Ok I promised a few months ago after I ordered DD21's b-day cake that I would post it here, We dined at V&A's on 9/20 for her b-day and at the end of our meal they brought out her cake. It went way beyond my expectations :) . It is a yellow cake with swirled white and dark chocolate ganache with fresh raspberries and white chocolate mousse filling and a white chocolate Tinkerbell cake topper finished with edible gold leaf.

That Tink cake is amazing! Almost too pretty to eat.. almost :lmao: I'll bet it was goooooooood, because it sounds like it would be.

hmm - wondering if I shoudl get just that then? there is only 3 of us anyways . . .

i dont want to be cheap though lol

or just get no cake at all (yes I did just say that on the cake thread lol)

since we are eating in Norway witht he princess, and already get desert . . .

Anyone ever do one at Garden Grill or does Garden Grill have cakes done by the same people who do, say, Coral reef or something for an idea. (If that makes sense?)

Question . . . what's the best way to order a cake? Call the restaurant we'll be at and order through them or dial the cake hotline directly?

I just ordered the Mickey cake! I'm so excited, we'll be leaving next week, and I ordered the Mickey cake to be delivered to our hotel room at the Poly (hopefully while we're out) for our daughters birthday. We decided on the vanilla cake, and then the frosting is how it is to make it look like Mickey. SO cute! Has anyone had any issues getting cakes delivered to your room?

Call the cake hotline and then select the restaurant you'd like to eat at. Its an automated line that will direct your call to the restaurant you'd like to eat at. I selected MK restaurants and then CRT.

Just a note to anyone ordering a 6 inch cake--I called the cake hotline, which gives you the information to just tell the hostess at your restaurant when you arrive, that you want the 6 inch cake. No prior notice required.

I went ahead and pressed the numbers to get to Coral Reef since I had a question before I ordered, and their message said that their pastry chef needs 24 hour notice for a 6 inch cake and 48 hour notice on all cakes larger than that. So, the cake hotline info isn't correct for all restaurants; I'd advise getting through to the restaurant itself even for a 6 inch cake.

Wow, I am glad to hear someone had a good phone experience with the Poly. I am looking to order a cake in a few weeks to hopefully be delivered to our room. Did you call Poly in room dining? Is the cake Mickey shaped? Do you mind me asking how much it was? I can't wait to see pics when you get back!

I called the hotline the first time to get all the info, and the CM was SO helpful. She gave me the direct number to call for the Poly to just call back and order: 407-824-2165.

When I called to order, CM was nice, not quite as helpful. You can't write anything on the Mickey cake, so I asked for them to write Happy Birthday to my daughter in chocolate, or something around it, and she said they'd request that but couldn't guarentee. I will call back and confirm prior to our trip next week too. The Mickey cake is $45 plus tax and gratuity. I will definitely post a pic when we're back and let you know how it goes!

First off, sorry to the people who directed question to me in regards to the CSR cake order I placed on 9/14. I got sick before we left, and this is the first time I have been on the DIS in awhile.

On to the cake....it was delivered to our room at CSR just like I asked, and my boyfriend was happily surprised.

It was chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, and some frothy chocolate center. It had decorative fruit slices/berries that looked to be covered in some thin clear tasteless gel (a preservative no doubt). The sides of the cake were covered with chocolate shavings.

Taste? I have had much better tasting cakes, but it was by no means bad.

Price? $20.XX including the cake, tax, and room service delivery charge. It came in a large white square cake box. FYI the box does NOT fit in the in-room fridge. It came with a baggy of small plastic plates (they looked like dark green marble) and plastic silverware and lots of napkins.

Size? The picture below is deceptive. The cake was actually a good size, the box was just large, making it look small. There were only 2 of us, and we had a total of 4 slices between us in the 2 nights we were there. There was still about 3/4 of the cake left we had to throw away at check out.
