Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread

Hey guys...correct me if I am wrong.

What I am understanding so far is....the only way I can order a cake from the Grand Floridian Bakery is to dine at any of the Grand Floridian restaurants and preorder one right???

I always get a replica of my intimate wedding cake from the Grand Floridian so that it tastes exactly the same as it did on my wedding day.

From what I understand, that is the only way to do it now right?
Unless I stay at the Grand Floridian.

Please let me know so I don't have a huge let down.

Thanks
Gabrielle

If you want a cake from the Grand Floridian bakery then yes, you have to either stay there or eat there. They do not deliver or allow pick ups.

Is it just table service restaurants that will do a cake or can I order a cake for Cape May. I was thinking Coral reef for a b'day dinner but I think a character one would be better. If so who do I contact and how do I know what kind of cake. Do they still make mickey head cakes?

Thanks.

My friends and I will be running the Disney World marathon next January. We would like to order a cake after the race to celebrate. :goodvibes

Has anyone order any cakes for such celebrations? If so, do you have a picture of the cake? Thank you!

Thanks to the advice on this thread, I was able to order a surprise anniversary cake for my DP from the Polynesian bakery. They brought it out after a wonderful dinner at Ohana. Here's a pic:

It cost $25 + tax. They said it would be an additional $30 to have characters on it so I just went with the 'basic'. It wasn't quite as pretty as I would have hoped but it certainly made a special day even better.

The DIS rocks!!!

I ordered a cake to celebrate DStepS b-day at LTT on Sept.21. I ordered the chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream with an edible image of Goofy that is going to say, "Happy B-day Ty". I have ordered a cake before and I was very satisfied with the it. The cake that I ordered before is cake 2c in the first page. 2 more days till we leave:cool1:
:cheer2:

Hi Everyone,
well I have eventually caught up on the jet lag!! So here are the pics of the cake I ordered from the GF cafe.
I ordered the cake through Linda at private dining and got exactly what I ordered, it was yellow cake with custard and strawberry filling and whipped cream frosting. The decorations were a kind of plain, but we were all happy with the cake,, it tasted FANTASTIC so much so that the 8" cake we got didn't last very long and there were only 3 of us eating it!!! We each had a piece after the meal, then took it back to our room, had a piece each for supper and then finished it off at breakfast next morning! Glad I didn't get the 6" I originally wanted :goodvibes:
The cost of the cake was $25 plus tax.

Yum the cake at the GF looks lovely, maybe I'll wait and get my cake from there on our last week.

Beautiful cake & I know it was yummy - we got the same cake last wk tho' I had to order a 10" cake to get the strawberries. Was way too big for 2 people!

Anybody know if the Grand Floridian makes their own 6 inch cakes? (I know not able to personalize, just the general one.) Or are they the same ones that the other restaurants get, that don't have a bakery on site?

I just called the cake hotline number, used the promts to get to Chef Mickey's to see if by any chance they could do the same cake I'd ordered from the GF. The very nice CM I spoke with said they could -- 8" vanilla with the white chocolate screen printed character (Snow White in our case) standing up on top, flowers around the base. (They offered more choices with the 8" than the GF did. I could choose cake flavor, filling flavor and frosting flavor all separately, the GF offered only all vanilla or all chocolate. Chef M's offered vanilla or chocolate cake, white chocolate or chocolate filling, and vanilla or chocolate buttercream frosting, mix and match as you like. I wanted all vanilla anyway, so no difference to me but it may matter to someone else.) I ordered it and told her if there's a problem to call my cellphone. I hope they get it right. I decided it was better for us to do the cake at Chef M's on Friday rather than 1900 PF next week. I then called the GF private dining line and cancelled the GF cake, I hope -- the GF CM took my name and asked what kind of cake it was, then said okay she'll cancel it. I sure hope it gets done and I don't get charged anyway. They don't exactly instill confidence, LOL.

This will give us extra time to eat it since there are only three of us and we surely won't eat an entire 8" cake at one sitting. :rotfl:

DD really wanted her birthday celebration at Chef Mickey's in the first place, but I talked her into 1900 PF so we could get our cake from the GF Bakery. Now she's happier. Since 1900 PF changed their characters, taking away the Fairy Godmother and mice and bringing in the stepmother and stepsisters, DD hasn't been looking forward to it as much.

We'll be staying at CSR during our DS's birthday. We have ADR's at San Angel Inn and had plans to order a cake for him there. However, his fiance feels it will be embarrassing for him. Can I have a cake delivered to CSR or must it be a resort with a bakery? Thanks for any help.

I had the same problem at first, when I called GF they said that I had to have a 10" cake to have the strawberries,, but when I eventually got through to Linda she told me that I could get it in an 8" and she changed my order for me. I definately recommend keep trying to get Linda, she's great.
As for the yummy factor,,, we are still dreaming about the taste of that cake,,, oh I wish they did cakes like it here in the UK. Whenever I go to Disney again, I'm definitely getting that cake again, who cares if we don't have a celebration next time :lmao:

Had the same experience today when trying to order an 8" cake for DH and I 10th anniversary. Good thing I read these posts BEFORE I called GF bakery! I threw Linda's name out and they double checked and told me they could make it w/strawb and custard!

My question now, what has been your favorite flavor cake and icing/filling combo? My husband likes choc filling, van cake.

Thanks for all the great advice and tips!

Can the GF do Stawberries and icing instead of custard? Or even the white chocolate moose? I want strawberry filling but i don't like custard.

Has anyone tried the fruit moose? If so please describe it.

Thanks

jcemom do you mind me asking the price of this cake as it sounds like the one I would like?

$40 -- $25 for the cake and an additional $15 for the topper. That's what the GF quoted me and the same as I paid last year for a similar cake. I didn't ask the Chef M's CM because I assumed it would be the same price. I'll post pics when I get home. :goodvibes

Sizes:
8" (serves 10) $25 plus tax
10: (serves 16) $40 plus tax
1/4 Full Sheet Cake (serves 20) $55 plus tax
1/2 Full Sheet Cake (serves 40) $80 plus tax

You can add the edible character(s) image that you want to the cake for a price of $8 for each image. They apologize but Winnie the Pooh characters are NOT available at this time.

I just called the cake hotline to order an 8" cake for my son with Stitch on it. I thought it would be $25 for the cake, plus $8 for the image.

The woman I spoke with told me it would be $25 for the cake plus another $25 to have Stitch put on it, for a total of $50.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I was told it was $25 and $15 for an edible image. :confused3 I would ask if there is a senior person working, the CM I spoke with at GF bakery, while extremely helpful and courteous, had to put me on hold twice to verify that what I wanted was doable.

My advice, if you are not sure about the answer, ask if the CM could double check for you.

Good luck!

See, now this is so inconsistent. Not just the price, but that I was told they could not do Stitch. I ended up not getting a cake because of this for my son's bday:sad2:

I booked trip today for April. I sit too early to order a cake? Do I call the first number on page 1 or the restaurant I want to have it at?
so confused.
