Thanks! I needed that this morning. I need to watch last night's Project Runway. I DVR it so I can watch Burn Notice (and because my husband hates PR with a passion and won't watch it with me unless I want him to mock it the entire time). :cool2: PR always makes me wanna break out my sewing machine. So I should watch it this weekend because I need to hem my maxi dresses and attempt to 'fix' the straps on them. I hate that they are twisted. Feels like they need to be 'fixed' all the time. So I have to take them apart and sew them back together 'right' and make sure it fits correctly, etc. Something that would take those contestants a few minutes will likely take me a few hours. :lmao:

He was celebrating his 3rd birthday. Thanks, true how fast it's gone already.
I wanted to get into a photo pass share but never did so I'll just buy a few abd use my camera. Last year I took 400 pictures!

Im leaving NOW! have fun, I'll check in
Yay! Have fun!!!

15 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I hope)

I just checked out the Frog Toggs everyone has been mentioning and they are getting awesome reviews from Disers.:thumbsup2

I am tempted to buy a few. There's 5 of us going. Do you think I need to get 5? Maybe 3? Are they the kind of thing you can share or should we really have our own? Not sure I want to spend upwards of 60 dollars on them.

We have 3 for the 4 of us. I bought one for DD to sit on/use in the stroller and just to see how it worked. I was planning to buy one more, but the first one worked so well that both DH and DS wanted one of their own. They don't share well :rolleyes2 Plus, honestly, I wouldn't want to wipe sweat off me with a towel that either my DH or DS had just used to wipe their sweat off. KWIM? I didn't think of cutting them in half, though. That's a great idea! I think you'd be fine with 3 for 5 people if you did that.

I can't remember who posted it and I can't find it in the threads... to whoever said they made some straps for their misting fans, what did you make them out of and how did you do it?? I have the fans already but think straps are a really good idea!! Also, are these froggy toggs really worth it? I bought some of the chilling neck straps that soak up cold water but am wondering if the toggs do something different/more.

I got my bag I bought for Disney in the mail today... an Overland Bayliss! I love it!!! Here's a pic:

bayliss2.jpg

It can be worn around the waist and across the body and has compartments for everything!! I think it's sooo cute!! :thumbsup2

Anyone else getting fun purchases to make the wait time a little more exciting??

13 more days for us!! And 6 more days of work!!

Cute bag! See my comment above re: Frog Toggs. Totally worth it. I can't even explain why they work so well, but as long as they're damp, they stay cool to the touch. Totally amazing. And even though the towel is damp, it doesn't get you wet! My DD sits on hers in the stroller and her clothes never get wet from sitting on a damp towel. No idea how that is possible, but I love it! Oh, and I made my mister fan straps out of a nylon-ish Disney ribbon I bought at Walmart. Princesses for the princess and Mickeyheads for DS. I just stitched by hand the 2ends together and then used a lighter to melt the ends so they wouldn't unravel. Took less than 10 minutes to do both. And I'm not a sewer- the only sewing gear I have is a small kit that DS needed for home ec in school.

Yikes.. I think I just talked myself into photopass.:rotfl: It bugs the heck out of me to spend that much when I can take my own pictures for free. But you know what? I NEVER do. I get maybe 10 pictures the entire trip and then forget about it. I know I'll wish I had in a few years.
I did the photopass + for 2 reasons. First, my very favorite memories of the trips DS and I took when he was younger were from when we rode ToT 13 times in a row (it was right before closing and the park was empty) and we had an absolute blast sitting through the pre-show and first part of the ride talking about what type of funny face we were going to make on the ride. There were several rides where we were the only 2 in the car! But I don't have any of those pics now because I wasn't going to pay $20 for them at the time. I've always regretted that. So this trip, we're going for ride pics, baby! The other reason is the one you mentioned in your other post. I am NEVER in pictures with my family because I'm the one taking the pictures. This trip is probably a one and only trip for our family of 4- I don't know if we'll get back before DS is out of the house and no longer wants to do Disneyworld with us. I don't want to look back on the pictures and have no proof that I was even there :rotfl:

I pray I won't have to use the information I am asking for but I have a question.

If I need to postpone our trip, what type of penalty fee will I have to pay? According to allears I can change it for $50 or cancel for $200. Is that right?

Thing is my husband has been doing really bad recently. He was a few days late on his shot because Walgreens didn't have it and we forgot to reorder it until the day before he needed it which was a Friday so he had to wait til Monday for it. So one would think a few days late wouldn't matter, right? Well since then his arthritis has flared, his skin has flared (He has erythrodermic psoriasis on 90%+ of skin and psoriatic arthritis). We're doing wet wraps every night and he's trying to take it easy. He will have another shot that he is going to take on the 14th which is 'early' by a day or two but would actually be on time if he wasn't late last month. So he's hoping taking it a day or two early he will know how he will feel. Usually he feels pretty good for two weeks after his shot but since he was late this last time he didn't have his two weeks of feeling good. The last two weeks of the month he usually has good days and bad but progressively gets worse. We actually picked the dates we did because we knew it would be in that 2 week window of him feeling good.

However, if for some reason the shot doesn't do its thing and he feels the same after his shot we will need to reschedule. He doesn't want to but I don't want to have to do wet wraps at Disney and deal with him feeling bad on top of the heat. I personally think we should go when its cooler anyway because of his skin, but he wants to go now (and so do I but I can wait if it means he's feeling bad). If we don't go this month we will have to wait til November because I'm due to start IVF again in Sept/October. :P And if IVF works I will be pregnant so I'm not sure how that changes things either for the trip.

We also won't know for sure until a few days before our check in so I just want to make sure we can reschedule without having to pay for the entire trip.

Again I hope we don't have to reschedule but knowing we can will help put my mind at ease.

Thanks.
I don't know the answer to this, but wanted to tell you that I hope your DH gets better so you can go on your trip! And good luck on your IVF! I was waiting around for AF to show so that I could start my IVF process when I found out I was pregnant with DD. We always joke that she was a very planned for "oops" baby. All those months of trying and then we got pregnant by accident :) I know what a rollercoaster ride that whole process is and wish you the best!

Little :offtopic: here, but just have to post this:

Anyone who's read my PTR or even the first post there knows that Ian has had a rough couple of years. Not only has he had to deal with losing his dad he started having some health problems this past year. So last night at his jr firefighter training they had them in full gear, air packs and all and it reminded me of this ...

Ian in his dad's gear when he was 8, and then 6 years later in his own :firefight I guess I just realized how quick he's growing up and I can't wait for this trip with him. :goodvibes 22 more days to go!!!

Thanks! This will be our 2nd IVF after over 4 years of trying. Due to all of DH's medications it lowers/eliminates his count making IVF the only possible way for us to get pregnant, but each month I still hope for a miracle. It only takes one right? :rotfl2: I'm hoping for some Disney magic while we're there though it does not sync up ovulation at all. I would LOVE to not have to do IVF again. I hated it.

Adorable picture!!! I hope he LOVES his surprise trip!!! I think you should have your daughter tape it when you tell him and then show us! ;)

Oh yeah I wanted to share something neat I learned with all of you about the princesses.

DH has a friend who just got married and he was talking to him and his wife about us going to WDW. Apparently his wife is friends with a Disney princess backup! She is usually the mom from Incredibles most days but fills in for another princess (he didn't tell me which one) on other days.

BUT apparently if you want to be in the 'princess program' you must live with the other princesses and can't live with a guy. Well this girl she knows has been a princess for 5 years and married for 4 but hasn't been able to live with her husband!!! How weird is that? They have a curfew and everything. They really must put on the appearance of being a princess even when they aren't working. I don't know if I could put that much dedication to a job especially since she's just a part time princess and usually just a regular character.

I thought that was interesting...:goodvibes

You have the info correct, however I *think* there is a certain date it becomes non refundable. I may be wrong.. but I think you need to do it a few days in advance. I'll see what I can find for you.
I am sorry you are having all these issues. If I missed it I am sorry.. does your husband have an autoimmune disorder? Just wondering because of the psoriasis and arthritis. I am admittedly pretty ignorant about this stuff.
It sounds like you may be much happier when it's cooler.
I'll tell you our experiences.
I go the last week of August every year. Its more affordable for us, and the kids are off. What is most important though is that my husband is in an intense year round 3 and half year program. He rotates a semester of school and then a paid co-op work term year after year. It involves 3 hours of commuting a day. He is kicking butt in this program and in the long run it will be so worth it for us.. but it is HARD. These next two weeks are exams and I am essentially a single mom when these weeks come. He gets the last week of August off so we go then because we can. He also gets one week in February.

August is a blast, and we enjoy every minute of it? But February? I came back relaxed and recharged. We probably saw and did a third more because we didn't need the mid day break and overall it was more enjoyable without the heat. So if you need to wait, it will be worth it.
Either way you will have a nice time, but the heat is something that slows you down.

Here is what I found on mousesavers so it looks like I was indeed wrong..

Rules for Vacation Packages

When booking a vacation package through WDTC, you will be subject to the following rules:

You must pay a $200 deposit within 7 days of reserving your package. (Except when booking online at DisneyWorld.com, in which case the deposit is required at time of booking.)
Final payment of the entire remainder is due 45 days prior to check-in. You have to pay in full right away if you are booking less than 45 days in advance.
You can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up until 45 days in advance. If you cancel 44 days or less in advance, there is a cancellation fee of $200. You’ll also lose any nonrefundable elements, such as travel insurance and airfare — see below. No refunds are given for cancellation of a Grand Gathering experience made 6 days or less prior to the experience date. No refunds will be given to no-shows.
Any changes that result in a lower rate, such as applying a discount code, reducing number of days and/or changing to a lower-priced resort, made 45 days or less prior to arrival, are subject to a $50 fee.
Beware – WDTC usually adds nonrefundable travel insurance to your package by default. If you don’t want it, tell them while you are making the reservation. Once you hang up, it’s too late. You can add the insurance later if you wish, up until your final payment is due. You can also buy travel insurance directly and usually save some money that way.
Airfare added to your reservation is also nonrefundable. It’s hardly ever a good deal, either. I strongly advise booking airfare separately. Visit the Airfares page for hints on how to save on airfare!

I have no idea as to the answers to your cancellation questions, but I just wanted to say that I am thinking of you and your DH and sending you good vibes that all works out and you are able to travel as planned. You are in our thoughts and prayers :grouphug: .

The August trips are fun and special and we have a blast
Thanks! Yes psoriasis is an autoimmune disorder and is treated with immunosuppresants. (thus the reason we aren't taking the plane)
I think we'd enjoy cooler weather too but DH wanted to go NOW and I wanted to go before we did IVF again. But actually going someplace warm when Iowa is freezing would be a lovely break instead of going someplace hotter when hopefully Iowa will finally be cooling down. But alas...i want to be there in 15 days now. I don't know what to do. Especially if there is a point where its nonrefundable. Then I definitely think we should switch 'just in case'. :sad2:

I'm so stupid. I just looked at my reservation confirmation and saw this:
•Changes to Reservation - For a change made 44 days or less prior to guest arrival that results in a change in the package price, a change fee of $50 per package, plus any change fees assessed by hotels or other suppliers, will be charged. Such change fees must be paid in addition to any increase in the package price resulting from the change. If air travel has been ticketed, guest will be responsible for any increase in airfare as well as the change fee assessed by the airline.

•Changes to reservations which affect outbound flights or first night's accommodations must be made at least 7 business days prior to guest arrival. Land portions of the reservation cannot be canceled without also canceling the air portion of the reservation booked through Disney. Airlines/hotels/suppliers do not permit changes in certain situations. All existing travel documents must be returned to Disney via overnight delivery service and revised travel documents will be delivered to guest via express service, both at guest's expense.

So given that information...i must do it b4 7 days?

WAH that is interesting. I guess I dont want to be a princess if I cant live with my prince charming. It is kinda of sad dont you think. :(

Talked to a CM on chat and got my answer. Here is what I learned:

Keeley Shea: You can make changes to your reservation 45 days prior to your arrival with no penalty. If you make changes after the 45 day mark, and the price of your package goes down, there is a $50 change fee. If the price of your package goes up, or stays the same, there is no change fee! (smiles) Keep in mind; any changes within 2 weeks of arrival incur a $15 processing fee.
you: So if we know the 17th (with check in on the 19th) we can change with a 15 dollar fee plus the 50 if we choose a cheaper package?
Keeley Shea: That is correct.
you: That eases my mind. Thank you.

Aw! I have similar pics of my DS wearing DH's gear a few years ago, and now DS is a fire explorer, so he has his own gear. And actually, DH's gear comes up to about mid-calf on DS because his legs are so dang long! They grow up TOO quickly!

Thanks! This will be our 2nd IVF after over 4 years of trying. You know, my DH has psoriasis, too. Not as bad as your DH, but I wonder if that wasn't part of our issue, too? none of the urologists or REs we saw ever brought up the psoriasis meds. Hmmm... Anyway, indeed it does just take one! DD is proof of that (DHs counts were next to none!) Good luck to you!

Wow, that's weird! I understand the curfew (wouldn't want any hungover/tired looking princesses!). But that's strange that they have to live with each other...

I thought so too. For me it totally wouldn't be worth it and they have to post pone families etc. That is true dedication to one's job!

He never 'officially' got the diagnosis that it was due to his psoriasis but all his hormone levels and physically he was fine. We didn't do the genetic testing though. His rheumatologist was adament about us not trying on one of his drugs though. His urologist thought the meds were fine. He has a very low and sometimes no count depending on the day. But in May he quit smoking when we found out i was pregnant and then when we found out it was ectopic he talked to his rheumatologist about stopping the one medicine. So he did. We've been wondering if that is what is causing this flare but we think he would have flared sooner if it was due to the lack of that other medcine. Anyway so with not smoking and without the one med we are hoping that increases quantity and quality of things. Thanks for the hope of a miracle though! I really hope we have some Disney Magic. lol

As for the princesses it sounds like a college dorm. She has a roommate and everything. :P I do not want to be a princess.

While I can understand the rule about curfew etc I suppose..
I can only imagine the cat fighting and backstabbing in a dorm full of princesses:rotfl2:
It's like America's Next Top Model with teeth. I bet it gets ugly in there:scared:

those shirts are awesome. You can make me some :rotfl2: i could never get the pic to print right on the iron on lol.

16 more days :cool1::cool1::cheer2::cheer2:

While I would love to make you a set, I think if my DH had to print those out again and whatever he had to do, he would kill me and I would rather be alive for my trip to WDW, so sorry, blame the DH for that! :lmao::rotfl2:

I'm so sorry... I'd like to know the same thing. Or if I have to shorten the trip and its already paid for, do I get reimbursed?

I have a blot clot disorder (HVT) that keeps me on blood thinner. My INR check came out high last time and very high this week. They switched the amount I take daily and I'm eating food to help thicken up my blood. But last time this happened, I had to be hospitalized until they got it down again. We're checking it 2 days before my trip and if its gone higher I have to postpone. Any thoughts on what to do if I can't leave until a week later and it gets cut to 5ish days?

Halloweenbaby- Once you're there I'm not sure you can cut your trip short and be reimbursed (no shows aren't reimbursed either), but if you change it right before you go (even if its just 2 days) you can just pay the change fee i copy pasted earlier. If you want to talk to someone you can call Disney or what I did is go to the reservation section and start playing around with that (free dining dates) and in the left hand corner a 'chat now' button appeared. So I clicked on that and asked my question. :) I hope your bloodwork turns out fine though and you won't have to cut your trip short!
