I am splurging on Theme Park View at CR! We were originally going with garden wing but I decided that it wasn't that much more for tower with them park view and I was going to go for it!

Just wanted to add that we get a military discount (very grateful) so it's not as much a splurge as you may think!

Splurge? What extras my kids expect is the more proper question. BBB for DD, as it will be the last year she can go there. DS wants a tour, but none so far interest him. Might do the Fantasmic dinner to get better seating, but not sure. Still time to think.

Right now, with the wind chills in the negative numbers, I am so ready for a very hot FLA summer.

Ok, can you officially put me on the list please??? I just booked my trip with compliments to my wonderful travel agent mom. I'm going to be there aug 8-15 staying at pop century..

Thanks so much

I am going to leave QOTD duties to another one of you creative folk on this Tuesday afternoon. Got the start of some bad news about my dear 15-year-old kitty today (with more, I'm sure, to come tomorrow) so I'm not feeling particularly innovative :sad1: .

Feel free to jump in if you have a question you've been anxious to toss out! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry, I just lost my dog who was 13 this past December. Our pets are our families. Thinking and praying for your kitty

Thanks so much. So sorry to hear about your dog :sad1: .

I should know tomorrow if its kidney disease or hyperthyroidism. Sadly, neither is a good diagnosis for an elderly cat.

Monday's QOTD:

Are you "splurging" on anything on your vacation?

Something like....

A cabana at one of the waterparks?

A meal at a signature restaurant?

The dessert party?

One of the specialty cruises?

Club level and/or a higher level resort?

A rental vehicle?

A day offsite at another theme park?

Or.....something else?

I know this was yesterday QoTD, but I thought I had posted on it and must have clicked to preview instead of submit. :lmao:

Anyway, with this being a girls only fun trip, we are for sure renting a pontoon boat one afternoon and doing the Behind the Seeds tour. My friend and I will be sharing a room, and thanks to her great military discount, we will upgrade to a Deluxe. We just aren't sure which one right now. If I can pick up more hours at work, it'll either be CR TPV, or CL at the WL or BWI. Also, we are bouncing around the idea of a signature dinner, or the Luau at the Poly.

I'm so sorry about your fur-baby. We had our fur-baby, Bug, from 1996 until he went to the Rainbow Bridge in Aug 2011. My husband is still so heart broken that he won't even consider getting another one. Honestly, I still cry every time I drive by the vets office. My mom even calls her dogs my little brother and sister, and my sister's dogs her grand-babies and my niece and nephew.

We are splurging by adding a surprise 3 night cruise on the Dream. We will lay pretty low for the rest of our trip.

12 visits (and one more to Disneyland). My first visit was when I was 20. I was a chaperone for a high school youth group, so not as much fun as it could have been. ;)

After that we came every year since my daughter was 3. Then last year that turned into twice a year. Which morphed into what I am calling the year of too much Disney: we were there in January. We're going for a weekend in April. 5 day trip in August. Columbus Day weekend in October. Trip for just me and two girlfriends early November for the Wine and Dine Half. Then a 9 day visit just after Thanksgiving. In addition to that we have a short Disney cruise in February and an Adventures by Disney trip to Scotland in July. I know, I know. Lunacy.

QOTD...2 parts....How many visits to the World have you made? How often do you visit?

We have been to WDW 3 times 2007, 2011 and 2013. We did DL in 2009. We were going to do every other to every third year originally but couldn't resist after pricing out other vacations you just get so much more for less at Disney!

This will be my 4th visit and DH and DDs 3rd visit.

My first trip was when I was a kid with my parents in 1995. DH and DD's first trip was 2010 - this trip was with my in laws and niece and nephews (9 of us total). DH and I took DD back in January 2013 (just the 3 of us). I am hoping for yearly trips but we will have to see how that goes!!

QOTD...2 parts....How many visits to the World have you made? How often do you visit?

I have been to Disney 12 times as an adult and 10 times as a child.

We have averaged 1-2 times a year for the past 6 years.

I'll answer my own question:) I think I've been about 32 times. I was fortunate to go every year or so as a child. We'd spend a week every winter in our motorhome at Fort Wilderness...5 kids...crazy times! I never actually stayed in a hotel or flew there until I was 15. My Dh and I were married in 2001 and took our honeymoon to Disney...his first visit. Now he has been 13 times. We tend to visit once a year because we feel that it is a good deal for a guaranteed fun vacation. We actually went twice the past 2 years because we added a Christmas trip as well. After 2014 we think we'll take a year or so to venture elsewhere now that our youngest is getting to a better age for other trips, such as a national park.

My first trip was in 1976. I went with my parents and sisters about 5 times between 76 and 86.

Then I finally returned with my own kids in 2010. And we've been 5 times since then.

So I guess about 10 times in total. But I didn't fall in love with it until 2010. I just remember the lines as a kid and having to choose which rides to go on with those "E" tickets. I don't remember loving Disney at all from my childhood.

Now we typically go once a year (every August) but we went a little crazy last year and went three times. :dance3:

QOTD...2 parts....How many visits to the World have you made? How often do you visit?

First time: 1980, age 12
2nd: 1989, age 21, EPCOT!
3rd: 2012 (23 years!)
4th: August 2014! I'm determined to go every other year from now on!

Good question! :thumbsup2

Our first visit was January 2009, and we did all 4 Disney parks (stayed at POR). Neither DH nor I had ever been as kids. This first trip was to celebrate DS's 13th birthday.

We returned to Orlando in January 2012 for DS's 16th birthday, but we missed Disney completely (not even DTD) as we focused on the Universal parks, SeaWorld and Discovery Cove. Stayed on I-Drive.

August 2012 we returned to Orlando again, but no Disney. We did Aquatica, Discovery Cove, etc. Stayed at Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa.

December 2012, we had our third visit to Orlando in one calendar year :woohoo: to spend Christmas at SeaWorld. Our Disney influence included a visit to DTD, dining at T-Rex, and a character meal at the Poly. We also took in ICE! at Gaylord Palms, visited Gatorland, and also Aquatica. Stayed onsite at SeaWorld (Residence Inn).

August 2013, we did both Disney waterparks, DTD, and the character meal at the Poly in addition to Cocoa Beach. Stayed at SVR and found our new "home away from home".

We have now bought two timeshares in Orlando, so will (God willing) make either one two-week or two one-week trips yearly from here. I am sure one of these days we will do a Disney-only trip again :) . But not during the summer.....would love to do a May or October visit! In the meantime, we enjoy having at least a little Disney in each trip to Orlando.

Thanks everyone. The blood work results are supposed to be back in the morning. At least then we should know which battle we're actually fighting. Oh, if cats could just talk! (hmmm...on second thought....maybe that wouldn't be such a good thing after all :rolleyes1)
