Wondering if anyone has had a Red Velvet Cake w/Cream Cheese Frosting made or know if GF would make that type?

Since that is mainly the only type of cake we have ever had, I am not quite sure what buttercream tastes like :confused3 and don't think I would want that. Is butter cream the same that is on those sheetcakes from grocery store bakery's?

Yes! One layer of our wedding cake (made by the GF) was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. However, I didn't think it was all that good compared to red velvet I've had from small Southern bakeries - it was very dense and dry and not very chocolatey. The frosting was very tangy and cream cheesey.

Buttercream is usually sweeter and more substantial than whipped cream frosting. Some supermarkets use buttercream and some use whipped cream.

We leave Saturday. (WOOHOO) I have ordered a Mickey head cake for dinner at Sanaa. I got right thru on the cake hotline and spoke with two very nice people who said the Mickey head cake was no problem He gave me the choice of yellow or chocolate cake. My oldest only eats chocolate. (do you blame him?) He described the cake as chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream icing and a chocolate glaze. I did not ask the price but I did have to give a credit card to reserve it. They told me just to remind them at the podium at check in. We will see what happens.
I will post pics when we get back. I will also take pics of any other cakes that I see if I get to for all of you cake addicts!!

I want to order that Mickey head cake for DS's birthday and I thought they only had it at the contemporary or the BW bakery. Great to know you can get it elsewhere. I'm thinking of having DS's birthday dinner at Ohana's (BF at Tusker House) and hoping to get the Mickey head cake for dinner.

Can't wait to see pics!! :goodvibes

We're having a Mickey Head cake at the CP this Saturday. I'll post pics when we get back next week.

Great to hear that you can get it at CP also. :goodvibes So I'm going to be optimistic and say I should be able to get it at Ohana's. :wizard:

Wow it seems like cake prices have really gone up.

I just ordered ours for ds's birthday. It will delivered to the Illuminations Cruise. It is a 10 inch vanilla cake with vanilla butter cream frosting and fruit mousse filling. I asked them to do a "pirate theme", but not a screened icing cover. It is going to cost $100! Luckily we are meeting another family for the cruise, friend from home, and we are celebrating their son's birthday too, so we'll be splitting the cost.

Hope the cake looks great - it better for $100!

Can you order a cake with Dumbo on it?

If so, where can you order it from while we stay on property at
WDW?

If anyone has pictures of cakes that have been ordered at Disney, please post the.

Cake Hotline number is 407-827-2253 and requires 48 hours notice call that when you decide what restaurant you would like to order the cake for. I have not noticed if anyone has ever ordered one with Dumbo on it. So I would call and talk to someone from Disney I am sure they will be able to help!

Hi, did you have any luck with the Dumbo Cake? If so, do you have any pictures?

I've been searching for a picture of a Dumbo cake and came across your thread.

Many thanks!

I would LOVE to see a Dumbo cake too! Our 3 year old LOVES Dumbo and we want to do a cake for her Bday in December when we are down there! I'm gonna call the cake line, but would love to see if anyone has one already!

We're going in september & I want to order a special birthday cake for DD princess: who will celebrate her 5th birthday there (CRT).

It's only the 2 of us so I would like a small cake but that can have her name on it ?

I thought about the slipper or the mini-castle but I am not sure they can write her name:confused3
& she does'nt like anything with chocolate:confused:

any ideas ? or pictures ?:surfweb:

Thanks

Do they deliver cakes to resort rooms or is it just to restaurants? My nephew is turning 13 the day they arrive, this is the first trip to WDW for all of them and my brother & sister-in-law just celebrated their 20th anniversay. I wanted to get a cake to celebrate both events, but am unsure of their dining plans. They are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. Can I get a cake delivered there? Also, what options to I have in regards to cake, filling frosting, etc? I don't want a big cake, but something a little more than a cupcake. Also, Hercules is my brother & nephew's favorite character. Can they put his image on the cake?

Hi guys!! We have finally settled on hollywood and vine for my parents' 40th anniversary spot (along with the kids). I need to order a cake for our party of 9! (including two kids, 4, and 6)

I want something moist and nice and tastes good. I don't know what will deliver there and I don't want to pay a $100 delivery fee :scared:

Any suggestions?

Dont know about anything without chocolate but if you get the slipper they can write her name on the plate, not on the slipper.

we're having a character breafast at Cape May on our wedding anniversary... can we have a cake there, at 10am:rotfl2:

This is called the "Anniversary Cake" and was ordered from the cake hotline.
It was made at the Grand Floridian Bakery for Dinner at Narcoossees.

This cake was customized as a surprise for my Husband on our anniversary last year.
(he never got to try our Wedding cake, so I had them re-create the flavor)

It is 4 layers (enough for 4 people)
The flavor was Chocolate cake with Strawberry Mousse filling (exactly what he didn't get to try from the wedding)

All total including presentation, $70.
AND I got to keep the plate! I was VERY pleased! :thumbsup2

Has anyone tried ordering this cake recently? Wondering if the price is still the same? I’ve tried calling the cake hotline for GF, then was transferred to “Pat” for custom cakes; but, haven’t heard back from anyone yet. I would really love to order this one for our anniversary dinner at Narcoosee in August.
Also, does anyone know how you generally pay for the custom cakes?

What do I put in a cake for an 8 year old girl? We are not celebrating anything but this is her 2nd time going and she is really excited. I thought it would be cool to get her a cake at 1900 Park Faire. It is our 3rd night there so a welcome to Disney wouldnt work. Any ideas?

Good to know, thanks!

I hear you about "small southern bakeries" we have been ordering a red velvet cake from a small local bakery (who only does red velvet and carrot cake) for 30 years and it is literally out of this world. Around hear if there is red velvet cake being served chances are it is from the Red Oven.

Definitely going to skip GF's red velvet as all we would do is compare it to the ones back home, lol! I guess it is time to try a different type of cake :rotfl: Would chocolate and buttercream be a good combo? It seems to be pretty popular. Also I have read alot about custard fillings and such.....are these any good with chocolate cake and can anyone recommend one?

I will be calling next week to set up the cake order and will let everyone know how that goes :)

Has anyone ordered a birthday cake from Garden Grocer? How was it? Was it fresh & moist? If I have it delivered, does the Disney resort store it in a fridge so it does not go bad?
