcome.

This is the first season that I have watched it so I have nothing to compare last night's freestyle to but I don't understand why there had to be SOO many tricks...it didn't seem like any of them were showing off their dancing ability.

The music for the group dance was really overpowering to me, I couldn't focus on the dancers because of the music. But maybe it is just me because I really don't like that song anyway.

But all in all I think that Gilles is my pick! He has been consistently good and I wish that I had remembered to vote last night (I had TiVo'ed it so by the time I watched the show it was after the 1/2 hour mark).

Oh my! Did Edyta just say "Don't take my work away!" when Lawrence said he was teaching LAP DANCES at the 19th hole? I think there was something lost in translation.

And then what did he say about her husband just after that?
