Ooooh, that's pretty! Can I ask what flavor it was and when you ordered it? Did you specifically ask for the sugar flowers on top? I'd be annoyed too if they brought it out at the start of our meal! That is rather ridiculous. :confused3 Thanks! :goodvibes

It was a pretty cake and as I've said it tasted fantastic. It was a vanilla cake and the frosting was whipped cream. We did not ask for the sugar flowers, but were very happy that they made lilies since our dd's name is Lily. I ordered it on 2/23 for a dinner on 3/16.

BTW, I didn't mention above that the girl at the check-in desk announced "ok, that's a party of 5 with a cake order" and I said "oh, shhhhh, that's a surprise" and she said "what? the cake?". I should've known then.....

I would order one again bc it was that good. I would just be sure the person I was trying to surprise was not standing next to me at the check-in counter and I would not order it for a buffet.

I was just wondering where I can order a celebration cake? My oldest daugter is graduating a year early and while we are WDW we are celebrating both girls brithdays and i was just wondering where i can get a celebration cake And I was going to have it 1900 park fare when we go to dinner.

Congrats to your dd!! :worship:

Read my post above about getting a cake at 1900 Park Fare, so you can be prepared for the way the cakes are brought out there. This is the phone number I called to order the cake: 1-407-827-2253. I ordered it about 3 weeks in advance. Enjoy...they are delicious!

BTW, an 8" cake was plenty big enough. We had 5 people and only had about 1/2 of the cake. We had the waitress give the rest to the staff to enjoy.

I saw one the cake gallery, a picture of the tuxedo strawberries with the white chocolate mickey mouse made by the GF bakery and delivered to a room in the Grand Floridian.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if I can order this from Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurant and have it delivered to a DVC room at AKV?

TIA

Thanks!! Wow, that CM wasn't too bright at the check-in, huh? :lmao: I thought the sugar flowers on top were gorgeous and girly, something my DD9 would love! Good tip about checking in too...make sure the person you're trying to surprise with a cake isn't standing right next to you!:goodvibes

What a beautiful cake, and a perfect post with price and flavor!! So helpful, Thanks so much!!!!
Happy Anniversary!!:lovestruc

For those of you who've ordered cakes recently, could you please fill me in on the frosting? Does the buttercream taste like Crisco or is it real buttercream? Is the whipped cream frosting real whipped cream?
Thanks!
Gretchen

I guess you would call the buttercream under the fondant on our anniversary cake (Feb 09) real buttercream - it didn't have the Crisco-ish taste of supermarket buttercream. But it was sweeter than the buttercream I've had at some swanky bakeries.

Availability varies by resort - you would need to call Private Dining at Animal Kingdom Lodge and ask what they offer. Just call the resort's main line and ask to be transferred to Private Dining. :thumbsup2

We got for something like $35-$40 an 8" white cake with white icing for my dd's bday a couple of weeks ago.
What abeautiful cake!

We also have a DD named Lily that is celebrating her 6th birthday this yr at WDW (in May). Getting the lilies on her cake is a great idea - what did you ask for?

What a gorgeous cake! Do they cut it and serve it with the fondant or without. Just curious if people really do eat fondant.

I hope someone can help me out...We are going 11/28/09 to 12/5/09 and I am planning on our first night at 1900 Park Fare for dinner. I wanted to celebrate my husband's and I 10 year anniversary with a cake. I know what I want, the fondant covered, 6 inch with silver mickey heads stamped on it and maybe some purple flowers on top.....Since we will be dining here, do I just call Grand Floridian two weeks or so before we go to have this ordered...

Thanks everyone!!

OUr wedding cake last year was that cake but with the fondant being purple and no flowers. If I can ever get them to call me back to confirm (been waiting for 2 weeks now) we'll have a 6 inch version for our 1st anniversary dinner on the 23rd. I'll be sure to post a pic.

I am needing two cakes for our upcoming vacation in Sept. I need one for our anniversary at 1900 Park Fare and one for my mom's b'day at 'Ohana. If I order two from the Grand Floridian Bakery, are they going to charge a delivery fee to 'Ohana? Can you order cakes there instead?

Thank you!!:goodvibes

GF cakes are made for their guests. If you happen to get someone who is willing to let you order a cake from the GF for Ohana, there will be a hefty delivery charge....some have reported it being $75.

All the deluxes have their own bakeries so you can order a cake for Ohana's from the Poly.

OK, so I need to make two orders. One at the GF for 1900 Park Fare and another order at the Poly for 'Ohana. There is no way I would pay that kind of delivery fee. :rotfl2:

Do you have any suggestions for the cake at 'Ohana? I haven't seen any from there that I remember, or do they basically do the same thing at all of the resorts?
Sorry for so many questions.:guilty:

Hi
If we eat at Narcosses but are not staying at GF ( but eating there ) do we call Gf bakery ???
Also if we buy the smallest cake ( we are only 4 adults ) I guess this would be a maybe 6 to 8 inches can they still put an edible picture on it ??? and how much would that picture be ??
Thanks

Thank you everyone for all the help on this thread and the original cake thread!! My daughter and grandsons are leaving for wdw on Monday the 6th which is also my daughters birthday!!:goodvibes They are meeting my son in law there for his R&R from Iraq. He will be there some time between the 7th and 9th. I wont be arriving until the 14th and we will all be there until the 21st.
I debated what to do as I really wanted her to have her cake on her birthday, but I ended up ordering it for the 10th so she will be with her husband also!!
I called SSR and Teri returned my call. What a sweetheart she is!! She was extreemly helpful. I wanted an 8" cake and wanted it decorated with Tinker Bell and pink flowers (my daughters two favorites!!). Teri told me the only way to get a character on the cake was to order a 10" cake. I also asked for Bavarian cream and strawberry filling. Teri told me the cakes for SSR are made at the Grand Floridian and the SSR staff picks them up, delivers them to Artists Pallette and then the guest picks them up there. No delivery to the room as there is no room service. She offered me a white, chocolate or marble cake and buttercream, chocolate or whipped cream frosting. She said the bavarian cream/strawberry filling was not a choice. I said I had heard that Grand Floridian had made cakes with the filling before and if at all possible it is what I wanted. She said she would call Grand Floridian and call me back.
When she called back, she said she ordered my daughters cake as follows:
10" marble
bavarian cream with strawberries; Yea!!!!
buttercream frosting (I was afraid it would have to be cut up to fit in the frig after and the whip cream frosting would be too fragile.)
A Tinker Bell cake decoration dangle that looks like she is flying which will be surrounded by pink flowers!!!
Teri said she really wished she would be there to see the cake, but that she will be on vacation. She asked if I would send her a picture of the cake, I told her I would be happy to! I really felt she bent over backward to get me what I wanted! She was also very sweet!
She told me she would like to have an album of all the cakes that she had ordered in the past for people to look at, but said they are working on an online ordering system that will have several cake styles that people can look at and order from. No date when that will start however.
I told her I got the ideas from "the dis". She laughed and said "there are thousands of cakes on there!":rotfl:
I told her my daughters cake would be also!! So thank you dis cake experts!! Can't wait and I will post pictures when I get home!!:goodvibes

If you are eating at the GF or staying there then they can make a cake for you.

I'm not sure about the rest of your questions. Your best bet is to call the GF bakery and ask them what they can do for you. Sometimes it just depends on who answers the phone. Some will say the cake has to be at least 10 inches to be personalized but many have luck getting a small cake personalized.

Good luck.

I'm planning to order a cake for my DD9 at CRT. Has anyone ever done a chocolate topper on a cake there? I was thinking of doing a Minnie chocolate topper. Thanks!:goodvibes

This cake is just awesome. Its something I'd love for my dd. Does anyone know what chocolate cake toppers you can choose from. I've seen the Mickey ones and also a Donald one on another cake thread. Just wondering if there is anything else. Maybe something princess. We are eating a 1900 PF for DD's 5th birthday, and I really have no idea what to get. This one has stood out though.
