Time for my thoughts on “The Time of Our Lives”. I don’t think it’s much of a secret but I LOVED THAT EPISODE. I loved the whole danged thing. I’ve watched it a lot in the last few days – I’ve loved it every time. I really thought I wanted The Wedding to be a big part of the episode, but in the end, what they did with 5 minutes was amazing. I even loved the fake sunset! So the breakdown: Loved: The Wedding! Her outfit, the vows, the way he looked at her when she & her dad first appeared, the way she smiled at him, the exchange of “hi’ after she reached him, the hug & the kiss after they were “husband & wife”, his “Mrs. Castle, may I have this dance?”, and then him cueing up their song, then the sweet dance & her “It’s perfect”, & then the way his whole body relaxed. The fact that in the AU world, he saved her from being shot. Loved her “stay with me” after his “I love you Kate” The opening scene – Kate chopping that cantaloupe, her concern about him not sleeping, his comment about “Facebook likes”, the discussion of Sorenson, and then the discussion about how they are so “bad” for each other. Nice little discussion with Martha too. Lanie & Espo’s late arrival to the crime scene; Castle sniffing the body That AU Martha was so famous. AU Kevin the MR fan boy was priceless That even Capt. Beckett yells out “Mr. Castle!” like Capt. Gates Castle acting like a ninja sneaking back into the homicide floor All the throwbacks to old episodes – the precinct coffee, “we make a great team”, “participate and annoy”, that he met with Detective McNulty, and on and on and on His AU mug shot, and what he did in the AU world to get in trouble. And the fact that he’s horrified that he tried to sing “Let It Go” as a duet. When he asks AU Kate to go out for a drink, & how her face falls when she realizes what’s really going on. When he was telling AU Espo everything he knows about him, and passing that off as his “gift” When he comes back from the AU, and he grabs her hand, see her engagement ring and mentions “my Kate”. Lucky thing this happened this year when she’s been wearing the ring! Their conversation in the precinct when he tells her why he hasn’t been sleeping, and then the proposal Few other points: It made me sad to see his face after he asked Kate if she wanted to go to Will’s wedding – “I’m not up to seeing someone else’s perfect day.” Of course, every time they showed the elephants in the AU I wanted someone to knock them over or something! I hope that AU Kevin calls AU Jenny again I loved the fact that it was up to the viewer if he really went to an AU world or if it was just a dream. That’s what they did in the time traveler episode last year, too. I was originally sad that Lanie and the guys weren’t at the wedding, but now that means we’ll have a fun scene when they tell them (as we’ve seen in the promo and the sneak peek) Wonder if Gates is at that little gathering! And I always thought that a woman wears her wedding ring “closer to her heart”. (at least every married woman I know does this). Kate had her engagement ring on her hand during the ceremony. Maybe she switched it later. Also, Will and his bride must not know the rules of etiquette. Kate & Rick are engaged, he should have been invited to the wedding too, but just Kate’s name was on the envelope. And I’m sure Will knew they were engaged – between the announcement, and thru Rick’s disappearance and return – there is no way he didn’t know. And like I mentioned before, I really hope that was something non-alcoholic they were toasting with because Jim definitely drinks whatever’s in his glass. He’s also the one that puts the bottle in the ice bucket. I have purchased sparkling white grape juice that comes in a green bottle with foil and that looks like champagne when poured so it’s not impossible for that to be the case here. But all in all, a fantastic episode that is in my top 10 of all-time favorite Castle episodes. It was a great episode and they did a wonderful job on the wedding. Next week’s episode looks like it’s going to be fun too!
