Official Avengers Half Marathon Weekend 2015 Thread

Well, there's a familiar wind going on in my neighborhood today. I'm about 25 miles west of DL though. But the weather app on my phone says it was a 9 mph wind, although Anaheim is showing 0 at the moment.

I'm about an hour south of DL and we're supposed to have a Santa Ana tomorrow but then Saturday it's supposed to be over and by Tuesday it may rain. Could do anything, really. They haven't been all that accurate this fall.

I can't believe how fast time is flying! I've been looking forward to this race all year (even before they officially announced their would be a 10K).

A few other items of business:
-The Christmas decorations are starting to pop up around the parks and Downtown Disney. Can't wait to run past them!
-I haven't seen any announcement about merchandise yet, my theory is they didn't want it to get lost in all the Halloween posts on the Disney Parks Blog this week so we will likely see it early next week.
-I find it interesting they have removed the "% full" info on the Avengers runDisney page. My gut feeling is since there was still 6% left and they were no longer allowing anyone to enter they didn't want to confuse people.
-I have all our dining reservations made. (We usually just do the casual stuff but after the race we usually like a Character Breakfast so we can get pictures with our bling and some characters. Also the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is going away for Star Wars land so we wanted to have one last meal there, so we are going for lunch one day.)

We're doing Big Thunder BBQ on Sunday for dinner after the half. It's been a tradition of going at the end of the runDisney weekends (probably because it's the only time I don't feel guilty having multiple servings of everything) so we had to do it one last time. I'll be sad when it's not there going forward! We've always wanted to try the dessert but we've always been too full. This is our last chance so we're going to get it, even if we have to roll out of there after lol

Today is my last long training run. I will head out for (hopefully) 12 miles, but I have been having severe knee pain on long runs lately. My physical therapist gave me some new exercises and I have been doing them consistently, so I am hoping I will be successful, but if I can get to 10, I will be happy. Next weekend I have a POT 10k for princess weekend.

Hoping we will see the merchandise this week. We've decided our family will all wear the 5k shirts for that race, but I'd like to make sure they aren't black before I pack everyone black pants/shorts to go with it. This year for Princess they never revealed the shirts ahead of time, so that makes me apprehensive.

I'm ready for Infinity Gauntlet Challenge! We ran 5 M Saturday and did a half Sunday. We were sub 3 hours despite the double up training! The course was the hilliest I have ever run and I was surprised we were under 3 when we rolled in to the finish chute.

We are looking forward to having more runners around us at RunDisney Running our speed!

When I did GSC in 2014 the race shirts were revealed before the expo, so I always hold out hope!

They seem to really be clamping down on the shirts being revealed - for awhile they (runDisney) were tweeting them, then they stopped tweeting them but volunteers stuffing bags would...they didn't reveal them for Disneyland in September. No one knew until the first runners picked up the shirts at the expo and put them on Social Media.

I'll be curious to see what happens at Wine & Dine and Avengers.

Very true. Sometimes I wonder if they were really strict in September because it was the 10th anniversary and they really wanted to surprise us. We'll see in a few days if there are any reveals/leaks for Wine & Dine.

I think they have to shut it down at a certain point so they can print the bibs out and whatnot.

I would think you'd see the merch preview soon, but it's a tricky time since Wine & Dine is this week - I would assume you won't hear much about the Avengers races until Wine & Dine is over.

My last long training run went great yesterday. Supposed to be 12 miles, like I said above, but with all the pain I've been having I was resigned to being happy if I could run 10 and walk the rest. But, at 12 I felt good, and went for 13.2! Little extra to up my confidence after so many issues. I think really hammering out all the PT stuff I was given really has helped.

I just ordered a shirt from raw threads for expo pick-up too. Very excited. I decided the day I crossed the finish line in February for the Glass Slipper Challenge this year I was going to go coast to coast to celebrate my 40th, so I am thrilled it is finally almost here

Spoke to Run Disney a few tour operators - everything was shut down on the 26th -- oh well --
