Cake info - white/yellow cake with buttercream filling and icing. We have always called either the GF (when staying somewhere around the lagoon) or The Boardwalk Bakery and asked for the mini 2 tier wedding cake replica and asked that they make it like the larger ones that are included in the Fairytale Wedding packages. Since we were married there the mini wedding cake has always been perfect for us. The taste of their buttercream brings me back :)
I have always been told it's a single serving... but there is no way. We eat those cakes for days. It's so rich! Both bakeries have said it's 4" but after they slather it in buttercream it's bigger than that - plus the top tier.

Can these mini wedding cakes be ordered in custom flavors or just the stand yellow or chocolate? I want to order one for our anniversary dinner in May, but I'd like to get chocolate cake with amaretto mousse filling because that is what we had at our wedding. I'd be willing to order it slightly larger than the regular 4" size if need be. Also would you recommend the GF cake or the BW bakery cake or were they about the same? We're dining at the GF, but we're staying at BWV so I could easily walk over & pick up a cake from the bakery. Thanks for any input!

So I have a question for you cake experts. What tastes better when ordering the cakes, I was tossing up between buttercream (we always get this at our Publix) or the Fundant (which I think looks prettier). Also an recommendations on the filling flavor? As much as I want a magical cake I want it to taste good!

I'd love to know what you find out. I'm thinking of ordering one for our anniversary too. It's the perfect size for us. I'd love to have it with carrot cake and cream cheese frosting! Yum!:lovestruc

For GF cakes, do you still call the cake hotline or the GF directly?

Hi Goofy Gal,

I was just on the GF thread on the resort forum and someone had just posted their experience with a cake from them. :goodvibes

Hi, can somebody please give me the number to call to speak to Linda about a custom cake for our 1900 PF Adr? I have called the cake hotline and was transfered to an aswerphone message for somebody called ''Pat'' but she still hasnt phoned me back.

Thanks :goodvibes

Ok... this may sound ridiculous... but can I have a cake delivered to a Fort Wilderness Cabin? Anyone?

Would I be able to get a cake delivered to All Star? If so, can they make a cake that has Welcome to Disney on it? The only thing we are celebrating is my parent's first trip.

Unless the cabins have room service, I'm gonna say no on that one. But maybe they could deliver it to the restaurant and you could pick it up there? :)

So I have a question for you cake experts. The best advice I can give you is that you need to think about how fast you'll be eating the cake, and if you'll have a large enough fridge to store it in at your resort. I got a mousse filled cake last year from Boardwalk, and it wouldn't fit in the fridge in our Wilderness Lodge room no matter which way we tried it. Without being refridgerated, it went bad within 3 days. No way could we eat a 10" cake in 3 days. This time, we're sticking to chocolate buttercream filling. I loved the mousse, but I'd rather actually be able to eat the cake, you know?

For the outer part of the cake, if you think the Fondant is prettier and you can't typically get it elsewhere, I'd go with that. Have fun and good luck!

Disneymomma, another option to consider is a white chocolate, and chocolate swirled covering they use.

My husband ordered this for a birthday cake at GF. We had it at the Floridian Cafe, I think thats the name. It was the restaurant that we did a character dinner at when 1900 park fare was being fixed and was closed.

Anyhow the cake was a white cake inside with custard and strawberries, and it had this white chocolate, swirled with chocolate on the outside. It kind of looked like fondant but it was all made of chocolate. On the top they put a white chocolate thin peice decorated like cinderella. It was absolutely amazing. If I knew how to load pictures I would post it here.

I know he called private dining at the GF so not sure who he spoke to. The amazing thing was he did this completely on his own because he never reads the disboards lol I was so impressed.

We had left over cake and as a whole it also wouldnt fit into the refrigerator so what we did was got a couple of little plates at Gasparillas cut up the cake and put the plates in the fridge. We were also able to cover it up with napkins so nothing fell on it. I am weird about leaving things uncovered lol

That cake was the best I have ever had. Even better than my wedding cake:yay:

OK, I know I'm gonna get a lot of people saying they love to eat fondant, but you don't really eat the fondant on Disney cakes. You peel it off and there's buttercream underneath, so you don't have to decide between the two - whohoo!

The choice is really how much you want to spend. A fondant-covered cake will be more expensive than one covered in buttercream or ganache.

I'd take SorcererDonald's advice on the filling, too - if I'd known I could get buttercream frosting between the layers instead of mousse, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I just don't think their mousse tastes that great. But I'm a crazy frosting lover, so take that for what it's worth...

Thanks for your advice, we love buttercream so I may do the filling on the inside and have the fondant on the outside for the looks. Thanks so much!! 2 more weeks and I'll post pictures when we get back!!

I loved the look of your cake, the pink one-I keep looking at it thinking I NEED to have lime green fondant. Thanks for the advice, since I know we can put buttercream on the inside I'll do that and then the fondant for the WOW factor of Nicholas's monorail cake!!

Thanks so much for your advice, would love to see a picture it sounds beautiful!! I am pretty sure we can finish the cake at breakfast, we have 12 people!! I wonder if maybe they can take the white chocolate and dye it a certain color?? That might work, if not I think I'am set on the fondant!!

does the fondant have buttercream underneath? in some bakeries they do put buttercream under the fondant. i wonder if you can request the cake to be made that way. if so, you could have both and the taste and look could be fantastic.:thumbsup2

the chocolate cake with amoretta flavored buttercream between the layers sounds really good.::yes::

i think i just gained 10 pounds thinking about the cakes.:cake: happy cake day. any day will do, it doesn't have to be a birthday or aniversary.;)

Hi there. We will be going to WDW in Aug and will be celebrating my DD 6th bday and my DS 3rd bday. We plan on eating at the Cape May Clam bake the day we arrive as we are staying at the Beach Club.................so my question is, can I order the small castle cake they have for our dinner at the Cape May Clam bake and also does anyone know of the little cake(I guess it is little and a cake) that looks like Mickey, like have of his head. It does not have Mickeys face just a dome shape head and ears. I hope that makes sense. If anyone understands that, can I order that as well to have at dinner? Any help is appreciated. :)

Hi we just had a mickey head cake at Cape May two weeks ago for my husbands birthday.

It was very good. We got the white cake inside and it had a white frosting between the layers, then the outside wa all covered with chocolate and it had these, what looked like chocolate rice crispies on the sides.

The cost was $48. We did the whole shabang and got the table centerpeiceand the delux goody bags. It was great. They did a really good job at Cape May for us and kept it quiet so my husband had no idea even that the cake was coming til the end. He thought it was cool that we had just decorated the table and the bags.

About the white chocolate cake, I do know that there have been others who have been able to post pictures of similiar cakes so perhaps with some searching, or if someone reads this they can repost a picture of what it would look like for you. :)

The mini-castle cake is only available at the GF restaurants. Although I think I read that someone asked the Boardwalk Bakery to put a chocolate castle on a cake and they said they could do it so maybe you could check with them, although I'm not sure that Cape May would let you bring in an outside cake.

Thanks for the replies. I am not sure what really to do. I did think about the new celebration cakes but I do want the cakes to taste good. Did anyone have these recently? Anyone else have any other suggestions for cakes that are not to expensive bc I do need 2 of them.
