Is that an 8in cake?

If you're asking about mine, yep. It was an 8 inch cake. I forgot to add that. It was way too much cake for the three of us so we shared with tables aorund us. There was still loads leftover. :) I don't know what we're going to do with two cakes this time around!! :rotfl:

Has anyone ordered a cake from California Grill? I'd like to order one for our Easter Dinner and would like to hear the good, bad & ugly on CG's cakes.

I've ordered from the Yachtsman Steakhouse in the past and they have been nothing but excellent.

Thanks!

Bumping.
I would like to know this too! TIA :)

Just wondering how far off you all like to call for your cake....Do you like to do it close to the 48 hour mark or months in advance? I like doing things in advance but I am afraid that it will get forgotten about if I call too soon...Because I do know of a person that did order a cake well in advance and it did not arrive...

What are your thoughts?

I have already called and ordered my cake for May 18th. It took several days to hear back from the chef. I will confirm everything again about a week out, but I wanted to be sure they would be able to do the cake we wanted.

Another question. For our cake at the CP, how many people does a 10 inch cake feed? Can we add buttercream and fresh strawberries for the filling?

This thread is great! I need to order a cake to surprise my DH on our anniversary. I'm still working on where to make ADR's for our anniversary dinner and honestly after reading this thread, I'm thinking that I need to go where I can get the best cake! So now it's either going to be the Yachtsman or somewhere at the GF. Ugh, so many choices. I only know one thing.....I want a white or yellow cake, buttercream filling and frosting and fondant.

Usually DH is the one that has all sorts of surprises for me but this year I want to surprise him with a cake. It just seems like there are so many choices!

Hope the surpirse goes well...I am ordering our anniversary cake too...Don't you just love the planning?!

Does anyone have any pictures of a Hannah Montana cake that they had at Disney? My daughter will be 5 and that is all she asked for is another HM cake even though she had one last year. I really didn't want to do just an edible image, but I figure that may be my only choice.

Eating at Yachtsman's Steakhouse and will be celebrating my DH's 35th b-day. I would love to order a nice cake for him for that dinner. Do I call the restaurant or the YC bakery? Does anyone have the number? Also, will they do pretty much anything?

Kristine

I think you need to to call the cake hotline number

407 827 2253

and you'll get directed from there.

Good luck!

This has influenced me to get a cake for our trip in Sept for our anniversary!

Although I don't know where we plan on eating that night, I think a Figment cake would be a awesome surprise for my DH!

I had one I think its been 2 years ago - we ordered it from the cake hotline - and it was delicious - previously we had just gotten a cake from the "podium" and that was terrible - so it took time convincing I wanted the $45 cake!

Keep in mind this was 2 years ago... at Crystal Palace - they provided the candles - last year we only got one candle...

What abeautiful cake!

We also have a DD named Lily that is celebrating her 6th birthday this yr at WDW (in May). Getting the lilies on her cake is a great idea - what did you ask for?

Actually I didn't even ask for the lilies, they just did that on their own. I didn't want a character, I just said "something pretty with Happy 6th Birthday Lily". I'm sure you could ask for lilies when you order. I have to say that my dd thought it was awesome that there were lilies on there. I didn't tell her that it wasn't my idea. ;) Happy birthday to your dd!

This is a free cupcake that was given to my son for his birthday at the Crystal Palace in January 2008. I didn't taste it, but my son was pleased that they brought this out to him with a candle. He also got a cute birthday card signed by Pooh, Piglet, Tigger & Eeyore!

We celebrated my dad's 70th birthday with a fireworks cruise on the Grand One. We ordered a cake from the Grand Floridian to have on board. They delivered it, and set it up with the rose petals. The cake was whipped cream with a custard & strawberry filling (My dad's favorite is strawberry short cake so we were going for something similar to that...). I don't remember the exact cost -- maybe $50 - $65. This was January 2008.

It was delicious. There were 12 of us and we had plenty left over for another night!

We also paid $50 for the boat to be decorated. There was a birthday banner on the back of the boat and balloons inside. The cruise was wonderful. Very special!

Hmm. Thats funny. They told me at SSR that I couldnt have an 8in cake with a character screen on it. How did you get that done without anyone saying that?

Does anyone know if I can have a cake delivered to TRex?

I do not believe so since T-Rex is not a WDW restaurant, it is owned by Landry's. I believe that they will allow you to bring in a cake and they do have some tasty looking desserts that you could enjoy too.

This was 2007. Maybe things have changed? I had to order at least an 8" to be able to get the image. This was also ordered from MK, not a resort, so that might make a difference.

Unless it was really 10" and they only charged me for an 8"? :rotfl2: I'm doubting that though!

Decided to answer my own questions by actually picking up the phone and calling! :) I thought I'd share my info for anyone else who might be curious.

I was told the same cake options as MK. So, all white or all chocolate. Nothing exciting. You have to do 8" or larger to get an image. She said the price on the image varies with cake size. I'm doing 8in, and it comes to $42. It was $32 for the cake, and $10 for the image. This is a little higher than I had read, so I felt it was worth putting out here. I'm sure there are more people reading this that want special cakes but don't really want to spend a hundred bucks on just one! We're also doing the mickey head cake and I was given a price of $48. Again, a touch higher than I saw on here, but only by a couple bucks. Plus tax & gratuity, of course.

I spoke to two different people because I forgot to ask about the mickey head cake on the first call. Neither one of them seemed very happy to help me. :sad2: If anyone gets any different info about cakes @ Chef Mickey, please share!

Sorry if this has been tackled already in this thread, but I've been keeping up with it daily and don't remember seeing this recently...

We are staying at the WL for my birthday on the July 4th weekend. I would like to have a cake, but I would like to have a decorated cake. It does not necessarily need to be fancy, but I would at least like to have a picture on it or a mickey head cake. We are having breakfast at 1900 Park Fare, so we could get a cake at GF bakery there. I do think those cakes are so beautiful, but they are so expensive plus since there are only two of us, we would def need to take the cake back to the hotel, but I don't think we would have time to do that before heading to the park. So, preferably, I would like to get a cake at WL so we could have it in our room and easily put it in the fridge. I hope all that makes sense...so, I guess my basic question can I get a cake that still looks Disney-ish at the WL? I don't want a plain one or one that has just flowers or something...Thanks for any help you can give me! :)
