Oh so much to love in Once Upon A Time in the West! It was very nearly perfect. Certainly a classic lighthearted Castle episode, and I think Id put it in the Top Ten, certainly in the Top Twenty.
Loved:
The whole scene with them telling Lanie and the boys. From the looks on their faces, to Lanie asking Javi to hold this and her speech about carbs, to her hitting Rick in the chest, to the guys crossing their legs and refusing to be high five Castle, it was so funny. Martha and Alexis were funny too. And I want to hear the song the guys wrote! My only real problem with the wedding was that the guys and Lanie werent there, but since that gave us this scene, it no longer bothers me.
The scene in Gatess office. Her reminder that she didnt get invited to the toast, to blaming Rick for that, and then her Your husband may be right.
The clothes they wore at the Wild West resort. She of course looked fantastic in everything, but he looked pretty good too. A few years ago, Stana Katic was quoted as saying she wanted to do a Western theme part where she could wear a corset and she got to do it. Loved when he first saw her in her Western themed duds thats about 3 fantasies fulfilled and how his jaw dropped when she first appeared in the black outfit. (and boy did her hair look awesome then, too!) Stana had to be uncomfortable in that outfit it was about 100 degrees that day, according to Luke Reichle but she did it.
The scene under the stars when he played the harmonica, and she decides that, yes, this is our honeymoon (To us, to the journey and to what lies ahead) and then the snake shows up.
Him carrying her over the threshold
Their naked cowboy neighbor was a hoot.
The scene when Gates tells the boys off. And her solution to the no days left for Kate.
The names he gives the horses!
The scene with the Native American elder
The opening title card!
The burning map
Castle getting stuck in the saloon doors
Kate showing Rick she did indeed learn something at the hog tying class
The whole end scene. Yes, technically her outfit looked like old Western underwear, but LR made it and he called it a dress. (and you can see a bra strap in some pictures) In fact, he called it her fourth wedding outfit in tweets. And she looked so good in it!
The showdown between Rick & the bad guy. Loved that Kate saved him, too.
Other notes:
I wish there had been a Firefly reference! glad they didn't make any robot jokes.
Not too many complaints about that episode. (well, I did guess who the bad guy was pretty quickly) Classic Castle at its best. I almost wish there wasnt an episode this week, thats how much I loved this one.
