Official Car rental September 2013...advice please

I booked a full size for 08/31-09/08 with Hertz for $161.37 through BJ's. I checked Avis and I can get a full size for about 9.00 less with Avis. Anyone have a preference of 1 company over the other? I know it's only 9 bucks, but if Avis is better I switch.

If I had to chose, Iwould chose Avis. I had a very bad experience with Hertz years ago and it left a very bad opinion. I have rented from Avis in the past and love them.

Silly question but is it normal for the Alamo website to not note your free upgrade car choice on their website but list it on the email confirmation? It says standard car in my email but midsize on my account on their website.

Won a car on bidding site. (not sure if I'm allowed to put name on here?)

September 12-22. Full Size. $166

I just read 4 threads..........Budget sucks, Enterprise Sucks, Alamo Sucks, Ez car rental sucks, Avis Sucks,Advantage sucks!
Hertz sucks!
So should I drive my own car down to Florida?

Aren't there any car rental agencies in Florida that are good to rent from?

It's really getting to be like rolling dice at a casino?

It's getting to the point just take the lowest price and hope for the best........ I mean really none of them are really any better then another when you get right down to it.

I noticed this on my reservation as well- however on the summary it showed standard on the summary on the website but also mid size in the confirmation on the website. I

That is because you are being charged for a midsize and selecting a standard. What the print out says is what you get at the price stated on the printout/confirmation email. BTW, Alamo does not have a "standard" area at MCO, so you will be selecting from the Full size row.

The majors are all fine. Advantage is no longer at the airport, so, I don't consider that to be a major. EZ does suck. L&M sucks.
What you read is proof positive that you cannot please everyone all the time.

If your read enough threads on these boards you can make this argument for anything and everything with regards to WDW. Restaurants, resorts, attractions, service, etc...

All majors are pretty much the same. I personally like Alamo because of check in kiosk and prices are in the ball park of all the others. Take a town-car service or limo service if you're that concerned?

Right now I have an 8 day Minivan Rental for $265 through EZ rental and I was just about ready to switch over to Budget for Prepaid $255 until I read these reviews about Budget. It's its not like the bad reviews just happened in a 3 or 6 month time span.......reviews have been bad there for 3 years? How do the owners of these agencies allow this to continue without correcting the problems?

So really am I gaining anything by switching, just sounds like more potential disappointments.

Dates are 9/27 3pm to 10/5 3pm Mini Van

Have EZ rental for $265

Budget Rental is using costco codes and it came out to be $255 Instant Payment, Haven't booked it yet because of reviews.

I have nothing booked with Dollar rental, My Father-in law does though, his dates are(10 days) 9/11 to 9/21. Using code Promo code 5c11m..He got a standard car size for $192.82

Have you read the reviews for EZ or their rental policies? I would not touch them with a ten foot pole. Budget is part of Avis, and they do monitor those web sites. I would continue to keep checking as your trip is not all that close and the rates tend to drop the closer you get.

Yes EZ rental sucks too! Yes we still have a ways to go I don't want to get locked into any of those pre pay ones just yet, I will keep looking.

I was torn with Alamo for Standard $171 and EZ for $155, then last night on the website with no credit card/debit payment recorded I got a mid size for 8.2 days for $123. I used the like on the Facebook page to get the additional .05% off.

That is a $50 saving for convienance. I did want to go ME only and buses, but there are a few off site things to do. I have driven the airport several times before ME, so trying not to worry over the Hwy.

Costcotravel.com has a intermediate (dodge avenger) for 112.00 for 9/14-9/21 thru budget or a full size for 125.00

Using Avis Florida special (35% off) combined with Avis coupon for $30 off of weekly rental (MUWA025) I was able to get full-size for $137 total for SEP 7-12. Both code and coupon are available on Avis website.

I already have Dollar for $133 with full-size (Altima type) vs Avis full-size which appears to be larger (Impala type). Still want a better price...

I won a Priceline bid for $25 per day on a minivan (plus $2 bonus money). Dates are Sept 20-30. Total cost is $344 after taxes and fees. It will be at Budget.

My goal was just to get it under $350, so now I'm done with checking it all the time to see if the rates go down. Maybe I could have gotten it lower if I kept trying, but this was good enough for me. The next lowest I'd found was $402 with the KLM/entertainment codes at National, and after that they were all $500+ even with codes.

oooh! I just checked for my dates 9/14-9/22 and just adding the 22nd jumps it up to $158.70 for an intermediate for 12N-5pm through Budget. Still better than the $174.00 I currently have with Alamo though. Thanks! We booked Budget through the Costco site for our trip this past May and was pleased with them.

What company did you get? You were not clear in your post. You can rent just about anywhere without credit card or debit card info, but, when you get there, that is when they put holds on the accounts. Much depends on the policies of the rental car companies.
