OK - don't wait for anyone to call you back (and I think that email doesn't work anymore) because the Cake Hotline is only for restaurants.

Call Wilderness Lodge and ask to speak to Private Dining. They can help you get a cake made and *should* be able to deliver it to the boat for you (the Grand Floridian does this). Otherwise, they can deliver it to your room and you can carry it to the boat.

I have a birthday cake on order for our Wishes cruise on the 25th; they do indeed deliver to the Wilderness marina (same gratuity and service charge as if they were delivering to the room.) The new cake hotline is a breeze to use - it's grouped by resorts. (I am assuming it's a "new" set-up. I had to make 2 different calls to order the aforementioned cake and another for our Yachtsman dinner on the 20th.)

By the way Lurkyloo, you are a huge asset to this thread - truly appreciate all your contributions : )

I am not happy with the WDW Cake Line.:mad: Have called 7 times in the past week & a half to order a cake for my nephew's birthday and have never received a call back.:headache: All I get is voicemail everytime I call. Are they that busy that they can't call someone back?? Is there a number to a LIVE person to speak to? :confused3 I tried to e-mail, but it gets kicked back as an wrong e-mail address. My brother & his family arrive this Saturday and I really wanted to get a cake delivered for them as a surprise. Do I have any chance of getting a call back or should I just forget it?

Thanks guys!! Lurkyloo...u really rock!:flower3:
I called WL bakery this morning and spoke with 'Alta' I described my cake and she says that she will have the chef call me back. I stressed the importance because we need it by Sat. She says she was on her way to tell him and have him call me.

Ok, fingers crossed!!

Price: $25

Date Received: various over the past 5 years

Location: GF and The Boardwalk Bakery

Cake info - white/yellow cake with buttercream filling and icing. We have always called either the GF (when staying somewhere around the lagoon) or The Boardwalk Bakery and asked for the mini 2 tier wedding cake replica and asked that they make it like the larger ones that are included in the Fairytale Wedding packages. Since we were married there the mini wedding cake has always been perfect for us. The taste of their buttercream brings me back :)
I have always been told it's a single serving... but there is no way. We eat those cakes for days. It's so rich! Both bakeries have said it's 4" but after they slather it in buttercream it's bigger than that - plus the top tier.

I want to order this cake for our anniversary, we will be staying at the GF. I wanted to know if any of you would know how much the mini castle topper would cost to add it to this cake. i know i can just order the regular mini cake with the castle that has the fondant and I beleive that costs $25 but this is so much cuter and I don't want fondant.
TIA :flower3:

I believe this may be the Infamous $140 Cake. :rotfl: Although the OP never posted pricing, in 2007 someone paid $100 for a 1-layer Mad Hatter cake, and someone else posted that they were quoted $125 in 2008 for one. So that's about right with inflation and decorations (or maybe with conjecture I can flush CakeManBri out to give us today's price! :lmao:)

When you consider that Disney charges $450 for a 2-tier and $980 for a 3-tier, that price isn't half bad...

Yeah, this is funny because I called the CR room service line last week and the lady kept giving me a quote and then she would go back and say " no that's not right, it would be this much" She did'nt even seem to know what she was talking about.... I wanted a white Buttercream frosting 10 inch cake with the White Chocolate castle in the center and the monorail going around it...she was going to charge me 45.00 for the cake, 25 for the castle and 35 for the monorail then another charge for something else!!:scared1: Ummm, I told her no thanks I would call back closer to my arrival and probably go with the mickey head cake! LOL!;)

Thanks for clarifying the availability of WL marina delivery! And I am so glad you like all my yammering on this thread... I feel like a big nerd, but I am obsessed by cake! :upsidedow

Oh dang - I'm dying to see what that monorail cake would look like! :cutie:

I don't think a mini castle would fit on this cake - it looks too small. I may be wrong, I'm not sure about the diameter of the top tier.

Does anyone have experience with Charlie's Gourmet Pastries in Orlando? I wonder if an offsite bakery would be more dependable to have a cake delivered to my room.

DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary in Sept. and I'm thinking room service and an anniversary cake would be nice. So far, the Disney cake lines seem to be a tangle and a chore.

I did an internet search and this Charlie's Gourmet Pastries gets good reviews. Curious if anyone knows anything about them. :surfweb:

The topper was (I'm not sure about right now) $15 when I ordered the mini castle cake a couple of years ago. She broke down the pricing of the cake for me.

The mini castle cake is now $30 at the GF.

It looks like it may fit. Call and ask them. :thumbsup2

I didn't read through the whole thread (hey, I have a 16 month old and my time is limited ;)) but I'm hoping someone can tell me...

Is GF Bakery the best place to get a custom birthday cake done? I like the ones that look like wedding cakes with the fondant and would like to a Mickey Mouse/POTC Theme for our trip in 7 months. I understand I can order anywhere from 6 months out but don't know that I'll need that much time. I just don't know how much detail I can ask for - I mean - I'd love to have a 1 tier 10 inch with a dark fondant in a boyish "pirate" color with maybe some treasure and things around and either a pirate Mickey or if not at least the White Chocolate Mickey and a Banner with both kids names and Happy Birthday on it. I'd REALLY love to have a Sugar Mickey custom made sitting in a treasure chest as a topper but I don't know if that's asking too much. I do plan to look through the thread to see all of the cakes (I scanned through the closed threads) but I just didn't have time to see how elaborate some of the newer cakes are. I will be picking the cake up at the bakery and bringing it back to our THV because if I understand correctly they won't deliver it to SSR for me??? TIA for any help.

Liljam...I know that you can order a cake from BW Bakery and pick it up, but I don't think you can do that at GF unless something has changed that I don't know about!

I just got off the phone with the YC/BC Bakery and they are making DD a custom cake for her 7th b'day at the Yachtsman! I am emailing ideas and pictures of how I want it done! I'll post after we celebrate her b'day on June 30th! I am so excited!

What resort are you trying to contact? This past Saturday, I called and left a message at the Wilderness, and they returned my call in a matter of minutes. I called back a little later for the YC/BC and talked to someone right away. Are you calling (407)827-2253?

Liljam - I had an idea, check out this page http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1811912&page=68 post #1007 for a great Star Wars cake with Jedi Mickey on it. If they can do that, I'd imagine they could do a Mickey dressed like a pirate.... I think that cake looks wonderful and perhaps they could adapt it for you. :goodvibes

PERFECT!
Did you have that done through BW Bakery as Sazzo's also suggested or did GF do it? I want to make sure I have enough planning time for the cake and know exactly what it will set us back. I suspect it will be over $100 or in that ball park. That Mickey is a perfect example though and I have it saved! Thanks so much!

I just figured Id say this, because I have a few months before I can contribute anything

I seriously come to this board mainly to check this thread.

thank you for cake.

Can I ask what size and price?

I will be having my dinner at Yachtsman (my friend and I), my Dad called to surprise me and ordered a cake. In order to get a chocolate cake with white icing, they told him it had to be a 10 inch cake (because that is "custom").

I'm thinking of calling to cancel since a 10inch cake is an awful lot for two people (my birthday is on Saturday - my Dad is coming down but not arriving until the following thursday so I think the cake will be a little stale by then).

I ordered the 10 inch, because I wanted it customized. We will have a fridge in our villa and are planning on taking it home with us twelve hours up the road, six days after we have celebrated her birthday! :rotfl2: My Mom wants to taste it!:lmao: We have had a cake from the BW Bakery in our villa for 7 days, after day five we popped it in the microwave for 12 seconds...it tasted like it was just made! There's a little WDW bakery cake tip for you!;)

That cake was made by the Yacht & Beach Club pastry chefs. You can't pick a cake up from them, but if you're having dinner at any of the restaurants there, you could have it delivered to your table. :thumbsup2

thank you for cake.

:rotfl2: I know how you feel...

Are the Mickey Head cakes frozen or freshly made? Also, I know someone else asked this a few posts back on one of these threads, but this particular Mickey Head Cake is on the official web-site......Is it true that the hand piped frosting Mickey head cake can only be ordered from the GF? Thanks so much! April

She said the monorail was white chocolate too. I think that would look too white, since the cake was going to have white frosting as well, KWIM? It would look great if it was painted though, but she did'nt mention that. Thanks for all of your help!
