Official Birthday/Anniversary Cake thread Part II

I am thinking about ordering the slipper dessert and castle cake for when we dine at GF Cafe and Garden View tea.

Which dessert would go better with which restaurant do you think?

We are going in Dec when would be a good time to preorder these, well in advance or 48hrs? Also, do I ring GF Bakery to order these?

Thanx

Stefy x

Firstly let me apologize :flower3: as I know this question has been asked a million times but having skimmed this thread and most of the old thread I can't find the answer to my question.

I am staying at Wilderness Lodge and want to order the white choc Mickey with tuxedo strawberries or something very similar. Does anyone know what they can make at the WL bakery? I would like it to be delivered to our room one day when we are out. Thanks in advance.

I just ordered an 8" cake for our anniversary and she didn't ask for a cc #. Do I just pay for it with our meal? I forgot to ask her?

The 8" are not frozen Sara Lee cakes right???? Does anyone have experience with the Poly's bakery???

I know that the Boardwalk Bakery makes the little Mickey head cake but I also know they dont make them every day or alot of them.... DO you think If I called a couple days in advance they would make me one and hold it. Its for my Daughters birthday and she would love the cake but I dont need a huge cake we are on the DxDDp and will have tons of sweets already..... ;)

I don't believe the 8" cakes are Sara Lee cakes..it's the smaller cakes. I just ordered a 10" cake and had to leave a cc number. But, I wouldn't have had to if I had ordered the 8" cake....a sizable difference in price but I really wanted particular artwork. She said my cc wouldn't be charged at all...unless I didn't show up. I would just be expected to pay for it with my meal...gotta love the DDE card!!!

A question for those more experienced.....did you call to confirm your cake order before the day you needed it? I know that when I ordered my dd's 13th birthday cake from the GF for our GF Cafe lunch I didn't call to confirm. Just didn't know if I should call the YC to make sure they have the order all set.

I have gotten all of mine at the Yachtsman right next door and never had to call to confirm it has always been there. I do mention it to the hostess when I check in and with my server at the start of the meal.

I guess it can't hurt to call the morning of or the day before.

Have a great time! :wizard:

By any chance do you have any pics of your cake? Would be nice to see what a custom made cake from Boardwalks Bakery turns out like

OK, I called Private Dining at Wilderness Lodge (407-824-1043), and they said they've discontinued the chocolate-covered strawberries, but they offer a chocolate box filled with truffles, a cookie platter, and something else I didn't quite catch that involves fruit. I'd call them up and just see what they can offer you.

To order a cake from WL, the number is 407-824-2090, and they answer between 7am-11am and 4pm-12pm daily.

Thank you so much for this info. :flower3: I think I will call them a bit nearer our December trip so I can order it at the same time, as it's an International call for me.

I haven't gotten them developed yet, but when I do (probably late August, early September), I will post a picture and PM you to let you know I did. :wizard:

Finally getting a chance to "catch up" on everyone's cake adventures. It's so sad that in this economy, people are willing to spend money on a cake that they may not need but are trying to make a little extra pixie dust for their families and Disney's putting them off! For all those at Disney concerned with the bottom line, why are you making it such a hassle for us to spend more money with you??? :confused3

I'm going to call and confirm my cake for September once we get back from MI, unless I have time before to get to it, just to be sure everything's looking good. I've already confirmed that we'll have a Mickey head cake in our room in Dec at AKL (with a peanut free snack for DS4) so I'm not as concerned there. I'll be sure to post pictures and experience when we get back. :goodvibes

Good luck to all trying to add a little pixie dust to their trip.

I just got off of the phone with BC private dining and the call was very easy. The person I talked to was very polite, but seemed like they wanted to talk me into a smaller cake. I still got the order and he was helpful. Of course my options are limited because yes I am strange and do not like chocolate!:confused3 So of couorse even though I am ordering this for my children, I am paying for it and want something that I will eat!:lmao: So I ordered a 10" so I could get it personalized for them. I ordered a 10' vanilla with strawberry moose and vanilla buttercream icing, they do not do Fondant here, I checked, it will have fruit around the cake and I just asked them to write "I love you all very much" again this is for my kids and since they all like different characters and the oldest 2 are past that stage I wanted something a little more for them. I wanted the pink cake with hearts all over that I saw on the old thread, not sure the boys would like that though!;)

As promised many pages back, I talked to the Chef at POP and this is what I got. Mickey Head cake that they will personalize. I could pay now or by room charge at time of delivery. It can be delivered to the room, but someone needs to be in the room for delivery. I can also pick it up at Everything POP. The cost will be $48 plus tax. I had choice of chocolate or vanilla cake.

Please post and let us know how this went! I want to get a cake deliverd to our room at the POP!

Does anyone know if I can order a cake for our Wishes cruise ( WL) I would like to order a Cake and Champagne but don't know if this is possible

Has anyone ever ordered a cake or chocolate-covered strawberries at CSR to be delivered to your room? Was considering this for our 1-year trip in October and just wanted to hear your experiences.... thanks!

i called chef mickeys.
Personally, I would not trust anything I was told at Chef Mickey's. I called there for a cake for DD's birthday last year. I had already ordered one at the GF for 1900 PF, but DD really wanted to celebrate at CM's. I explained what the GF was doing for me and asked if they could do the same -- 10" vanilla cake, vanilla buttercream frosting, white chocolate screen-printed Snow White standing up on top of the cake with roses, and Happy Birthday Emilee printed on the cake. I specifically told them I did not want a lay-on image, but a white chocolate character standing up on top of the cake. I was assured by the CM that yes, they could indeed do that for me. So, I ordered the CM's cake and canceled the GF Bakery cake.

What we got at CM's was a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream frosting (far more frosting than cake, the cake layers were thin with thick layers of frosting in between), with an edible image of Snow White that had been cropped from an image of all the princesses together. You could see bits of the other princesses in the background. There was no Happy Birthday written on the cake or the plate. It was okay, but it was not what I ordered at all. Once we scraped off some frosting it tasted fine, but still, it wasn't what I ordered and I was disappointed. Had I known they'd give me an edible image I'd have kept the GF Bakery cake. We got one from them the year before and loved it.

The previous year's cake from the GF Bakery, it had custard and strawberries inside and was delicious:

im surprised CM told you they do those, CM has never done those kinds of cakes:confused3
we ordered something they make, so im sure ill get it, its just a cake. cant screw it up.

OMG I would be flaming pissed about that! Especially given the fact that you can still see the other princesses in the picture. That looks terrible for the money you would have spent. Argh I'm so sorry. What did they say when you complained about that not being what you ordered?

i really wish they could set up some website with all the pictures of the different cakes they have so you can order cake # XXXX. They could still do customs but for the majority of us that would work and you'd know you were getting what you wanted.

I'm planning on calling later this week to confirm our cake. I wish they had order numbers or something a little more offical when you place an order. Then I feel more like it's really there and it won't get lost in the shuffle.

okay I reread most of the post and this is my question if anyone can answer it- I would like to order the mickey head with it saying happy birthday on it posted here. we are eating at the brown derby so can I order it from there or not? do I call the 1-800 number? or do I call the boardwalk? I guess I can always walk over there and pick it up sometime during the day??? his bday is on thanksgiving so Im wondering if its not something they will do on a holiday. TIA
