my cake story continued......
Long story short (cause we are to get on the road in like 3 hours and I shoudl be asleep :lmao:

waited for my return call from Senora Alta.....and nada! so around 1 I called again and left a message. The chef who was very very nice called me back. Iwas in the middle of a workout and he could see that I was winded and offered to call me back. I told him no cause I thought that I may miss the call and the cake was VERY important. He laughed and promised to call me back in 45 min. And guess what......he called back in EXACTLY 45 min!!! I ended up asking him to do a white and dark marbled ganache chocolate cake with bavarian cream and strawberries, a red rose (red for the symbol of 40 year anniversary) and a scroll that read "40 years of Magic" He had to call back with the price since the scroll had to come from the Contemparary....aparently sometimes they make part of the specialty cakes since the WL is kinda small in the cake department. He called back and said that it would be 45 for the 10in cake, 15 for the cream and strawberries but he would give it to me for 55 total!!:woohoo:
I asked him to make sure it had a box with it so we could take it home and he agreed! He said that it will be waiting on the boat for us upon arrival to our Wishes Cruise!!

Ok....off to finish up packing and then to sleep. I hope DH doesn't think that I will be awake for this 7hr ride!!

That cake was made by the Yacht & Beach Club pastry chefs. You can't pick a cake up from them, but if you're having dinner at any of the restaurants there, you could have it delivered to your table. :thumbsup2

Thanks! I really want to have the cake at our villa so we can eat it in a more relaxed setting, then put it in the fridge and then not have to worry about it. So in this case, I could get the same kind of cake from BW Bakery and pick it up, right? Are they just as yummy and pretty? Thanks for this thread and all of the info! I want to be prepared! I'm so excited! Oh and will I still order through the hotline or call the bakery direct?

What resort are you trying to contact? This past Saturday, I called and left a message at the Wilderness, and they returned my call in a matter of minutes. I called back a little later for the YC/BC and talked to someone right away. Are you calling (407)827-2253?

I called the 407-827-2253 number, chose POR and was sent to "Chef Mike's" voicemail. Have called once a day for the last 2 weeks and all I ever get is his voicemail. :headache: Have left a message each day and have never received a call back. :sad2: I gave up and just ordered something from Disney Florist to have delivered instead. It's not a cake, but a basket with snacks, WDW (cooler) lunch bag, etc. I thought about ordering them ears, but don't want to waste the $$ if they won't wear them. I know that they are dining at a few places, but don't know what day.

Liljam,

The BW bakery is great at custom cakes! Last spring I ordered one for my DH and DD...they were second in state tournament for BBall. I wanted Goofy sports playing Bball. They did it! The cake tasted great for an entire week! It was marble cake with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate buttercream...YUMMY!

I just got off the phone with the YC/BC pastry chef...Little Sazzo's cake is a go! I will post pictures the evening of June 30th live from WDW! I hope I didn't confuse them with all I wanted her cake to be!:upsidedow I sent 7 pictures and a long winded, detailed email...we'll see!

I have never been disappointed in a cake I have ordered! We have been ordering custom cakes for 10 years now! WOW!:goodvibes

What a great idea! Do you have any pix of the Goofy cake? DS is a huge Bball fan!! I'd love to order that cake in October for his birthday. :goodvibes

I can't wait to see our cake. We're doing an Illuminations Cruise and staying at BC so BC IPO contacted YC/BC private dining about the cake. We have friends from home staying at YC during part of our trip, and since we're both celebrating our son's birthdays, we're sharing the cost of the cruise and the cake.

Thank goodnes because this cake is costing $100!

I asked for a 10' vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and fruit mousse filling. I told them we'd like some sort of pirate them/treasure chest. IPO said the bakers are very excited and are making a special cake. I actually tried to change it to a Star Wars cake after I saw the Mickey Jedi on this thread but they said it was too late they had already starting working on our cake. I was really surprised since our Illuminations cruise isn't until June 30!

I'll let everyone know what it looks like when we get back.

Thank's Sazzo's Mom - ca't wait to see the Goofy cake!

DisneyMomx7 - I'm excited to see the Pirate theme since that's what I'll be going with myself. I love the Star Wars Mickey so much they did a great job with him so I'm hoping for a fondant Pirate Mickey sitting in or propped by a treasure chest with lots of jewels. Please post as soon as you can! I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

I was just wondering if anyone has ever ordered a Minnie Mouse themed cake. If any of you DISers have photos that would be great!

If I have a cake delivered to my room at the Polynesian, I will have to go with their standard decorated cake (which are nice,IMO, but not fabulous) offered through the Polynesian?

Some are mentioning delivery to cruises. Does that mean they would deliver to other resorts? If so, which bakeries will do that? I'm sure there would be a delivery charge. Does anyone know how much that is?

TIA

I would love to know this too!:woohoo: We're staying at the Poly and I was wondering how the cakes are from there? Thanks! April

This would be precious!! I can't wait to see pics if they do it! WHY in the year 2009 can a company as large as Disney not create a page with cake options??!!!:confused3:rotfl2: You would think since they're promoting the whole BIRTHDAY thing, that they would make a selection of cakes. Right??

Look through this thread and the other two official cake threads, and you can see all the cakes that have been posted! I know it seems like a long time consuming thing, but you only need to look...don't read (unless you see something you like!).

It is whatever you can imagine that they can create. The chef's now really like to have images, especially at the YC/BC Bakery. I emailed a compilation of seven different pictures for what I have in mind for my DD's birthday at WDW.

As I have said previously, I have ordered several cakes over the past 10 years, and I have never been disappointed with the cakes I have requested. Some have tasted better than others, but the beauty if their decorations are unsurpassed!

Have fun deciding on the cake you want!;)

I am having trouble uploading my pictures for some reason, :confused3but if you want to see the pictures, here's what you can do.
Go to DISer Photos at the top of the screen. Scroll down to Member galleries. When you see the alphabet clisk on "S". Click on the 2nd page, and half way down is my Sazzo'sMommy page. Click on it and there is the cake...check out the basketball nets on the sides!

Hope you can find it and you like it like we did!:thumbsup2

thanks! i have been , and the cakes are beautiful, but after an hour, and having all three windows opened to go between them all, my eyes are no longer wet when i blink! lol i guess i was just hoping that disney had a website with cakes listed that they could do. im surprised they dont.

im so torn! ive see so many nice ones here, but would love to have our wedding cake recreated- even if just in miniture! what a surpsrise that would be for hubby!
