****OFFICIAL August, 2012 (PART 2)****

I hate to double post but does everyone here subscribe to Disney Parks Blog? If not you have to see Belle/Maurice's cottage! I love it! I so wish it would be open when we're there. Maybe we can get a sneak peak from a distance. http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2012/07/all-in-the-details-creating-a-cozy-cottage-for-maurice-belle-in-new-fantasyland-at-magic-kingdom-park/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+DisneyParks+%28Disney+Parks+Blog%29

Although I did see THIS at the end of the post "Speaking of Enchanted Tales with Belle, we’ll have a few updates on this new experience coming up in August right here on the Disney Parks Blog. It will be much more than your average character meet and greet. Keep watching!"

I LOVE Beauty and the Beast and this just makes my heart happy. I really wish Be our Guest would be open too while we're there. I definitely have to make plans to return as soon as possible to see all this stuff.

Good luck, San Fran is a cool city!

Depends, on some dark transfer paper it doesnt. My light trans paper, you flip it and iron on but my dark is the kind with parchment that goes over the image and iron on right way. Check your instructions carefully. To make you feel better, I did flip mine and print them and then read the instructions that say do NOT flip.

Oh how I wish it was just iron on, but no right in the directions it clearly says to follow the directions to mirror image print... UGH!!! I guess I really should read the directions like I tell my kids to do all the time...:sad2:

YAY!!! That's what I was thinking all day yesterday and first thing today! :cool1:

I didn't post at all yesterday but I did try to read. I was having a bad day and didn't want to be a Debbie Downer.

Feeling much better today.

I have a question that I think we've discussed before but there is no way to find it now.

What sunscreen does everyone use? Does anyone use a special hair sunscreen? Which regular sunscreens do okay on hair/scalp without turning hair white or residue-y??

I really don't want to burn so I want to get a high SPF for sensitive skin but I also want something I can use on my hair/scalp. The hair spray I got has UV blockers in it but I don't think that's the same as SPF or it would say, right?

I should mention I'm white as snow white and I burn then freckle. I do NOT tan at all. :P

Thanks!!! pixiedust:

Why hello fellow pale friend:rotfl:

My dd and I are practically transparent. She would burn through her shirt when she was little. It's ridiculous. We use an SPF 60. If you are really that worried a Sunblock is better than a screen. But, they are thicker and greasier in my opinion.
I live in Canada, but what we use for the scalp if we really don't want to wear a hat is a spray screen. Aerosol. You kind find a million of them that go on clear. Part your hair tightly, try to just get it on your scalp and then style as usual. It will make your hair a little sticky too so we wash it out every night.
My son and husband tan the minute they walk out in the sun, so they just use a 30 and they are fine.

:thumbsup2 I am PACKED! Everything is in one suit case and one carry on including clothes for 8 days, a box of cereal, and paper cereal bowls, 2 (4packs) gogo squeeze apple sauce, a box of cheese it mix, about 8 packs fruit snacks, few other treats,4 mister fans, 4 froggs tog cooling towel canisters, small bottle capt morgan and a closet organizer!

DH is going to have to put his sneakers in his back pack, they did not fit!

Yeah!!!!

Thanks everyone!! I once again have to WAIT. She was meeting with all of the candidates today to get to know them on a personal level and we will hear by tomorrow. Ughhhhhhhh I just want to know already! I feel like I can't get excited for Disney until I hear from them. I know, who says that right? lol. Thanks again everyone! I really appreciate it!

Keep us posted.

Unfortunately I do now.

I have a wisdom tooth that I should have had removed oh.. about 20 years ago. It cracked in half:crazy2:
Hurts like the dickens and I have to go have an extraction done. I don't even want to think about what they're going to have to do to get it all out since half of it is under the gum and there is nothing to grab onto:crazy2:

It isn't hurting right now, but I got 2 hours sleep because of the pain and I can't go in until next Monday.

At least it didn't happen on our trip right? Did I mention I loathe going to the dentist. Ugh. I am so cranky.

Oh no. All I can say is PAIN MEDICATION.

Mickey Mail came today. WooooooooooHoooooooooo!!!!

:cool1::cheer2::cool1::cheer2:

Completed my online check in today. We leave Sunday morning, estimated arrival 8pm! WOHOO!!!!:cheer2:

:cool1::cheer2::cool1::cheer2:

We leave in 5 days :cool1: but now DD6 has a fever and no other sympthoms. :sad2: Hopefully it goes away over night so we don't have to make a trip to the doctor tomorrow.

Oh, no, I hope she feels better. My DD used to get these fevers that would last like 12-24 hours, no other symptoms and would just sleep. She would wake up and be completely fine.

omg its officially August, we're all going to Disney THIS MONTH!!!

:cool1::cheer2::cool1::cheer2:

We decided. Yes to the new job. Yes to San Francisco. :)))))))))))

Congrats and good luck!!!!

:

4 DAYS!!!!!!

Now I have to go pack, get a mani/pedi, and the list goes on and on :scared1:

We use Coopertone and sometimes we use No Ad. I have never put sunscreen on my scalp before (never thought of it, but my hair is extremely thick) so I can't answer that part.

I burn quite easily too and have not gotten a sun burn on any of our trips to Disney.

I should mention as well..
My last few times at Disney I have developed a rash on my arms and my chest when I was wearing a vneck t-shirt. I thought it was from the sunscreen itself but the doctor says it's likely a reaction to the sun because it's so much stronger than what I am used to. I don't get it at home even if I am in the sun all day. It just looks like hives and they go away after going indoors for about an hour. It's really odd.

Oh no.

I just hit that phase. The "So excited I can't stand it anymore" phase.:rotfl:

I watched a video of the Haunted Mansion and as soon as I heard the audio my stomach started flipping.
Darn. I was hoping I would make it until the week of the trip before I turned into a 6 year old and got super impatient.:rotfl2:

I get the same thing but mine is from rosacea. I get red cheeks and chin and blochy hives all when I'm overheated (or just hot) and when I'm upset. I have a few other things that trigger it that I just try to avoid instead of being on any medication for it. It goes away once I cool down.

I should probably just wear a hat. I am just not very fond of hats on me.

Hi all,
Quick question:
We have free plus dining package for this month. We are planning to upgrade to Annual Pass once we are there.:cool1: What is the best way to do it? At resort, or the park, day of check in or before we leave ? Should we separate the ticket and our key to the world cards at check in? Assuming I shouldnt do online check in?
I am so excited!

Ugh, sun poisoning. Being native American you would think i wouldn't have a problem but i break out after a couple hours of northern sun. I was miserable in April because my 30spf that works at home was no match for the Florida sun. Got spf 70 for this trip!

Check in like usual and they will put your tickets on your key to the world card. The first day you go to a park, use the pass, go in and was straight to guest services. They can do the upgrade and will give you a new AP ticket. You'll just keep your key to the world card for your room key and dining credits.

Happy August Everyone!! I can't wait until next Thursday!!

I'm still waiting. No word yet.

Are the misting fans at Disney like these or better? I saw pics on Couponing to Disney site and I think these are the same or at least same brand.

I know we will need one and if the ones at Disney don't have Mickey on them then its not much of a souvenier so I'd rather get it ahead of time (though I've seen the stroller fans and I think those might be cute to put on DH's ECV).

These are 11.99 each with free shipping on Amazon.

Also considering some Body Glide, Neutrogena Sunblock spray (70 SPF debating between Fresh cooling and just regular sheer) and the Unofficial Disney Guide. :)

What sunscreen does everyone use?

We have purchased Banana Boat sunscreen with an SPF of 100 for this trip. DS and I are lily white and absolutely need the highest SPF going.

DS takes medication for his skin (excema and acne) which makes him uber-sensitive to the sun. In addition to the superpowered sunscreen, he will be wearing a t-shirt and hat whenever in the outdoors...and that includes at the waterpark.

I asked my son's dermatologist at his appt yesterday. She said high spf and be vigilant about reapplying. I mentioned I have a coppertone spf 50 and she said that was fine. None of us have sensitive skin or any issues, but my oldest is on medication that he needs to make sure he's protected in the sun. That said, he did get a pink neck after attending the Van's Warped Tour last week from 11AM-10PM. He put it on before leaving the house but didn't bring it with him. :sad2:

DH put in and was approved for leave - YAY!! He has duty next weekend - 10th-12th. Hope nothing exciting happens since that's #3's birthday weekend! He'll be 11 on the 10th. Debating whether to take him for his booster shot the week before Disney or wait until we get home. They won't send his 6th grade schedule without proof of the shot. Orientation is the day before we come home, but they don't start until the day after Labor Day so it's not like I'm really in any rush to get the schedule.

I'm right there with ya :thumbsup2 .

I just made our "need to buy before we go" list and its soooooo short :cool1: . I want to start packing so badly. Its taking everything I have to leave all the stuff in the closet.

I may have to haul out a few items tonight to satisfy my urges :rotfl: . Wonder if my neighbours would think I'm crazy if a brought out a misty fan to "practice" with on my evening walk? :rotfl2:

I looked at those fans, but they get terrible reviews. I went with mini clip on fans instead. Better reviews and one less thing to carry. The Disney misting fans are HUGE and it's a pain the the patootie to carry them around. I bought one on our first trip, and even though my daughter begs and pleads, I have refused to buy another one every trip since. I figure with the clip on fans, I can attach them to my backpack and there we go.

I hate feeling sticky. HATE HATE HATE it, and my daughter feels the same way. Especially in Florida with the humidity, you feel gross enough already, adding sticky sunscreen just compounds the problem. For that reason, we only use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreens in a high SPF. We are at a high elevation here in Washington and the sun is ridiculously strong, even on a cool day, so I never use under an SPF 70. It's what I always take with us, and we have never burned in Florida.

Yeah the misting fans have mixed reviews. But I think they'd be good for DH. We can store stuff on his ECV so I'm not concerned about size. If we get a clip on fan i'm going to wait and get the Disney one. It soo cute! It says its a stroller fan but I can see if DH doesn't notice that. lol

And yeah I'm debating on the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer and their 'Cooling Mist' one both in 70 (possibly 100 but I'd have to pay shipping). Both have good reviews. I wonder if the cooling one would really be cooling and still sheer.

Ultra Sheer Description: Ultra Sheer Body Mist provides broad-spectrum UV protection in an ultra light sheer mist. Stabilized with Helioplex, it provides superior balanced broad-spectrum protection against UVA-aging and UVB-burning rays in an ultra-light, non-greasy finish. This weightless formula applies easily to even hard-to-reach areas. Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock is waterproof, sweatproof and resists running into eyes. This one-touch continuous spray works at any angle. This product features Helioplex, a breadth of stabilized sunscreen technologies that delivers superior protection from the sun.

Cooling Mist Description: Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sunblock with Helioplex is a breakthrough! Its cooling, continuous spray instantly refreshes as it provides skin with unsurpassed UVA protection. This water-light mist cools, and instantly refreshes skin, leaving it feeling fresh and clean. Sunblock never felt so cool. This product features Helioplex, a breadth of stabilized sunscreen technologies that delivers superior protection from the sun.

We bought those fans for our first trip in 2008. Long story short.. I hate them.
They are HUGE and bulky and nobody wanted to carry them around after the first day. One of them never worked and another leaked all over the bag. Go for a smaller one. :thumbsup2

Gina, if I was your neighbour I would totally support your misty fan test walk. I'd join you and yell "We're going on vacation!!" all through the neighbourhood:rotfl2:
