i must admit that even if the cake tasted heavenly and the presentation was gorgeous if it wasn't what i had ordered, I would definitely complain. Disney charges an arm and a leg for these cakes, so I expect that I would get what I ordered. If not I would expect some sort of credit on my bill. My local grocery store bakery charges a lot less that disney and they have never givein me exactly what I ordered in a cake in the 28 years I have been doing business with them and some of my orders have been very complicated.

My soon-to-be 4 year old DS has requested a cookie cake for his birthday. We will be eating at Chef Mickey's. Anyone know if they can do this? It's kind of boring, but it's what he wants.

I just went through many of these pages looking for the animal kingdom dessert plate, the one with the chocolate elephants and the chocolate sign, and I can't find it. Anyone know which post it is, or can you attach the link to it, please? TIA

You know, you're right. Cutting into a cake when you have finished your meal, discovering no strawberries in the custard and demanding another cake, not gonna happen. This will be the only cake we ever get at Disney and I am not one to make a scene. My daughter was happy, it was her birthday cake. The night was fantastic and I didn't feel like destroying the evening by making a scene over not having strawberries.

A poster on the cake thread photo gallery (which has been closed?!?) had pictures of a great mini-wedding cake made at the Boardwalk Bakery. ("Oh Mom", if you are reading this, maybe you can help me out.) It looks like exactly the right size and price for my DD when we celebrate her 4th birthday in June. We will be dining at 1900 Park Fare. Can they do the same thing there or can I have it sent from the Boardwalk Bakery? Also, am I better off calling the hotline if I want something specific, or the actual restaurant? And lastly, if I bring my own topper will they just set it on there free of charge? Thanks.

The Grand Floridian can make those mini cakes too. Call Private Dining at the resort to speak to the woman who coordinates cakes: 407-824-2474. They will just leave a blank spot and you can set it on when the cake gets there.

Also, we've got breakfast adr's for GF - Poly - CR, which one do you think is best to order a cake at??

Grand Floridian and Contemporary resort are better bets for a fancy-looking cake than the Poly. :thumbsup2

We will be at WDW next week and I want to purchase a Mickey Head cake.
We will celebrate an anniversary and a birthday.
Can I purchase a cake at Main Street Bakery and/or
Boardwalk Bakery.
Is there one size and how many would it serve ?
Does anyone know the price ?

The only cakes for sale at Main Street Bakery are the pre-made 6-inch celebration cakes like the ones you can order at the podium or any restaurant. The BoardWalk Bakery can make you a Mickey head cake, but you would need to order it in advance if you want the big one that serves 8-14. It costs $48 + tax. They sometimes have personal-size Mickey head cakes for sale with all their other treats too.

I have never seen anyone post about getting a cookie cake, but that doesn't mean they can't do them! I'd call Private Dining at the Contemporary Resort and ask if they can make one.

Alternatively, this company delivers cookie cakes - you could probably get one delivered to your hotel room: http://www.cookiesbydesign.com/category.aspx?categoryid=59

I can't find the post either but I had posted about it. :) It was ordered through AKL private dining, was delivered to the room (gratuity was already added) and was around $50.

 I understand this attitude, Cindironi. My DS' birthday cake at Disneyland in 2008 was not at all what I ordered - it too was missing the strawberries in the strawberries and custard filling and it was supposed to be Mickey themed for a kid with a very traditional male name but came out with ribbons (real ribbon, not edible) and butterflies as the primary decoration and his name in dark pink. :confused3 But the thing is, he was just excited that he got this cake - delivered by Goofy - and didn't notice or care. Under other circumstances, I might have complained but, no, that night there was no way I could bring that negative energy into my DS' celebration. Now, it's an inside family joke that we've enjoyed giggling over.

Does anyone know if you can order a sugar free cake or something like low sugar or made with splenda (or something similar). The person I'm ordering it for is a diabetic so as awesome as some of the cakes are, I'd really like to NOT put him in a diabetic coma!:scared1:

Thank you for the information! :thumbsup2

This is no longer available through the inroom dining at AKL, i tried to book it last week,, closest they have is 3x zebra domes on a plate, lol

Sorry if my questions are repeated or anything, but I'm new to the whole cake thing at WDW! :goodvibes We will be having a late-ish dinner (9pm) at Chef Mickey's on the night of our arrival. Can I order a special cake to have there? I see that these beautiful custom cakes are made at the GF and the Boardwalk, what about CR? I won't do it if it entails the $75 delivery fee, no way. What are my options for a cake to be enjoyed that first night at Chef Mickey's?

This is the cake I got for my daughters 16th Birthday Party @ 1900 Park Fare on Wednesday. It was vanilla with buttercream icing and fondant. The inside had custard and no strawberries. I ordered strawberries, but it was good anyway. She loved it, so I was happy.

The cake was actually really good. It had a very good flavor and the custard was very tasty as well. We were a party of eight and everyone thought it was very good. My niece got married back in May and commented how much better this cake was than her wedding cake and her wedding cake was very very expensive from a caterer in Knoxville, TN. The cakes are very expensive at Disney; however, the look on your child's face when the server brings it out is priceless.

This cake is adorable! Sorry there where no strawberry's but I agree there is nothing like the look on your childs face! Yours looks thrilled!
Seeing your DD made me even more excited for my DD cakes!

Are you serious? Wow, we got this in March '09 so it wasn't that long ago. You can get four zebra domes down in the Mara and not have to pay gratuity. :)

Diabetics watch carbs, so the flour in a cake is just as bad, or worse than the sugar.

But, not sure what all they have or what they deliver. I would call and ask. They might have something that works better.

Can anyone tell me if you can request a sugar free cake or a low sugar cake? Even a cake made with something like Splenda would be great. I'm ordering it for my Dad's birthday and he's a diabetic so I really don't want to put him in a diabetic coma!

Also, can anyone tell me what places I can pick up a cake and take it back to my room? They're staying at Pop and I know no one delivers there. I am aware that you can buy cakes there and that's an option but you know, I might want to get crazy with it! It is Disney after all!

Oh and are there any types of cakes I shouldn't order if we won't have a fridge in the room? I'm not sure if there will be leftovers but you know, I don't want there to be and the cake goes bad!

The sugar flowers are ordered and come in from China. They are not made at the GF.

Can one of the folks who works in the kitchens at WDW tell us if this is true. I can believe they are not made at the GF but c'mon.......

I had originally called PD at the CR a month ago, and was given Jessi's email addy. Emailed her, and waited..waited..and waited some more but never heard back. I even verified her address, so I waited some more and figured I'd start calling around now if I hadn't heard back since our cake is for (early) December.

Well, I received a call from Marie on Thursday asking if I had emailed because she was missing a lot of information on my form. I told her yes I had, and even read the address back to her. Apparently, they had a lot of technical difficulties when they were switching email addresses around that time, so mine was lost.

She gave me the new email address, and I emailed that same day. I heard back from Brian, and we're going with a Mickey's Christmas Carol theme. The picture that he comes up with will be on a standing piece of white chocolate. Everything is still in the works, but I wanted to brag about how great all of these CMs have been!!!

I'm waiting to hear back from him to finalize everything. I've asked what other decor ideas he has for around the stand-up, and cake types. I'm super excited about this!! :yay::yay:

I am trying to make my way through this tread but in mean time does anyone have any pictures of a Toy Story themed cake? We are going in December and I would love to order a TS cake but am looking for ideas as well. Thanks :santa:

When I posted about everyone being so accepting of incorrect orders, I certainly wasn't implying in any way that anyone should "make a scene". I was simply curious why so many people comment on these expensive cakes not being right but it being fine. We didn't "make a scene" over our cake being inedible, but we certainly did make Disney aware of our dissatisfaction. I personally think it's disgraceful to charge what they do and have it taste terrible (or have incorrect fillings, or cracked fondant, or what-have-you).
