OMG, that is an AWESOME CAKE!!!!!!!

..what are the chances they would serve something similar to that at Artist Point?!! lol

We just returned from WDW and I thought I'd post a quick photo and review of the birthday cake my dh ordered for me from the GF.

eeyorecake.jpg

I'd wanted an Eeyore cake, but dh was told that because Disney doesn't own the rights to the Pooh characters, it wasn't possible. So he asked them to make a cake with an empty spot on top and then brought a figurine we bought on our first family trip 11 years ago.

The cake was $90 plus tax and tip. It was marble batter with buttercream frosting. Although the cake itself was adorable, it was definitely the WORST cake we've ever tried to eat! It was spongy and almost tasteless. We had family over to our villa for dinner and cake, and none of us could stomach more than a couple of bites. It was SO disappointing, especially for the price.

That is so cool!!! Isn't Brian the best???:thumbsup2

Brian's cakes are amazing looking! We are so excited, we are surprising my dd on her 9th birthday in 3 1/2 weeks at Chef Mickey's and Brian is making her cake. It's going to be Halloween themed, I cannot WAIT. I will post pics when we get back!

Hi Camlace!

Wow, that Ariel cake looks fabulous! Were the starfish and seahorse details edible?

webejoys

there were "edible" meaning...not plastic or other man-made material. But I believe they were made out of gumpaste which doesn't taste terribly good...but my daughter devoured them :upsidedow

Camlace, I was quoted $65 for that cake, Did you use TIW card?

I just checked my receipts. The cake I got at GF did include the TIW discount. The cake at CRT did NOT include the TIW discount. The difference...from what I can see is that the GF listed the cake under my seat number (SEAT NUMBER 1: Pasta $xx.xx; Wine $xx.xx; Coffee $xx.xx; 1/4 Sheet Cake $xx.xx)....so as if it were dessert.

CRT did not list it under a "seat number" just as a line item on the check...I presume this is why the TIW discount didn't pick up...since it wasn't listed as a "Food" or "Beverage".

I'm wanting to have a cake delivered or presented to either Ohana's or the luau at Polynesian.. Would love to see some pictures of cakes anyone has gotten there and their opinions as far as taste and presentation...:rolleyes1

I'm at work, so I don't have the pic with me, but we ordered at cake through private dining for my daughter's birthday in May. We got a vanilla cake with custard and strawberries. It was okay. Unfortunately, there aren't alot of choices for the smaller cakes so we ended up buying a much bigger cake than we needed.

There is an awesome cake thread somewhere here on the boards... hopefully someone can find the link for you!!

Not sure what happened...I thought it was an individual post I was replying too!!! This IS the awesome cake thread LOL :upsidedow

We are back from our trip and I finally have time to share pics of the wonderful cake that cakemanbri did for us :)

Purchased at CM's
9/6/09
8 inch chocolate with buttercream icing and (chocolate filling??)asked for vanilla but that's OK :) covered in fondant
Disney's Dinosaur carnatoraus (bad guy) as main character with Jungle Theme
$100

It tasted delicious. We had 8 people there and we only touched about 1/2 of the cake and took the rest back to our room and put in the fridge.

The kiddos went crazy for the "rocks". They were decorated jellybeans :) Everything except the palm trees and the wires that held the flowers in place could be eaten.

Cute cake! My boys would have loved that when they were younger. BTW, I see you homeschool. What do you use for your kids?

For a November 10th trip when should I get ahold of special ressies at GF for a 6 inch (or 8) special request cake? Would 2 weeks be an appropriate time frame?
Thanks so much!
Liz 46 days to CSR!!!! And 46 days to becoming another year older :scared1:.....hmmmm not to sure about that one!!!:rolleyes1

Hi my family will be visiting the World from 12/25/09-1/1/10. :woohoo:

DS turns 4 on 1/5 and we would like to surprise him with a cake during one of our TS meals. I do have access to a car (my sister's family will be drivig down), so even a non-Disney bakery would be ok. I don't want something generic that the restaurant has just thawed out for our "party" if you KWIM.

Our ADR's are as follows (so any advice based on these would be great):

12/26 - Ohana (dinner)
12/27 - Tusker House (lunch)
12/28 - Garden Grill (dinner)
12/29 - LeCellier (lunch)
12/30 - Crystal Palace (dinner)
12/31 - 50's Prime Time (dinner)
1/1 - Chef Mickey's (brunch)

I'd prefer not to do the cake for Chef Mickey's b/c my mom and her friend will not be able to join us due to flight times.

Thanks in advance for any input!

This may seem like an odd question but I want to be prepared. I ordered a two tier cake for a Wishes Cruise on 9/17. They are delivering it to the boat. Will they bring a box (or boxes) so that we can take the rest with us? Will they bring utensils and plates, etc. too? I know it sounds silly but I have this fear that we'll be standing there looking at each other with no knife, no napkins, etc. and no box to bring the rest back to the resort!

Thanks in advance.
Curious about this as well. I have a surprise wishes cruise booked for mine and my hubby's anniversary and would love to order a cake for us to enjoy on the boat. :lovestruc

(we're homeschoolers too!! :goodvibes )

THIS CAKE ROCKS! I'm so so so excited that Brian is making our cake in just 3 weeks! I'm a little shocked at how large the 8 inch looks though, we ordered a 10 inch!!! At least there are 8 of us and we are staying offsite in a house, so we can eat it all week! I don't normally eat cake, so we'll see how good my willpower is when faced with one of these creations!

I ordered the 8 inch because there were 8 of us and they said it would feed 6-8. Didn't realize it was this huge. We took half of it back to the room with us and it lasted quite a while. I can't wait to see your creation :goodvibes
