Official Dancing with the Stars - All Stars

YAY!
I can reset my DVR again!

I saw Donny and Susan on either Entertainment Tonight or the Insider last night.
She was so nervous she kept her head down and would look at the camera or Donny or the host. Really weird, she's been in the spotlight since 2009 and still is a wreck.

....I noticed that too, as she sang last night....how chivalrous of Donny to hold her hand though....

My mom and I were watching the show last night, and both of us commented that Susan Boyle looked terrified. Part of me wondered if she knew the words to the song. She was squinting so much I thought that perhaps she was trying to read the words off of a teleprompter.

I was never a Donny Osmond fan in my younger days (count me in the David Cassidy fan club), but I have to say that Donny is aging nicely! He's a very nice looking man, and I won't even add in the catch phrase "for his age."

I am trying to remember if the teams have ever gotten the same music in the team dance. I would love to see what each of them would come up with for Gangnam Style. Honestly, I think that song would have been right up Dericks alley.

No, they dance to different songs.

Bristol just appeared on GMA without Mark. Interesting.

I noticed that too. I think he probably said he was done with the whole Bristol thing. He probably kind of alienated himself from the other pro dancers in really trying to get Bristol to a competitive level that she just wasn't at, and two better dancers got booted instead. Then when Bristol herself said she wanted easier choreography, I think at that point he was done. He had always pushed her to go beyond what she wanted to do. But, he didn't fight her, nor fight FOR her, when she said that.

I saw Mark and Bristol on Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy said most people aren't happy to see him, Mark said "I'm happy so see you". So maybe Mark was ready to be done trying to teach Bristol, especially since she really didn't want to even try this week to learn anything new.

Bristol has no personality at all. She talks in that monotone voice. Jimmy did ask her if she wanted to do the Bachelorette, she looked at him like he had two heads and said that just wasn't her thing.

I have never seen an interview with Bristol before last nite. She just came across to me as a real spoiled brat with a chip on her shoulder. :p

Poor woman. My take on it was she started off off-key and knew it, but couldn't seem to right herself. She had this deer in the headlights look to her as soon as she started singing.

She's used to being in front of crowds, right? So I'm thinking it had to do with her being off-key and becoming frightened by that bc she clearly didn't know what to do.

Good point. I noticed the starting note, was just one loooong chord. It didn't give her any tempo to start singing on, nor any help on giving her the second & third note, etc., to help get back ON pitch and on tempo. So it started as a trainwreck and simply went down from there. :(

Of course, it could have been the other way around. In whatever rehearsal they had with the orchestra, she always had a hard time starting the song, so the conductor made it easier for her by just giving her a single starting note. And either way, it just didn't work for her.

RE: Susan Boyle. Anxiety and stage fright don't just go away. In fact, the singer Meatloaf suffers from paralyzing anxiety during live television performances and he's been around way longer than Susan Boyle.

So does Barbra Streisand. She forgot the lyrics to one song as she was singing it onstage and has since had stage fright about it happening again. :scared: The ONLY reason she has finally been able to do live concerts again is because of those clear teleprompters that can be placed all over the stage, in case she forgets lyrics again.

I saw Donny on Broadway a couple years ago. Yes, he does seem wonderfully gracious & chivalrous.

He looks better in person. :thumbsup2

I loved BOTH David Cassidy and then Donny. . . I was going to marry both. . . (along with a few million other girls.) ;)

Finally! I think that dumbed down dance did her in. Next week should be interesting. I like the group dances.

Me too. I accidentally deleted my DVR before thinking to write down the different teams. I think Gilles picked Val. Does anyone know if Maks is on that team, too? If the men do another shirtless team dance, I think the three of them dancing together will do me in!   :faint:

I wonder what happened. Did Sarah not ask people to vote? Bristol didn't even have the lowest score. I can't imagine that people finally woke up and realized she didn't belong there!

Yes, it is Kirstie/Maks, Val/Kelly, Peta/Gilles and Emmitt/Cheryl.

I am super excited for the group dances and still dumbstruck that Bristol actually went home last night.

I wondered if the judges giving Kirstie & Maks a 2 pt lower score which put them at the bottom didn't have a backlash effect. People finally jumped forward to give them enough votes to stay on over Bristol. :thumbsup2

I won't be upset if Kirstie goes next week. She is the weakest dancer now. Unless someone falls and absolutely lays there on the floor & can't finish their dance, I can't see why she wouldn't have the lowest scores next week.

I am not really familiar with the style of dance Mark and Bristol did this week so yesterday I wondered if maybe I was being a bit harsh about how easy her dance looked. So I went to youtube to see if I could find some examples of "rock and roll" dances.

Lo and behold, what did I discover? In Bristol's first season, the dance marathon that all the couples participated in was a "rock and roll" dance marathon. So this week was not the first time she had to learn that style of dance, unlike every other celeb this week who had to learn something completely new (as far as I know). Maybe part of Mark's frustration this week stemmed from the fact that he had taught her a lot of these moves before which could have given them a very slight advantage and he was hoping that would allow them to take a few more risks?

At any rate, she is gone now, I suspect next week will be Kirstie's last and then the serious business can start!

I've never disliked Bristol, but it was long past time for her to go. Her dancing wasn't improving and she was simply not enjoyable to watch. I wish her the best. But I'm glad she's done.

There is so much talent this season, I'm still not sure who I want to win.

I agree. I am a giant Kirstie/Maks fan but I think this week should be it for her. I wouldn't be too upset if Sabrina or even Emmitt went home before her (he just hasn't wowed me this season) but that is just because Kirstie's dances and Maks' presence entertain me more. :rotfl:

I know she is a weaker dancer and really should be the one going home next.

Yes, the only one I am really upset who didn't get a fair break is Helio. We all know Drew wouldn't have made it far because of the Anna factor. :p And while I was never a Helio fan, I think he is at a comparable level to Sabrina & Emmitt. This show, in the next few weeks could have had such different outcomes had he still been in the competition.

Once Kirstie is gone and we are down to the best dancers, ANY of them could win. :dance3:

Not that it really matters, but Apollo and Julieanne did a hip hop routine for their freestyle, so he was at least a little familiar with his style, as well.

Yes, you're right. I remember that too. He's still my favorite!

people.com reporting that Anna and Jonathan are getting a divorce.. I always thought they made a nice couple and of course they danced beautifully together.

Just another reason to despise Anna.:rotfl: Jonathan seems so kind and sweet and Anna is the complete opposite. Wow, she's only 31! I'd have guessed she was pushing 40. Apparently a witchy, self-entitled attitude ages a person, lol!

I like Anna (I know I'm in the minority, but I also didn't see the season where she irritated everyone) but I LOVE Jonathan. I hate to see any couple get divorced, but maybe this means he will be able to come back to DWTS (I heard that they had some policy about not having both spouses of a marriage on the show). Anyone remember when Jonathan stepped in and helped train Steve Guttenberg when Anna was ill? LOVED IT!

Oh I have always loved Jonathan! He is a class act and is so good at highlighting his partner's strengths. When I found out he was married to Anna I was very surprised.:scared:

Love that clip too! I remember that as well, he was so helpful.:thumbsup2
