Pat doesn't make the cakes, she just takes the orders. The cakes are made by the bakery staff, NOT chefs, by any stretch of the imagination either.
The cakes are made and then frozen solid. They are then cut and filled and crumb coated and put in the cooler. The following day they are either decorated with buttercream or fondant depending on the order. Cakes are usually completed 1-3 days in advance.
My point was that I had ordered a cake from Pat that was very different than what I recieved. My DH is allergic to milk chocolate so I ordered a white chocolate ganache cake with red "sparkled" roses. It came with milk chocolate. I'm aware of how they make the cakes and the time frame. That's no excuse for a slimey white choco slipper or one pitiful collapsed white rose made of frosting. And absolutely no excuse to put milk chocolate in the ganache. After speaking with her, she refuses to do anything about it and charging me $95 for a cake that went in the trash because they couldn't follow an order form just ticks me off to no end. Yes, I hold Pat 100% responsible for this.
