When I made my ADR for our trip on July 12th, I made a ressie at Tutto for our anniversary dinner. I was told that we could have a cake for desert (in place of our usual options) and have it included with our meal on the dining plan. Anyone else out there done this?

Okay, so I went through 40 pages... LOL And I'm a bit impatient

When my DD turned 6 we were at AKL conceirge and when we arrived there was an amazing cake in the room. Chocolate cake, choc icing.. very yummy.

Was this the typical 'celebration cake'?

We'll be there next week, and Sunday will be our dinner to celebrate Father's Day and MY Birthday. I'd love to order a special cake for us all.

I LOVE Chocolate and DH loves peanut butter... any recommendations?

We're arriving at the Poly for our vacation on Sept. 9th. We're having dinner at CM that night and I want to order a cake for my son's 4th B-day to be delivered to CM. I've heard wonderful things about the Boardwalk Bakery. I called them today and asked if they could deliver a cake to CM and they said no, but that I could call the CR and ask for "room service" and place my order through them for a cake to be delivered to CM. Should I order a cake at Boardwalk Bakery and just pick it up or just order one through CR? I need some opinions on the cakes from both of these places.

BoardWalk Bakery will be better able to make you a fancy or unusual cake. The CR bakery is probably just going to give you the standard choices of choc/choc or vanilla/vanilla. If you have your heart set on a really fancy cake from the Grand Floridian, you may be able to get them to deliver to your room at the Contemporary, but there will be a hefty delivery fee ($75+).

The cakes in the Pop food court...are they slices, or a small/medium cake? If a small/medium cake, what size about? Just curious. We'll be there next month for my dad's birthday. Thanks!

Curious about the cakes at Pop as well. We are going to be there for my Daughters sweet 16 in November.

They are 6-inch cakes that look a lot like the Sara Lee podium cakes. Here's a picture of the Pop food court cakes that I took in May:

Traditionally the Mad Hatter cake is three tiers, but I'm thinking you want to go with the 1-tier version someone posted earlier in this thread? You can have them make it in any color combo and with a variety of decorations - this is just one example:

Thanks, the Mickey Head cake was really delicious. I called the regular cake hotline and followed the prompts for AKL and at that point I was transferred to someone in Private Dining. Explained I needed it for Jiko, wanted white icing and cake, and they took care of the rest. Quick, painless and sooo yummy!!

There is some kind of misconception out there that only Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach and the Grand are the only places you can get unique cakes. This is just untrue. The Contemporary Resort can also do these cakes as well. All you have to do is tell the person taking the order via the cake hotline what exactly you are looking for. I know for a fact that this team is as capable as the above mentioned. Hope this helps.

Then how come when people call up for a cake at Chef Mickey's, Ohana, etc. they are only offered a choice of chocolate cake/chocolate buttercream or vanilla cake/vanilla buttercream with simple buttercream frosting and *maybe* a screenprinted decoration on top?

Because those are the standard options. Ordering a custom cake is always extra. The order takers only offer what is on the actual order form. The guest is the one that has to ask for the extras.

Has anyone gotten the Zebra cake at AKL recently? Do you have any pictures and what is the price now?

I called AKL about the zebra cake yesterday, was told it is $40. Leticia is at private dining at AKL, and she said the zebra is a 10-inch, although I thought I saw one smaller than that on this thread sometime ago. I was thinking of getting it for DH's birthday this Saturday, but I'm going to do something else instead.

So not true. All I know is that when I ordered my cake for the California Grill I asked for special fillings and a fondant Goofy I was told that they do not do that. I was only allowed buttercream and an edible image. If you look at my posting earlier in the thread you will see what I got. It was tasty and cute, but not $90 cute.

I believe this may be the Infamous $140 Cake. Although the OP never posted pricing, in 2007 someone paid $100 for a 1-layer Mad Hatter cake, and someone else posted that they were quoted $125 in 2008 for one. So that's about right with inflation and decorations (or maybe with conjecture I can flush CakeManBri out to give us today's price! )

When you consider that Disney charges $450 for a 2-tier and $980 for a 3-tier, that price isn't half bad...

Thanks to all here, I just placed my order,,, I ordered a custom cake for this Saturday for our meal at 1900 Park Fare. And I also placed a private dining order for the chocolate Mickey & Strawberries to be delivered to our room on Sunday for Father's Day.

Now I am hoping all goes well!

I am planning (hoping) to get a pretty customized cake with fondant and the 3D chocolate tinkerbell. I know most people seem to order their cakes 2 days-2 weeks before their trip. I have seen however people who do it several months out. I would like to order mine now, but I don't need it until August 27. Is there any disadvantage to ordering so far in advance?

Their possibly loosing your order.

You would absolutely have to call back and confirm much closer to your trip.

There is no need to order any more than 2 weeks before.

ok. by His grace a few hours ago I was able to book a last minute wishes boat cruise for my parents for THIS Sat night!! I know, I can't believe it!! Now, the real fun. I just booked it late so of course cake line closed. I called directly to the cake line voice mail instead of the 2253 number and left a message. PLUS I emailed wdw.magic.kingdom.cake.orders@disney.com Since we are leaving from Wilderness Lodge, should I call their bakery instead? I am really stressing! To top things off we are leaving tomorrow afternoon!! and I still have like a gazillion things to do!!!!

OK - don't wait for anyone to call you back (and I think that email doesn't work anymore) because the Cake Hotline is only for restaurants.

Call Wilderness Lodge and ask to speak to Private Dining. They can help you get a cake made and *should* be able to deliver it to the boat for you (the Grand Floridian does this). Otherwise, they can deliver it to your room and you can carry it to the boat.
