sorry it's not what you wanted :( I had gotten my mom a cake from WL before delievered to the room and was not pleased with it either. The cake that I got from CSR was way better and better tasting. I ordered a cake from YC for on Thursday so we'll see how this one turns out!

Don't blame you at all for not being happy with it. That doesn't look at all like the HM to me, just Halloween-ish. Sorry it wasn't fresh. I could overlook the theme, but not the freshness.

I'm curious to know what you were expecting. Was it supposed to be a fondant cake with Haunted Mansion details, or perhaps a cake with a screenprint of the mansion on it? Either way, that just looks like a spiderweb theme cake to me. Sorry for your disappointment, but happy to hear that they were responsive to your complaint.

Wanted to share the cake we got for DH's birthday.. we stayed at CR and had this delivered to our table during dinner at Chef Mickey's on 11/28:

AN extra special shout out to our server that night... she helped keep the cake a surprise until the very end when she brought it out and put it in front of DH.

The cake and monorail were tasty! This was chocolate lover's heaven, lol!

I am ordering a custom cake for My DS 5th bday at WCC in January. The bakery at WL is limited in what they can do, so if you have something in mind that is beyond their capabilities than they will have the bakery at CR do it and have it delivered to WL. I ordered a 10" cake Mickey mouse clubhouse theme that the CR is sending over.

Who did you call for your clubhouse cake? If I call cake hotline for WL then tell them I want something custom will it get to the correct person?
Thanks!

Mary T in PA, that is one cool cake! What was the monorail made of?

Thanks!

The monorail is white chocolate, and I believe it can only be ordered at CR but I could be wrong- sometimes things change and I am such a dinosaur I don't keep up on all the small changes, lol!

If you call the cake hotline and follow the prompts to WCC you can tell them in detail of what you would like. The more detail you have about what you want the better. The more complex cakes are made by CR and delivered to WCC for your meal. I am more confident that CR will make a great cake than the limited bakery at WL. I called and had them confirm what the cake was to look like as well so it should be perfect.

As I posted b4 we were very happy with our cake from the CR and it was what I had hoped for and what I ordered. I asked for 10" with buttercream frosting and white chocolate filling. I wanted it to look wedding with red and pink flowers. We were so pleased!! It even tasted better than expected. My sister inlaw does cakes professionally and hers are soooo good. This wasn't as tasty as hers, but good nonetheless. The cake was huge and ate it for days. We had it delivered to the room as a surprise for my parents. It cost $75 + delivery and gratuity. Here it is. I hope this works. It is my first time posting pics. One of the pictures is of our tree swap and the other is the flowers we ordered to be delivered. They were beautiful!

Just back last night from our "belated" honeymoon trip. I had our cake delivered to CM after our breakfast on 12/3. The cake looked awesome!! Better than what I was expecting. We did not cut it there so they boxed it up for us (after looking for a big enough box) It made it all the way back to SSR. When we did cut it later that night, I must say I was a little disappointed in how it tasted. I had ordered a marble cake, white choc. mousse, white butter cream and than the fondant. The white choc. mousse (or what was supposed to be white choc. mousse) looked and tasted like pudding. Neither hubby or I liked it at all. We also thought the layers of cake were very thin, not much cake. I will post pictures as soon as I get them uploaded. As I said previously...the cake looked amazing, but with it not tasting so good I was not happy to pay that much to not eat it.

Here are the pics of the cake. I forgot to mention that I had also ordered the white choc. banner but this banner was not choc. It did not even taste edible (seemed like playdoh). The flowers were not edible either or atleast they didn't taste like it. I also asked for a marble fondant and you can see from the photo that it really isn't marbled. Not a very good experience :sad2:

Sorry you had a bad experience for what its worth I think it looks great.

It does look pretty cool. But it looks like it could use more filling/icing on the inside.

Your cake looks great, but it looks like they got your filling request incorrect. We had a cake in October that was WONDERFUL at CR, and we requested bavarian creme filling and that's what yours looks like. Here's a pic:

We really loved my dd's cake, the look and the taste, BUT, it's what we ordered and it just looks like they messed up your order when it came to filling? Ours wasn't too much, although looking at the picture it might seem like it was (it smooshes down when you cut it and the cream spreads)

I can't post pictures yet since my computer is in the shop and I'm using DH's work computer. I will be able to post pictures in a couple of weeks.

The cake experience started off bad. I had originally called AKL private dining and was told they probably couldn't do what I wanted but that they would check with the chef and call me back. They never called me back so I placed an order with Pat for Narcoossee's. Imagine my suprise when we returned to our room the first night and there was a cake on the table. It really did not look good. It had a Mickey screen printed on an easel type display and my DH's name printed out on edible paper and stuck to the top of the cake. I called the front desk and they came and picked up the cake and made sure the bill was credited. I was really upset that they had managed to ruin the suprise for my hubby. I talked to the front desk the next day and they offered to pay for the cake at Narcoossee's as a way to compensate for the mistake.

The cake at Narcoossee's was fantastic. We had a chocolate cake with custard filling and fresh raspberries. There was chocolate buttercream frosting and fondant. I told them I wanted navy blue fondant with stamped mickey heads and a penn state theme. They really did a great job. They did a white chocolate disk with the penn state logo and some sugar footballs stuck to it. And a chocolate football helmet and kicking tee. DH was really impressed. The whole family loved it. DFIL had 2 pieces. Turns out DS loves fondant. He ate about half of the rope wrapped around the bottom of the cake. The cake itself was delicous. Nice and moist.

Never again!!!!

After seeing the incredible Jack Skellington and Jungle themed cakes done at AK I ordered myself a Lion King themed cake from AKL to be delivered to AKV Kidani on the night of our arrival. I didn't give them much direction other than "Lion King themed" and I was told that they could do some three dimensional lions and that it would be around $80, plus tax & gratuity. What I got looked like someone learning to decorate cakes at some discount grocery store. Actually I've had better looking cakes from grocery stores and to say that I was slightly bummed about it would be an understatement.

The cake itself had such tiny amounts of mousse inside that the cake had practically no flavor. What I thought would be tasty icing had no flavor and even with four adults and three children eating on a 6" cake I ended up throwing at least a third of the cake away. The three dimensional lions ended up being very poorly cut-outs of Simba and Nala standing up and the jungle part was poorly piped green icing on the sides of the cake. Huge letdown. Even after talking with the manager and them taking off the $30 for the decorations (if you can call the lions that) I was still ticked and will never be ordering any sort of cake from anywhere on Disney property again. Maybe if they would have taken an extra five minutes to at least make the cutouts look decent and not like my 8 yr. old had done them I would have possibly been pleased. But I guess after seeing the two aforementioned cakes from AKL I had my hopes set way too high.

It is sad when the towel cake that they delivered the next day looked more professional than the cake that I paid good money for. Such a disappointment.

I feel for ya! I don't think I will ever order a cake from Disney again either! I wish I had only paid $80 for the cake or should I say disappointment I got! For the amount of money you spend on a cake you should expect it to look good AND taste good.

I think the cake is cute, but I agree that it does look more like something you would get for a much cheaper price at a supermarket. I could see how you would be disappointed by that cake if you were expecting fondant and three-dimensional lions. Sorry it didn't taste good either.

We'll be at WDW next year for our DS 7th birthday. Our tentative restaurants are below. Where would I most likely get a fun cake? We've had the cardboard podium cakes before & I'd like to order something this time.

Ohana
Chef Mickey
Boma
Crystal Palace

Or should I just bite the bullet & head to the GF for a meal with a really cool cake?

Thanks!
Michelle
