Oh and by the way everything was edible, the wand was the first to go.
I wondered about that. My 6 year old DD asked what the wand was made out of and I told her probably paper/cardboard or plastic, lol. I'll have to tell her I was wrong! The cake was very pretty. My DD would love a cake like that, but we're not having any meals at the GF this time around.

I thought the wand and crown were plastic, but the kids figured out they were both chocolate and dug right in!

We were only able to get a ressie at Park Fare, 10 days before our trip.

HELP, PLEASE! I need some advice:

We will be staying at CR for a multi-generational trip in just a few weeks! YAY! We are there Monday 9/21-Friday 9/25 & have a tower magic kingdom view. While we are there, my mom will be celebrating her 72nd birthday :cool1: and I would love to surprise her with a cake.

My dilemma:
we have breakfast reservations at chef mickeys on her actual birthday (thursday, 9/24) and dinner reservations that evening at le cellier. Which one would you all suggest for the cake? I am torn because even though it's vacation, the idea of cake in the morning makes me a little queasy! :rotfl: But -- from what I've read, cakemanbri is awesome and I just love some of his designs! However, cake with dinner is much better to me -- but it seems like you just get a very plain cake if you are not at a resort. And, we have the deluxe dining plan so our dessert is included (and they sound so yummy at le cellier!)

So what do I do? And if I have it for breakfast at Chef Mickey's, will it keep well in our room while we are out all day(and into the night?)

Any & all advice is welcome....thanks in advance!!

1sttimemickeymom, could you just have it delivered to your room; since, you are staying at the CR? Just a thought.

I am thinking of getting a cake in Jan for my Birthday. I love Minnie so I thought about getting a red cake with white polka dots with some sort of bow on top any other ideas? In Oct so far I have the Mickey Cake but I think it is too big for 2 people but we are not eating at GF this trip. Any other ideas?

We've managed to finally book our ADR's :woohoo: Glad that stressful time is out of the way

We are going to the GF cafe for lunch on 30th Nov, when should I phone to order a cake? :confused3

I would get it at Chef Mickey's. We had a cake when we stayed at POR and it was just fine in the room, until we ate enough to fit it into the fridge. It would be fun to celebrate her birthday with the characters, and I think you'll get a prettier cake at CM's than you will at Le Cellier. Plus, are you going back to your room right after your Le Cellier dinner? If not then you'll have to carry a cake around until you do. ;)

We will be celebrating my daughter's birthday at lunch at CRT. I want a custom cake from the GF which I believe I will need to pick-up. My question is....We plan on spending the whole day at MK. Can I bring the cake to CRT in the morning and have them hold it till lunch? Will they also "hold" the leftovers so I can pick it up later in the day when we leave MK?

TIA

:cake:
I have my custom cinderella cake (I took the idea from pp with the cinderella egg topper) e-mailed the picture of the cake to Jessi pastry chef @ CR. She said she would take care of all the details for me had to give cc for something even though they said I would pay that day. charge is $125 10 in white cake straw custard filling white buttercream. It is being delivered Sept. 8th to CRT for breakfast. I was told no problem they would for sure hold my leftovers till dinner and I could pick them up. I was also told to call or e-mail her day before just to check in. I sure hope it goes as planned I will post my experience when I get back leave Sept. 4th-14th whooohoo

I would say Chef Mickeys as well. Eventhough it is breakfast you could just surprise her with it and save it for later and take it back to your room. It would be much easier for you that way. That way you could eat it whenever you wanted!

I agree...if you are getting a custom cake it really is Private Dining that will be helping you. Have it sent to the room and enjoy it whenever is best for you :thumbsup2

Now I am soooo confused, all I kept hearing was custom cakes at CRT were limited because it was an "in the park restaurant". The reason I was originally thinking of a custom cake at CRT was because of the picture you referenced and that is the restaurant we will be at on my daughter's actual birthday. I ended up ordering a cake for our dinner at Chef Mickey's on the 16th...the day after my daughter's birthday. Now I am wondering if I should call back and see if they can deliver the cake I ordered to CRT on the 15th...her actual birthday. :upsidedow

thanks, everyone for the great advice! I will be calling Private Dining @ CR today. I'll be sure to post a pic of what our cake looks like when we get back! :yay:

So here is my mini-wedding cake.

Ordered for: August 30th, 2009, at 1900 Park Fare
Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Frosting, Chocolate filling (which I didn't expect)
30$ before tax

Hidden Mickey! I realized this right after I stuck my fork in, so I quickly pulled it out to take a photo:

Wow, you are very lucky that CR is willing to deliver a cake to CRT. This is the first I've heard of this but maybe that is why your cake is so expensive (delivery charges)?? :confused3

I'm also very surprised they said the restaurant will hold your leftovers as many pp have mentioned being told that restaurants won't do that due to health regulations.

Interesting.

Wow this is news to me too! I have never heard of a restaurant holding the leftovers because of health reasons. And normally CRT does their own cakes, I have never heard of one being delivered from a resort? :confused3 I would doublecheck on this information if I were you because I would hate for you to be disappointed. :sad2:

I don't know what to ask for in a cake for our 10th wedding anniversary. :confused3 I have been POURING:surfweb: over these threads trying to get an idea of what I want and it just hasn't hit me. Our original wedding cake wasn't great. The decorator did not even remotely do what we had asked for and the cake tasted like pillow foam. I really would like to have something spectacular for this special occasion.
I have one of two options; give the CR a request for something with a theme or style of my choice OR let them have free creative liberty. I have seen some pretty amazing cakes lately (how bout that HM cake, huh?!) What would you ask for?

I asked my DH what his fondest memories were from our many WDW trips over the last 10 years and this is what he came up with:
Honeymoon trip during Hurricane Floyd (1999)
Trip with Brice before Meredith was born
1st trip all of us together--1st trip you and I together--1st WDW family cruise

Eating at Casey’s each time we go
Dole Whips
Brice riding Goofy’s Barnstormer rollercoaster over and over again including the ride attendant riding with him.
Pressing the gas pedal so Meredith could drive the indy cars
Cheese soup from Le Cellier (hooked on that thanks to my lovely wife)
Mine are:
WISHES! Fireworks(all versions, I cry everytime!)
Jellyrolls!
Epcot at night.

Wow! that is alot of memories and tough ones for a cake. BUT... if I were doing an Anniversary cake and wanted to think of Disney here is what I would do. I would do a simple cake like the one below and instead of Mickey and Minnie get the large white chocolate castle. I think it is simple, elegant and who doesnt think of Disney with that Castle on there? It would kind of tie everything together for you. Maybe they could make the fondant your wedding colors or put flowers on there with your wedding colors to tie the two together!

I have been pouring :surfweb:over these threads too and now am SO excited :cool1:to suprise the hubby for our anniversary in December. I would suggest, and I think I am going to go with, a theme or character that he loves and let him go with it. I'm going to try to find out his favorite ride or part of Disney and let the designers go wild with it...that is what made that HM cake SO AmAzInG!!!! If it were me I would want something simple and romantic:love:, but I think for dh he would much prefer something more intricate and worth the hefty price tag;)

I can't wait to see how everyone's cakes turn out in the coming months!!! I didn't even know about these personalized cakes before today and I have already read through most of this board! I am addicted! :rotfl:

aaarrrgghhh........I want to order a cake for my children (dd4 and ds10) for the 18th Sept for our dinner at 1900 park fayre....we are not realy celebrating anything, just my daughters first trip to the world.

Anyway after looking at this thread for months and getting lots of ideas, I have decided I want a pirate and princess theme, to try and please both of them with 'have a magical trip' written on it....

......well, here is my problem..........I can't get hold of Pat, all I get is her answer machine, I have left messages but I'm not sure she will phone me back as I'm in the UK................aaarrgghhh
