This was my birthday cake last week. While it was a bit pricey, DH insisted. It's kinda become a tradition now to celebrate my birthday in WDW.

10" - smallest they'd make decorated like this
yellow cake with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries in center
whipped cream frosting

Yay! I can finely share pics of my wedding cake from my little family wedding breakfast/reception (Me, Hubby and two sons had small ceremony at Disney)

Restaurant: Grand Floridian Cafe
Cake: 10" (way too big, but the smallest they'd make with what I wanted on it)
Flavor: Chocolate cake with fresh raspberry mousse
Icing: White fondant with buttercream underneath
Price: $160 (Can't complain about the cost too much since it was our wedding cake!)

Wow! If it's $30 for an edible image, then that is so rediculous!! I just paid $5. for one at my local Stop and Shop and had another bakery put the image on a cake for my daughter's 13th birthday.

For my 40th birthday, I ordered an 8 inch cake at CRT and just said I want Melificant on it and they did it for me and it was $25. That was in 2005 but still that's a huge $$ increase!!!!

That's a neat cake, was it $25 for the whole cake, or for the pic? I thought that I had read that images were $5, which is why I was so so surprised about them being six times as much.

Okay, I've finished reading :surfweb: and I THINK I have this right:

I can order a cake topper alone (DD is gluten intolerant) or a Cinderella slipper at GF or Boardwalk bakery. The slipper can be ordered at CRT as well. Price is around $15 for the slipper and $40 for the topper.

We are staying at POP so I can't have it delivered to my room or anywhere else on the POP property. I'll need to either pick it up at the bakery or have it at our meal (not preferred since it is breakfast) at CRT.

I called the cake hotline last week but haven't heard back yet, so I would appreciate it if you "DIScake pros" would let me know if I've got it right :thumbsup2.

Not sure what cake topper you are talking about?? The little white chocolate castle? or maybe the white chocolate Mickey statue?

The white chocolate Cinderella slipper is available at GF resort and restaurants and at also CRT. Not sure what the current price of the slipper is but I believe it's around $15.

I've never heard of anyone being able to pick up the slipper; only seen it available eating at CRT and GF.

Thanks; I didn't realize the toppers were different prices. I was thinking of a white chocolate Ariel like the Mickey ones that I've seen on cakes, without any painted details.

Just wondering if someone could help me? I have ADR's for the night of my anniversary at Narcoossee's, and I wanted to surprise DH with a special cake. Should I call the restaurant or the GF bakery?

The white chocolate statues (I've never seen an Ariel one) vary depending on which CM you talk to or even which resort you call. I paid $25 for a Mickey statue in 2004 when I stayed at the Boardwalk and then at Christmas time in 2006 I got a Donald statue at the GF Gingerbread house store for only $18.

The white chocolate statues are still available at the CR in-room dining for $25. (Mickey, Minnie and Tinkerbell) and the monorail is $40.

But do I believe some on this thread have said they paid or were quoted as much as $40 for one on a cake.

The GF bakery. At least I'm 99% sure. Last year when DH turned 40 while in WDW I ordered him an absolutely delicious cake through GF bakery and they delivered it to Narcoossee's since the restaurant is on property.

We'll be celebrating DS's birthday on our trip in December and I'm still not sure if I'm going to order him a cake during the trip.

20% discount? Was this with the TIW card?
If so, did you tell them when you ordered the cake or did they just subtract it from your dinner bill?

Yes, it was with the TIW card. I did tell them about it when I ordered, but she said just to bring it to the restaurant. The cake charge would be on the bill and they would take the discount off the entire bill.

It worked great!

Our 2 celebration cakes from our visit last week - both looked and tasted amazing:

"Grumpy" cake for my ex at Yachtsman. 10" Marble cake with white chocolate filling and white buttercream icing and fruit & chocolate garnish. $75

Mickey Head cake from Wilderness in-room dining, delivered to our Wishes cruise. We went with the vanilla cake - had chocolate & custard filling. $48

Congratulations on your wedding!!! This is truely beautiful. They did a wonderful job!!!!
I know what you mean about "too big". My cake was the same size as yours and it was just two of us. We ate "alot" of cake on this vacation!!! I asked the morning of the delivery for some sort of foil/saran wrap so I could keep it in the fridge. Luckly my birthday was early in the week. :goodvibes

Just in case anyone is like me, trying to order a cake alternative: I just got through to the cake hotline and they won't let me order just the cake toppers (the white chocolate figurines) that I see on so many of these beautiful cakes. Looks like my only choice is the slipper dessert at CRT or a reservation at a GF to get a white chocolate Mickey. Does anyone know if that can be sent back to your resort, or will I be carrying around the remainders of the dessert all day in the hot, hot, MK? We will be there in August, so I'm sure that it will melt. Or maybe it is much smaller than I am thinking?

Or is there another place that I can pick up something similar? Perhaps DTD? We'll have a car so transportation isn't a problem.

The only way I've heard of people getting the white chocolate statues is through in-room dining. I believe they handle those. I've seen them available at Boardwalk, YC/BC, CR and GF off the top of my head. But like I said before, at Christmas time they were being sold at the GF Gingerbread house (I know that doesn't help you).....also, I saw the statues at Disney Studios in a cafe that sold coffee, hot chocolate and muffins. They had a display of white chocolate statues. I wish I could remember the name of it (possibly Starring Rolls Cafe) but it's on the corner between the road to TOT and the road to Ariel's show.

No, they won't hold the dessert for you and they won't send it back to the resort for you.

I appreciate the help, beattyfamily,

Since I'm at POP, the in-room dining won't work for me. I guess we'll have a slipper dessert for breakfast at CRT and the remainders can be left behind. Nothing wrong with a little dessert first thing in the a.m. on your birthday, is there?

Nope, nothing wrong with that at all!! ;)

What I meant was if you wanted to order a statue for a restaurant at the GF or CR (or any other resort that does have the statues) then you'd call that resort's in-room dining to order the statue for the restaurant you want it at at that resort, not the cake hotline. :thumbsup2

The slipper is tiny, so you won't need to carry around remainders. I'm pretty sure you'll all finish it off!
