Check out the "Official Cake Thread" here. There are some very helpful and friendly people that frequent the thread. They might be able to help with ideas and the phone number to the cake hotline is listed at the beginning of the thread.

Good Luck!

I'm not sure about the cake, although I would assume its standard store bought cake. GG delivered to CBR prior to our arrival and our cold items were stored in a refrigerator until we arrived.

Has anyone tried ordering this cake recently? Wondering if the price is still the same? I’ve tried calling the cake hotline for GF, then was transferred to “Pat” for custom cakes; but, haven’t heard back from anyone yet. I would really love to order this one for our anniversary dinner at Narcoosee in August.
Also, does anyone know how you generally pay for the custom cakes?

I do not think the price is the same, most people are reporting that there is now $140 minimum for fondant. So the price of this cake has at least doubled with the "celebrate" theme it seems.

Normally your cake is added to your dinner bill, but a few people have reported having to prepay for it, there doesn't seem to be a pattern to that yet though.

Ok well I called Pat a few weeka ago it took her apprx 1 day to get back to me! She was very nice and accomdating she gave me a number that is supposedly a direct line to where she is here i'll give it to you maybe you will get somewhere with it and I was told that the price would be added to my bill that night! The last time I got a cake at CM's about 5 yrs ago! I had to give a CC and pay for it right then and there on the phone but this time it will be added to my bill! Maybe if it's over a certain price you have to secure with a CC?????:confused3

I think it would best to celebrate my dd5 birthday during lunch at MK. I don't want to drag around a cake though for the rest of the afternoon. Are they still doing the complimentary cupcakes at TS restaurants?

Got an answer to my own question. They ARE still offering complimentary cupcakes. Just in case you don't want to worry about carrying around a cake in the parks or for small parties.:thumbsup2

We just returned from the Beach Club and had this cake delivered to our room for our sons 7th birthday. He is a HUGE Star Wars fan and this cake was perfect for him!!!!!! The total cost was $85. It was soooooo yummy!!!!:thumbsup2

The little Yoda is sooooo cute! That's an awesome cake - and it was not a bad price. Is that fondant? If so, that negates the 140$ for fondant price people have been saying...

I believe this $140 price that is being tossed around was for a 1-tier Mad Hatter cake, which has a whole separate pricing structure.

Fondant-covered cakes from the Grand Floridian Bakery start at around $60 for a 6-inch - they just get pricier as people add more decoration requests. :thumbsup2

That cleared it up - thank you. I saw that number a few times and thought it was just in reference to fondant cakes in general.

It sounds like their is conflicting info from Disney, there have been several reports of the GF saying $140 min if there is fondant at all, not just the mad hatter cake. There are a couple examples on this thread on page 47. Several people were told by Pat that if there is fondant, that it is $140 min, but it seems like not everyone is getting that price.

Does anyone know if I can order a cake from Shutters at CBR? My son will be celebrating his 7th Birthday while were there and I would love to get him a cake.

Thanks:goodvibes

That cake was amazing. I'm so glad you posted pics. Inspired me to order a special cake for my ex's birthday at Yachtsman next Saturday. From reading this thread it sounds like the YC/BC bakery is one of the best on property. And since I'm paying for the dinner OOP we can just skip desserts from the menu and have cake instead. Not that much more money for what I hope will be a really wonderful cake. The CM from the YC/BC bakery number was just great - we are going with a Grumpy theme (he is my ex after all - LOL.) As an aside, my ex and I always promised our kids a special trip to WDW, and even though we're divorced, we're following thru on that promise. Doesn't hurt that I've known his GF since I was 5 years old and we all get along great. I'm hoping dinner at the Yachtsman and a special birthday cake will start our trip off perfectly!

quirty - what kind of cake did you order?

I ordered a 10 inch vanilla cake, with vanilla frosting and fruit mousse filling. I asked them to just go with a pirate theme (but not a screened print on the cake), something along the lines of a treasure chest. We're having it delivered to our Illuminations cruise and the price is $100.

Now that I'm seeing the Jedi I think I might rethink the pirate and go with Star Wars, ds is a huge fan and it's his birthday we're celebrating.

BTW - that is fantastic how you and your dh can get along so well to take the kids to Disney. You don't see that happening very much!
