Official Code Watch for August 2007

Another one waiting for discounts! I don't think I will get in on free dining again this year. Drats! We can only travel one week in August because of kids and school commitments and last year that just happened to be the week before free dining started. The upside was that the parks weren't crowded at all, at least until the free dining people showed up and then it was a mad house.

Planning for August 3-12th again this year. Looking at POR but if not it will be POP again.

I would love free dining, but I seriously think the bounceback program will fill a lot of the spots. At this point I am not very optimistic about free dining. I got it two years in a row, so it has served me well. Since it is just my son and I, it really won't add that much to our overall expense. The cost of adding the dining for us is really the cost difference between a value and moderate resort. With just the two of us, a value resort is fine for a 5 or 6 night stay.

I'm still going to be checking these boards frequently for any signs of promotions!:thumbsup2

y'know...I think Free dining WILL be offered to the public. The bounce back program is being pushed really hard right now...but no matter what they offer "right now"...August-Sept. is STILL hurricane season and a lot of people just will NOT travel then. Disney knows that there is a whole mass of people waiting for free dining to be offered to the public, they know that it will further open the floodgates for Disney diehards who are willing to risk hurricanes and the extreme heat...I don't think the "spots" will fill up at all. They are just trying to get as many spots booked for hurricane season as they can RIGHT NOW.

no worries all...I too am waiting to see if I am right...hope so...but we're going regardless!!!:cool1:

Hey Bobcat, never say never! The dates for the Bounceback Program(free dining)are actually August 5th -Sept. 29, 2007, sooo if they do open it to the general public, most likely the dates could be the same:confused3 Maybe you will be there for it. But of course they will need to open the offer to everyone. Here's hoping:wizard:

Waiting to see what will be offered next since the Bounceback Offer is over 12/31/06.
We are going either way, with or without free dining, Aug 18-26 WL:banana:

No, You are not crazy. :-D I have been waiting since the day after I got back from Free Dining Disney in September for them to say something about free dining again. Maybe we are just hungry for those Mickey Waffles.

I think that's what I'm waiting for too! I can just taste the Mickey waffles.... If it's free dining my DH says we can go again.... Have done it the last 2 years and want to go again... It's just DH is disneyed out.... BUT we have friends that want to go again.. so maybe .. just maybe:banana:

I have booked the bounce back program as I am here now. I booked at the Beach Club cruise board an the CM that assisted me said that the program went over way bigger then they expected. They did minimum marketing of it, yet it's been a real draw. She said she had people that live within a days driving distance, drive spend one night a book the trip for August.

So If I book now with dining, and a code comes out I can just apply the code right? Or do I have to cancel then redo my ressies?

Yes, you can apply the code if there's available inventory. Booking now doesn't guarantee that you can get Free Dining if it's offered. Watch the boards very carefully over the next 3 or 4 months. If Free Dining is offered to the general public, most likely you'll hear about it here first or on Mousesavers. If a code does come out, then call WDTC right away so that you can apply the code. I have a gut feeling that if Free Dining becomes available, it may be more limited than last year since it was already offered to UK residents and through the Future Stay promo.

Hi, I am also going in August. We have a family of 7. At this point we are staying at the Dolphin with a teacher's rate. (We need 2 rooms) How would you get "free dining"?

Help me understand. If I book a reservation now for August do I also have to book the dining plan (if I want to apply the free dining code if it is offered) or can I add the dining plan later (if free dining is offered) and just book a room only reservation? :confused3

We stayed at the Dolphin with the teachers rate last August. The dining plan isn't available to guests of the Dolphin or Swan. When the promotion for free dining came out last April, we decided to do a split stay WL (to qualify for free dining for the first part of our stay) and then transfer to the Dolphin ($129/night with upgrade view.)

This year fingers crossed for the promotion for free dining to be offered to the general public. Either way we are going again in August and will stay at WL for 9 days.

Yes, you can technically book a room only reservation now if you'd like. If Free Dining is offered to the general public, you'd call WDTC to book it if there's availability. The original room only reservation would then be cancelled and they will refund whatever you paid. A new package reservation would be made and you'd pay the $200 deposit. After a few days once the refund appears on your credit card, you can always call back and have it applied to your new package reservation.

Only a month away until Disney releases the park schedules for August. I think that will be our first mile stone.:yay:

We're going Aug 5-9 with the bounceback offer. If I better discount gets offered we'd be interested.

I'm pretty sure you got the best offer you're going to get. As a matter of fact you already have the offer that most of ua are pretty much waiting for.

I have a ???
we are planning a trip for august. Can I get AAA discount on a package?
I no you can get room only discount but how about a package?

Also, I would love to have a free dining too. Because so far we are only eating at food courts. We can't afford the restaurants.

I am getting really excited. Well, my family too.

Can I book now, with AAA? I don't have it yet.

Thanks for the info...

Yes, you can book a package that would give you a discount on the room but you'd have to do that directly with AAA which will require that you obtain a membership. If Free Dining is offered to the general public for your travel dates and you have already booked your package with them, you'd want to call your TA immediately so that they can apply the code for the Free Dining.
