I honestly thought Shawn was the least deserving to win of all of them. Her dances were all so uninteresting to me. Even Little Kim deserved to be there more than her. I think Gilles just started his real career though, and will be getting more acting roles because of his doing this show.

As to the PP who said Shawn gets over $300,000 for doing the show, is that the same for everyone? I had no idea they would pay that much. I wonder what the pros make?

I don't think Shawn should have won. It should have been Gilles. I was hoping Melissa would get 2nd.

I didn't realize they got paid so much either! Actually, I never really even thought about it. I assumed that they had to get compensation but I didn't realize that it depended on how long you stay in the show, so there really is more incentive then just the "Mirror Ball Trophy"!!!

Ooh - called it! Yes, that's me tooting my own horn. Though, I didn't think Cheryl did a good job with freestyle this year.

I thought Melissa's routines were quite boring last night. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was high quality and very classy - but boring. I don't blame that on Melissa, though. Tony needs to step up his choreography if they make it to next week because Cheryl is the queen of freestyle! But I'm thinking this is going to mimic his season with Stacy Kiebler.

I think everyone needs to watch out for Shawn because it seems like she has a large fan base and may get the 'all-American" votes from Ty and Chelsie fans.

I'm happy for Shawn, but a little disappointed that Gilles didn't win because I thought he was the best overall this season. I'm really impressed with Shawn because I believe she couldn't practice as many hours as the others due to labor laws.

Another gym mom here and glad that Shawn won, dd will be too (when she finds out!) I was ok with any of the 3 winning though.

As for the mask thing in Shawn's freestyle, I think that is a take on the dance group that was on American's Best Dance Crew, the show that was on MTv, I might have the title wrong, but it is something like that. I think it was the 1st season when the Jabbawakkies (again another sp? error I am sure - on my part) were on it and they wore clothes like Shawn did and the masks. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw them.

It was very much a nod to the Jabbawockeez crew. Carrie Ann even referred to Shawn as a Jabbawockeezett, in her comments. They were the crew that I liked the best during season 1 of ABDC.

I would have been happy with any of the final 3 winning. Each had their nitch in the competition. Shawn had the precission. Giles had the emotion. Melissa had the grace.

I will say, that at least Cheryl knows how to lose with class. She didn't make a face of disgust after the announcement (or at least I haven't seen one aired), unlike another female dancer did, when she thought they had it in the bag.

I was hoping Gilles would win - he had the best season even if the freestyle was weak. I'm not unhappy that Shawn won, but thought she should be 2nd.

I know, I know, they will revoke my lifetime Iowan card for going against the Iowa girl. She had the top headline and a big picture on the front of the paper this morning. They also announced a special Shawn and Friends dance show in July at the major arena here as well. It doesn't sound like it's part of the official tour, but an extra event.

I DVR'd the show last night and just finished watching the finale. I was surprised that Shawn won....I really thought she was going to come in 3rd and it would be between Gilles and Melissa. This was the 1st season that I did not vote....I really liked all of the final 3. My thought is that the guys have it much easier than the girls.....in most dances the female has many more steps than her partner....just like Gilles last dance. He looked sexy, he acted sexy, but Cheryl was the one who did all the dancing. The majority of the DWTS winners are male though, but I think this is because the fan base is mostly female.

We screamed and jumped up and down at our house when Shawn won. We thought Gilles would win because all three judges have the hots for him.

We've been huge Shawn fans for years - ever since gymnast D found videos of her beam routines online, before her name became a household word.

Me too, Gilles was robbed as far as I am concerned.WHY do they have Olympic people on the show, anyway, they ALL have an advantage! Melissa did too, but Shawn? She already won a gold medal didn't she? Acckkkk...and she has Fat thighs too, THERE I said it!!!

You know, I would like to see a season where all the stars are really non- dancers, no gymnasts or ice skaters who have years of professional dance training. No members of singing groups who have dance training for their concerts, but folks who really have never danced before. I think it would be exciting to watch the progress made, like with Chuck and Ty who improved dramatically over the course of the show.

I am soooooo happy for Shawn!!! She worked hard and I am soo glad that she and Mark won. He is a good teacher and considering all that happened to this young girl, Giles was great and I would have been happy either way but it was so close.... too bad it could not have been a tie between them you know.

But thrilled she won!

Ummm, sorry, but I have to take HUGE issue with this. JMHO but I would much much rather my girls had someone like Shawn to look up to as a role model. She is healthy, muscular, and has a NORMAL body size. She doesn't feel the need to have a twig-thin model's body. You know, honestly, my 14 year old looked at me on Monday and made the observation that Shawn was the only woman dancing that still had her own, un-augmented breasts?!? I would much rather see the trophy go to someone who is a hard-working dedicated star athlete, a gold medal representation of our country, then to someone whose claim to fame was being dumped on a reality show designed to demean women in the first place.

I think all three finalists worked really hard and deserved to be there, and kudos to all of them for their work and dedication, but I still feel Shawn is a much better role model for all the young girls watching.

I agree. I don't know if Amanda Bynes has dance background( I know she was in Hairspray, but I don't remember if she danced alot), but I think she would be great on the show.

There was a wacko stalking her. He was arrested while trying to break into the studio and he had all sorts of terrifying items in his car, ie duct tape, rope, you get the idea. I think that is why her parents have been there every show watching like a hawk. Pretty scary stuff especially for a 17yo.

It is interesting to see how gymnasts and dancer's thighs develop. I bet it is heriditary. You can have a gym or a studio full of fit, healthy girls the same age, and some will have skinny thighs with muscle just laid on top and some will have large thighs. But it's not fat.

Again, I have to disagree. My my perhaps I am feeling contrary this morning...

Anyhow, I usually enjoy watching those with a little experience/athleticism MUCH more. I enjoy the precision, the grace, the talent. I enjoy seeing just how good they can get. My favorites over the years have been Drew Lache (all time favorite EVER), Kristi Yamaguchi, Apolo Ono, etc. It just pains me to have to watch the likes of the two Steves from this year, and the Master P's of the world. Ack. I do like to see people get "better" as the show goes on, but I like to see that they have a little ability to work with when they start out. If everyone was like Steve-O, I probably would quit watching.

Especially since there is not an ounce of fat on Shawn. It's all muscle. She can probably crack walnuts with those thighs of hers!
