Official Code Watch for August 2007

Miss Michelle

I live in East Bridgewater, not far from you. We are going in Sept eith the 40% off..:cheer2:

I was originally planning my trip for the end of September (like last year) but decided against it since DStepD has been doing pretty bad in school. I saw that this year we aren't going back to school until the day after labor day making my end of August choice feel better. I wish I had been able to take advantage of the 40% code. I am glad so many were...now to pray I get some sort of discount ;)

These dates mess us about too, however if they are true I am trying to think positive and that people who may be booked just before Aug 26th may cancel and book during the free dining thus freeing up a load of rooms that Disney will heavily discount :scratchin

Yeah, yeah...I love that concept.

I was thinking this too. Thought there are many folks that will rearrange their dates too and move them to September. We will cancel our package for 3 rooms and wait and see if there will be AP discounts now. I would not have booked my rooms, but the CM in grand gathering convinced me to do it and wait for the promotion later. I should've gone with my gut instead. I may also used some of my DVC points and book a backup ressie too.

We finally booked our airfare last night! Jet Blue out of Logan. Yeah!!! :yay:

My frustration with Disney now is that we want to split between 2 hotels and they are trying to make us buy 2 packages. We want the meal plan and are staying for 10 nights splitting between 2 resorts. They are telling us we have to purchase 2 five days, or any combination adding up to the length of the passes we want. It's a complete rip-off. Even the AAA travel agent can't get them to change it. Oh well, we are going regardless so I should focus on the positive! Anyone else going to be at Pop Century & Animal Kingdom Aug 20th - 30?

I just made our reservation for 8/12 - 8/18 at CSR through AAA. We included the dining plan but am hoping to get that portion credited back! Come on free dining!
:yay:

Were you able to get the AAA rate? I am currently booked at POR and asked my AAA agent to see if CSR is available with the AAA rate for my dates in August.

Thanks

Yeah, it looks like you'll have to do 2 packages if you want the free dining on the second package starting Aug. 26th. That does indeed mean two sets of tickets. You could always buy a 10 day ticket with your first package, then when you move on the 26th to get the free dining, buy one day tickets to justify the package requirements and put them away for another trip in the future. Still worth it since you'll get the meals free from Aug. 26 to the 30th (4 nights worth of free dining.

Thanks N2M....I never thought of getting another package with no expiration. I'll have to look into that. It's just frustrating! But, from Disney's point of view, people will go anyway!

Thanks again!

Same here :sad2: These dates won't work for us (a week too late).

lets keep in mind that if they do offer free dining they may require us to buy length of stay tickets like they did with the UK offer;)

Or they may not like they did for the bounce back promotion. Either way, there seems to not be any real logic to predict what they plan to do next.

we are also doing a split stay. we are going the 8th to the 18th. staying a po for 5 days and poly for 5 days. we booked a 8 day ticket on the po reservation and a 1 day ticket on the poly just in case they do the free dining. but from what i'm reading on this thread it will seem that we will miss the free dining. does anyone know if those dates are for sure? or is it just a rumor at this point?? even if they are true, we are thinking about purchasing the dining plan. the lady i spoke with when we made our ressies told me its 39.00 a day for me and dh and 11.00 a day for ds. i really think it's worth it. just my opinion.

You don't need to purchase no expire option on the 2nd set of tickets. They tickets expire 14 days from 1st use so if you don't use them they won't expire.

That's exactly what they recommended to us, except the 1 day pass for 2 adults and 2 children is $250, so I'm not sure that the value of the meal plan outways that cost. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for free dining or a room code!

But you would get to keep those tickets and use them for a future trip. So it's like paying $250 toword your next trip to Disney. The downside is that when you use them you wouldn't be able to purchase a package and thus no dinning plan.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that....that's what so great about the Disboards!!

That would be an excuse to plan another trip later!

I booked AA for $178 roundtrip from STL to MCO for Aug 6 - 12, 2007 - try American Airlines

We got a great deal from American too -- 94 RT. With taxes and all, its like 350 for the three of us. The next day when I checked the site again it was up to 188 ea. YAHOO! Something in my favor. Now only if free dinng...

I'm looking to book out of Logan as well...May I ask what you got for rates? I'm looking at $99 down and $89 back. Anyone found anything less?
I've been watching Jet Blue nearly daily for at least a month now. At first it was $99 each way then dropped to $94 going then back up to $99 each then down to $89 each way yesterday. I booked at that for $197 RT for the exact times I wanted. Leave 8/20 at 10:30 am and fly home on 8/30 at 5:45 pm.

I was really hoping that my May trip would drop and I could use a credit from that trip toward the August trip but it is actually $25 higher now. I paid $267. :scared1: But I'm going alone in May and August will be our family of 5 so I'm glad to get August for under $200. I still think there is a chance of a credit in May and maybe even August but I'll just have to go again if that happens and at least for now I've got the exact flights I want.

We got $89 each way out of Logan, $197 rt/pp. Seemed too good to pass up!

Now for free dining or room codes!

:thumbsup2 I've been watching and took it as a sign to book yesterday when I saw the $89 rates.

:wizard: Good luck to you on free dining. I think I'll miss out.
